This WILL be interesting. Even if it doesn’t rid us of the SNP from Holyrood, it will provide a good barometer of public opinion on the recent exploits of the SNP.

Farewell Blackman and Black!

Over 13 thousand children murdered in recent months and you write this s*itty comment. Shame on you.

Last time I checked it wasn’t actually a genocide though. And no British party is actively supporting Israel’s actions. So take your inflammatory comments and shove them.

motheronthedancefloor · 02/06/2024 06:36

I've reported @Escapetothesun posts as they are inappropriate and irrelevant.

Misthios · 02/06/2024 08:41

Yeah so did I for the same reasons.

Escapetothesun · 02/06/2024 09:03

Look,I've studied at Yad Vashem . It's certainly not inflammatory to remind voters of the actions of the parties they are voting for in a forthcoming election.

The Tories (headed by Sunak) contine to defend the IDF, responsible for the murder of Palestinians and those in the occupied West Bank. This isn't new, of course, but the last few months have been particularly extreme in regards to the number of humans being killed.

From the comments above, many seem to lack any compassion for the murdered children but mothers in Palestine and the occupied West Bank love their children as much as we do.

I would hope that Mumsnet don't censor this comment. It is reality and extremely relevant.

The inhumane Rawanda Bill is another reason why I would urge others not to vote for The Tories.

After going through trauma in their home countries and on their route to the UK and as they are beginning to feel safe, young people face being ripped from their Scottish communities.

Forced into vans in dawn raids, they face being driven to England and given only five days to appeal. And then they would be sent to Rawanda. Then what? Who cares for them?

These are real humans, lovely boys, like my or your son.

It's completely relevant as your vote could mean this goes ahead or not.

Again, Mumsnet, I do not see or understand why this would be removed.

Disc0mbobulated · 02/06/2024 11:19

@Escapetothesun there are numerous threads about what's happening in Palestine already. Please don't derail this one.

Misthios · 02/06/2024 18:46

I also think it is pretty fucking rich of Swinney to stand up there on his wee podium (channeling Saint Nicola) chastising Starmer for U-turns.

Let us not forget that it was JOHN SWINNEY who first presided over the "algorithm" which fucked up loads of exam results in 2020, and who also u-turned spectacularly over the "blended learning 2 days a week in school, oh no, that was only ever a proposal, we never intended doing it, back to school full time, nothing to see here, no fuck-ups, no u-turns".

Utter FANNY.

Sky/YouGov predicting SNP crashing to 17 seats

BigBoysDontCry · 03/06/2024 17:13

It's a tough one as they got over 80% of the seats last time despite having under 50% of the vote.

It's funny that they don't complain about that injustice 🤔

I appreciate that they don't control the system but a bit of an attempt to represent ALL the people of Scotland wouldn't have gone amiss...

Fuds.

Misthios · 03/06/2024 18:09

So there are 57 constituencies in Scotland for this 2024 general election. This is down from 59 last time round because of boundary changes. Last time:

SNP - 48
Labour - 1
Conservative - 6
Lib Dem - 4.

If the SNP crash to 17 - which would be MARVELLOUS, they will have to shut the fuck up about IndyRef2. Anything under half - so 28 or 29 seats would also be brilliant.

yellowridinghood · 03/06/2024 19:21

John Swinney talking today about how bad it is that the Conservatives are making the equality act definition of sex biological sex.

I can’t see that this it s a good thing to highlight for the SNP. Surely virtually all of Scotland agrees with the conservatives? And I thought the SNP were trying to distance themselves from the crazy policies of the Greens?

motheronthedancefloor · 03/06/2024 19:36

The issue for them is that they don't want the Tories / England / Westminster telling them what to do so its not really about trans or womens rights for them. They are jumping on the Equality Act changes as another example of the need for independence.
Never mind, as you say, that many people in Scotland disagree with them on gender ideology. Never mind that they are losing votes on this very issue. Never mind that it forced Nippy to resign. Never mind that it made Ash Regan defect. Never mind that it impacted the Bute House agreement. oh no no no.
Its perfectly okay, in the eyes of the SNP (and Greens) to have better (or worse) equality rights to those on another side of the border.

But they're still the largest party at Holyrood and could still be again, so that, apparently, is what they think gives them a mandate.
Just ignore all those who don't vote for them or don't vote at all...they don't matter in the slightest....

its the wrong issue to be moaning on about though. This issue highlights to a lot of previous SNP supporters the benefit of being in the UK and being able to close down these crazed ideas.

Timetodownsize · 03/06/2024 22:07

Watching the leaders debate - wish someone would ask Swinney about the £450milluon being returned to the EU. Can't believe he's trying to say education is improving !!

Disc0mbobulated · 03/06/2024 22:36

I started watching it but gave up. Just a bunch of men shouting at each other. Was making me anxious. None of them were answering a single question properly anyway.

Misthios · 04/06/2024 09:20

I agree @Disc0mbobulated , I avoid all those sorts of debates because they are pointless.

Timetodownsize · 04/06/2024 09:41

It was interesting that towards the end Sarwar seemed to be holding out the possibility of coalition with the LibDems in 2026 - not sure this would be any improvement on the SNP/Green coalition, certainly not for women as neither Labour or the LibDems know what a woman is

yougov.co.uk/politics/articles/49606-first-yougov-mrp-of-2024-general-election-shows-labour-on-track-to-beat-1997-landslide

Interesting to see Labour's chances in Scotland in this poll. The seat that I'm in has always been Lib Dem/SNP but now looking like Labour is very much in the race.

mibbelucieachwell · 04/06/2024 12:16

Ooh that's a very interesting model. I'm also in a seat which has been snp/lib dem for a while. Now snp/labour predicted. It hasn't stopped the Lib dems leaflets claiming they're the main contender to replace the current snp map though.

I would actually like to have candidates or their minions come to my door. It's only happened twice since 2015 ...
