I loathe the Scottish Government

I loathe the Scottish Government. I want to see the SNP/Green Party coalition roast in hell! They can take any MSP who voted for the Gender Reform Bill or the Hate Crime Laws with them. Is it now a hate crime for a Scottish Woman to say that?

I am sure so many YES voters are quietly thinking 'thank fuck' that it was a NO

I certainty am.

Elmo Hello GIF by Sesame Street

My people!!!
(don't worry it's just Elmo not the fucking hate monster)

I could not loath the SNP/greens more - they are a good way down the path of utterly destroying our country. Education, health, transport (omfg the potholes!!!), policing they've fucked it all, no one knows what a woman is 🙄 but they sure as hell know who the stunning & brave must be feted at all costs ones are, they waste money at an astounding rate, consistently produce ridiculously bad legislation, think you are competent to vote at 16 but can't really be held responsible for RAPE until you're 25 🤬.

I could rant on for a while....

PrimalLass · 19/04/2024 13:23

There is a hard core of 100% loyal SNP voters though, who loathe and detest the English Tories, and who have totally bought the myth that in an independent scotland we will be back in the EU in 10 minutes flat and it'll be free money for everyone.

I voted yes. Nothing has put me off Indy more than the behaviour of these people. Calling everyone yoons and everything an MI5 plot.

PrimalLass · 19/04/2024 13:30

My MP is Neale Hanvey. He's very very unlikely to get in again, but it's such a shame. The idiots will vote some Labour or SNP nonentity instead.

Misthios · 19/04/2024 13:37

I know lots of people like you @PrimalLass , who took the 2014 referendum result on the chin, moved forwards, carried on voting in whatever way they felt was best and just got on with life. Every party has it's lunatic fringe but the SNP seem to have a real hardcore of people who have not moved on in the last decade and have just got nastier and nastier as the years have gone on.

Misthios · 19/04/2024 13:39

And on the news this lunchtime - Glen Sannox launched 2017, only expected to come into service end of July 2024.

There was a lot of hope and I think many of us just thought 'let's take a chance'. Then Brexit happened. I work in an area very affected by Brexit and now untangling Scotland from the UK would be even more of a risk. We would have no trade partners at all. The only way to save it would be day 1 access to the EU.

The SNP know this now and that's why they don't actually want independence.

thevegetablesoup · 19/04/2024 13:50

Just so sad reading this thread. I live in the (very) north of England but have always felt a great affinity with Scotland and have lots of friends and family there. I also went to university there and up until very recently would always holiday in the western isles at Easter. We no longer do this because of the ferries but this is nothing compared to what the residents of the islands are having to put up with day in day out.

I have a lot of friends who are teachers in Scotland and what they tell me is just so depressing. Education isn't perfect in England by any means but it seems light years ahead now in terms of both curriculum and behaviour.

And as for the misogyny inherent in the snp, there just are no words.

Would love for JKR to form her own party and sort it all out!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 19/04/2024 14:20

One thing that always sticks in my craw is when SNP politicians whinge about Westminster not respecting the democratically expressed views of the Scottish electorate - when they did not respect the democratically expressed view of the Scottish electorate as expressed in the 2014 referendum.

I don’t think they respected it for 24 hours. The hypocrisy sickens me.

marshmallowmix · 19/04/2024 14:47

@Morwenscapacioussleeves agree 100%!!

They have systematically destroyed Scotland...hopefully Humza will disappear he is utterly useless and obsessed by Gaza meanwhile Scotland is on it's knees.

I wouldn't vote Alba because I now don't believe in Independence as I wouldn't trust our politicians (with a few exceptions) to run a cake stand at a school fayre, let alone an independent country. Nor would they want to, frankly, because they need the fall back of big, bad Westminister.

However, Neale has been exceptional at standing up for women and children, doggedly holding the Government to account. There's been several, across all parties, who have been brilliant. I sort of wish there could be a cross party party of all of them!

