This WILL be interesting. Even if it doesn’t rid us of the SNP from Holyrood, it will provide a good barometer of public opinion on the recent exploits of the SNP.

Farewell Blackman and Black!

🤣🤣🤣they really are the gift that keeps giving! Which part of it being part of a police investigation do rhey not understand ?

LeilaLettuce · 28/05/2024 06:06

What has happened to Murrell? It’s never reported on now.

Jeezitneverends · 28/05/2024 06:10

@LeilaLettuce he's been charged (embezzlement )with the SPR having gone to the Fiscal last week, so cannot be reported/discussed in the media as it’s now a live case

medianewbie · 28/05/2024 12:51

WOW! The SNP really think they can have the campervan back whilst the PF has the file & is deciding how to proceed? I think the timings of this have all been incredibly suspect. The very long case, then the file is only handed to the PF just after Yusaf screws up his FM-ship & Swinney (NS nodding dog) is ushered in.
Now it's gone to the PF but how long will the PF take to 'consider' it?
My bet is it will go past the election date by a country mile ...

Jeezitneverends · 28/05/2024 14:48

@medianewbie to be fair (which kills me where that shower are involved) 6 weeks for thr fiscal to look at a SPR would be exceptionally quick for any case…however I’m not holding my breath for Sturgeon to be charged with anything…Murrell’s going to be the fall guy I reckon

medianewbie · 28/05/2024 14:56

@Jeezitneverends I agree, 6 weeks would be quite quick. And the timing of the GE came as a surprise to everyone (but Sunak, it seems). But it's gone on for ages already. I have no doubt Murrell is the fall guy & NS will Divorce him quicksmart (after some tearful daytime TV / book signings as she's already doing) & zoom off to a new life in her new little (paid for hopefully) smart car.

medianewbie · 28/05/2024 14:57

sorry, posted too soon...

It will be a travesty if PM goes down but NS is exonerated.
Either she knew or she should have known.

Jeezitneverends · 28/05/2024 15:08

@medianewbie I agree with you every point, I just hope I’m not being naive in hoping that branchform is taking a long time (not unusual in my experience though) is because the police are putting together a watertight case…only time will tell I guess

annabelindajane · 28/05/2024 17:49

Didn’t NSturgeon sign off the accounts with her husband and the other signee ( forgotten his name ) doesn’t this make all 3 culpable? Maybe a smart accountant lady will know the answer.

Misthios · 28/05/2024 19:28

I said it at the time - but having a husband and wife as signatories on the bank account is SO DODGY. 15 years ago when I was Chair of the local playgroup, the Treasurer used to ask me every week to sign the cheques for the milk delivery, or the music teacher. His wife also wanted to be on the committee and we decided as a group it would not be ethical to have her as a signatory on the account because of potential for fraud.

And we are talking small amounts here - £50 or so. And everyone in the parent body knew we were having milk delivered and paying for a music teacher. Having two people who are married to each other and countersigning each other's payments is so shifty.

Misthios · 28/05/2024 19:29

In other news - I am starting jury service tomorrow so will report back if it's a fraud case...

Jeezitneverends · 29/05/2024 11:07

@Misthios 🤣🤣

ThomasinaLivesHere · 30/05/2024 11:15

@Misthios id love to be on the jury for that case 😂

Liblabflipflop · 31/05/2024 09:47

i talked to Tracy Gilbert who is running for labour for edin north and leith and she does seem good, if anyone is in that ward, worth meeting/talking to her. Personally I’m still undecided between lib and lab due to lab vat on education policy but if I was voting labour she seems a good candidate.

annabelindajane · 31/05/2024 13:29

I’ve just seen Annelise Dodds ( labour) is going to pursue the gender policy so men can become women - Nicola died on that hill , Hopefully Annelise will do the same . What don’t they get about safeguarding womens spaces and accepting a man isn’t a woman .

How depressing

motheronthedancefloor · 31/05/2024 21:04

VAT for private schools is something I support but what is making me hesitate over labour is the gender ideology issue and the anti semitism of many MPs.
I am not enthused by any of the parties tbh but might have to hold my nose and vote labour to get the SNP out.

TheBanffie · 01/06/2024 15:14

I'm voting Conservative- never have before and they are unlikely to get in in my area, but I will not vote Labour, Lib Dem, SNP or Green due to their misogyny and support of self-id. Labour's plans to help the NHS are also pathetic- waiting list clinics and use the private sector more - that's already happening and it's not enough! We need hard decisions on what the NHS will actually treat, made by central government and applied equally everywhere.

Escapetothesun · 01/06/2024 16:50

Wow. The Tories have catastrophically wrecked the NHS.

Who is the Scottish Tory Leader you'd like in?

BigBoysDontCry · 01/06/2024 17:28

The NHS in Scotland has been devolved for a long time. SNP have been given extra money when it's been allocated in E&W (by the Tories) but as it can't be ring fenced, it was spent elsewhere by the glorious SNP.

Escapetothesun · 01/06/2024 18:19

Where? Evidence please?

And I wasn't actually referring to Scotland.

Timetodownsize · 01/06/2024 18:50

This is the scotsnet area of Mumsnet so discussion of tactical voting may involve voting Tory in order to remove the SNP - and this thread is specifically about how the election impacts in Scotland

Absolutely…sometimes you have to use your vote tactically, and hold your nose while you do it, but a huge amount of people don’t understand what tactical voting is about…I’ll be voting labour, which I’m not over the moon about, but my SNP MP isn’t standing 🥳, so voting labour is the only way we have a hope of keeping SNP out

Disc0mbobulated · 01/06/2024 19:27

This will be my first GE in Scotland and at the moment I've no idea who to vote for. Don't want to vote Conservative as they've done huge damage and it'd probably be a wasted vote anyway. Will not vote SNP (shitshow, self id etc, independence), Labour (self id), Greens (batshit, self id), Alba (independence). Doesn't leave me with much to choose from. Will be following this thread with interest.

Escapetothesun · 01/06/2024 20:28

@Disc0mbobulated would NEVER vote for a party that supports genocide .
