I loathe the Scottish Government

I loathe the Scottish Government. I want to see the SNP/Green Party coalition roast in hell! They can take any MSP who voted for the Gender Reform Bill or the Hate Crime Laws with them. Is it now a hate crime for a Scottish Woman to say that?

How much did useless Lorna spend on the deposit return scheme? I think we are all pretty much in agreement that a UK-wide deposit return scheme is a good thing, and other devolved administrations and the UK government are working on similar. But no, that wasn't enough for our brave Lorna. She had to be first, with a different and special TARTAN deposit scheme. Industry and supermarkets up in arms, but no, on Lorna ploughed.

Telegraph estimates £186 MILLION spent on wee Lorna's school project before it was quietly shelved with announcements that they'd just fall in line with the rest of the UK as and when everyone's ready. Now even if the Telegraph is over egging the (vegan, organic) pudding with their figures, and it's only half what they're stating, that's a fuckload of money which could have been better spent.

Still, have to keep the greenies sweet if you're Useless, because you depend on them to get things through parliament.

PrimalLass · 17/04/2024 19:46

I agree. It's so gutting after the hope and enthusiasm post 2014.

Free prescriptions and university fees? Which you wouldn’t get in England.

But prescriptions in England were capped at about £7 and free contraceptives and free medicines for people who couldn’t afford it. I agree it’s good about free Uni fees but I’ve read recently about universities prioritising foreign and English students to gain their high fees, and if you come from a reasonably affluent area you haven’t got a hope of getting into a prestigious course like law at Edinburgh.

I loathe them . I also can’t stand Scottish Labour either . Cross party there are some really great people but I do feel politically homeless .

I want then to come and knock on the door pre election . I have words prepared .
they are like the worst people in the student union ‘running’ the country . The woman hating / fearing is off the scale

Here is a staggeringly awful thread by Humza Yousaf -

Our First Minister. Our First Minister

Wtf? What a fucking statement. "Men don't know the sex of their rape victims".

Who in God's name is in charge here?

Rainbowshit · 17/04/2024 20:36

Wonder what the greens think of ditching the greenhouse gas reduction target? 🤔

TerrysOrangeScot · 17/04/2024 20:41

They do free prescriptions in Scotland because it would cost more to keep on top of the admin, we have much less people in Scotland and a majority would be entitled to free medication so to then add more admin onto it, it wouldn't make anything back.

I honestly can't see any party actually being helpful to the country who knows what will be coming next with the current leaders of each political party.

I pay £8k per year more per year in income tax than I would in England. The prescription may not be charged at the pharmacy, but it sure as hell isn’t free.

You earn £150,000 a year?

JennyLake · 18/04/2024 06:17

I look back on the devolution referendum and cringe. 1997, I was an optimistic 20 year old and thought how amazing it would be to take some ownership and accountability for our own destiny. I was proud to be Scottish.
I regret that vote every day. What a disgusting shambles it has turned out to be. If I could vote to reverse devolution tomorrow I would in a heartbeat….and I dont say that lightly as I also think Westminster is a shambles. But, the COST of running the Scottish government…we are PAYING over the odds for regression. I’d rather be paying for one set of grifters than two. And I detest the anti-English sentiment. The Scottish government has made me embarrassed to be Scottish.

ArtfullyCrumpled · 18/04/2024 12:51

We are so backward in Scotland it's an absolute shambles. Thank god for whoever it was in clinical leadership at NHS GGC who made the decision re Sandyford Clinic.

Misthios · 18/04/2024 13:11

Sandyford isn't just a gender woo clinic though. It's been a sexual health / well woman clinic there for decades, I was prescribed the pill there when I was a student in the early 90s, DH had his vasectomy there, that's where the menopause clinic is.

ArtfullyCrumpled · 18/04/2024 13:16

Yes, sorry I mean specifically the decision around prescribing puberty blockers and gender-affirming hormones for 16 and 17 year olds at Sandyford.

Misthios · 18/04/2024 13:20

Agree that children should not ever be given "gender affirming medication". Because they are children.

I just can't wait for the elections. I really hope they get a rocket under them, the state of the parliament and the poor quality of the representatives, it's just an embarrassment.

Soigneur · 18/04/2024 13:25

I suspect many who vote SNP do so in the same way that some gender critical women vote Tory. They only agree with them on one thing, but that one thing is big enough to override all the other things that they disagree on. Such is often the way with single issue voting.

Timetodownsize · 18/04/2024 13:43

@JennyLake You took the words out of my mouth. I wasnt living here in 1997 but moved back here because I was optimistic about the future of Scotland. It breaks my heart to see what we've become and I wonder what Donald Dewar would think !

goodkidsmaadhouse · 18/04/2024 13:50

There's a lot to hate, for sure (I'd actually forgotten all about the Named Person scheme!). I was a big fan of the baby boxes when introduced as I was at the time volunteering with new mothers and it was very helpful being able to point out that it was a safe sleep space etc. However looking at the research it doesn't seem to have had much impact The health impact of Scotland's Baby Box Scheme: a natural experiment evaluation using national linked health data - The Lancet Public Health
I found middle class parents were much more likely to actually use the clothes, toys etc as (massive generalisation) they were less fussed about being seen to be using freebies. This was a few years back when they were new and novel.

It sure isn't free. First pay for 2024/2025 - shows an additional £1500 a year off to ScotGov to waste. At this stage it would be cheaper to pay for tuition fees if you look at the additional tax at a household level.

Jeezitneverends · 18/04/2024 17:29

Peter Murrel’s been re-arrested 🤣🤣🤣🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Misthios · 18/04/2024 17:42

Let's hope they charge him. Poor Useless, he'll never be away from the court, what with the dodgy Murrells and his even dodgier brother in law.

Superfans · 18/04/2024 17:43

not read the full thread but came to say totally agree. They are incompetent useless totalitarian fanatics with zero insight into how useless they are. They get given an easy ride by the media and guardian class for being not the tories but they are actually hopeless. Scottish Labour are no better. Mhari Black is awful, you’ve got to be kidding. Kate Forbes seems sensible, only issue is they need kicked out and she might stop that!

Jeezitneverends · 18/04/2024 18:04

Anyone else all over the 6pm news?🤣🤣

Hoping this is a re-arrest then charge

Misthios · 18/04/2024 18:08

Murrell arrested, missed the climate change targets - 2nd and 3rd stories on the national news.

What a shambles.

likepebblesonabeach · 18/04/2024 18:08

Those poor neighbours are going to be totally scunnered that all that journalists are camped out on Nicolas street again
Also how embarrassing for that little naff Harvey to have to admit he can't deliver his 2030 climate target.
The man is the epitome of incompetence