PrimalLass · 19/04/2024 15:02

I don't either right now but he deserves my vote for being such a stand-out in all of this. Plus he's a good local MP.

pastapesto · 19/04/2024 16:51

I voted yes. Would not now. Live in a Tory/snp area and feel I have no one to vote for.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 20/04/2024 12:08

Michael Matheson.
If he were in the private sector he'd be sacked. Fraudulent expenses claims and breaches of data security.

The 1979 referendum was the first time I was able to vote. Voted no then and no in 1997 and no in 2014.

If there were a referendum to get rid of Holyrood I'd vote yes.

Misthios · 20/04/2024 12:23

Matheson is an absolute disgrace and would definitely have been sacked. In fact, it wouldn't have got as far as him being able to stream football overseas because it would have been flagged that he hadn't updated his SIM card after several times of asking and he'd have been hauled in to get it sorted. And Covid Maggie Ferrier would have been sacked for bringing her employer into disrepute. And Natalie McGarry would have been sacked for common and garden theft.

And on the other hand, Fergus Ewing would not have been sacked by any reasonable employer for daring to disagree with them.

But in good news, the idiot greens appear to be throwing a tantrum over the gender thing and threatening to withdraw their support.

Waitwhat23 · 20/04/2024 12:29

I saw an amusing comment somewhere about the Greens threatening to dissolve the Bute House agreement which basically said 'haven't they understood that the point in blackmail is that you threaten something everyone doesn't want to happen, not something everyone would love to see happen?'

If Matheson - and many many more of the SNP - were actually in the real world of the private sector they would struggle to get similar positions of responsibility in the first place.

It’s a tragedy the low calibre at Holyrood. A total waste of Scottish taxpayers cash and frankly, an embarrassment. Worse post 2014 when any halfwit with a yellow rosette got voted for, with no thought given to their experience or capability.

Seemed more efficient when there were 9 (?) regions eg Strathclyde pre-devo instead of 32 councils and a Holyrood which seems intent on pushing through virtue-signalling bad law. Not to mention the vanity spending of budget in areas of non-devolved responsibility, all so Yousaf, Sturgeon et al can play at being wurrld leaders.

Minerva14 · 20/04/2024 18:46

The only “Yes” vote I would be interested in, is for the dissolution of Holyrood.
It is nothing but a burden on Scottish tax payers.

Linearforeignbody · 21/04/2024 08:08

The tactical voting for me says I have to vote Lib Dem but the current Lib Dem MP can’t define a woman. So it’s looking like conservative as the second choice.
We were speaking about Murrel and his arrest with some friends and all they could say was how bad Tory MPs are . It’s so blinkered. The nasty Tory overlords etc etc

tastydiner · 21/04/2024 10:07

I am at an absolute loss as to who to vote for at the GE. A complete loss. No to SNP, absolutely not conservative, can’t see me voting labour, we don’t have a good Lib Dem candidate. Lost really.

Misthios · 21/04/2024 10:22

What's most important to you, @tastydiner ? You vote according to that. It's a different decision for all of us as we all have different things which are most important. I don't think you will ever be 100% aligned with every single thing any party stands for. There are lots of "who should I vote for" websites which run you through how you feel on various issues and suggest accordingly.

Only handed over to Calmac at the end of July, who will carry out sea trials, which can take months. So it won't be in service this summer...

For me it's keeping the SNP out. So Conservative or Lib Dem.

CocoapuffPuff · 21/04/2024 12:36

I'd vote for devolution to end, today if I could. And I was a yes voter in 2014.

They took my yes and crapped on it from a great height, told me last December that as I have tits and a fanny, I'm a second or third class citizen.

We don't have bright enough people to run a cake stall at the school, never mind a country.

Sadly, this is how I feel too, lifelong SNP and voted yes, so glad we didn’t get it. I will never give SNP my vote again and I know so many ex party members who feel the same. I’m just scared that this is all deliberate, if we got separation there would be no need for the SNP, makes you think.
