I loathe the Scottish Government

I loathe the Scottish Government. I want to see the SNP/Green Party coalition roast in hell! They can take any MSP who voted for the Gender Reform Bill or the Hate Crime Laws with them. Is it now a hate crime for a Scottish Woman to say that?

Every government becomes unpopular over time. Yet despite everything that has happened it seems likely the SNP will still be the largest party after the next election. Some people must still vote for them.

Some people do - the majority don’t, and if the polls are anything to go by that majority will increase at the next election.

I suppose if you have nothing to lose you’ll continue to vote SNP, but for those of us who want better for ourselves, our families and the country the SNP consistently fails to deliver.

I hear you. I know a few of my peers whose interest in politics goes as far as wanting independence/hating Tories and that's it so will default vote for them, being wilfully ignorant of what a shit show they are and continue to be. I'm politically homeless now.

When the SNP and their supporters talk about hating the ‘Tories,’ we all know they really mean ‘the English’. It’s a sort of code word. I cannot bear the way they pose as ‘the good guys’ - the morally superior party fighting the nasty Tory oppressors. In reality, they are every bit as hate-filled and bigoted as the worst right-wing monster. But because their bigotry and hatred are directed towards posh, middle class English people, somehow that’s ok.

Rainbowshit · 16/04/2024 17:38

I absolutely despise them too. The sooner the SNP and greens are gone the better.

Also not keen on any of the alternatives but at least there's some sign of the gender lunacy abating in the Labour Party.

Misthios · 16/04/2024 17:48

I had a chat with the prospective Lib Dem candidate for my constituency on the doorstep a couple of weeks ago - really nice lady. She is in with a good shout as our seat has swung back and forward between SNP and Lib Dem over the years and the current SNP MSP has been largely invisible for the last 5 years - not her fault admittedly as she has been unwell, but most people are like Amy who?

I said to her I would struggle to vote Lib Dem because of the gender woo nonsense and the "a woman is anyone who says they are a woman" bollocks. She reminded me that it is a rare thing that you find a party where you believe 100% in everything they stand for which is a fair point. The gender woo stuff can be reversed and there is signs that it has peaked and the backlash has already started, spearheaded by Queen JKR.

There are usually some very good tactical voting sites which spring up before any election advising who you should vote for to give the SNP a kicking.

100% this - brava 👏

BlueThursday · 16/04/2024 18:48

@Misthios i got a visit from her too she’s very nice

Willie Rennie was in the street too and not for the first time. They are putting all efforts in to try swing it back

Pearsplums · 16/04/2024 18:51

I really want to be more altruistic, but struggle to get past the many thousands of pounds more it costs me to live here in Scotland rather than in England.

I feel if I at least believed in what was being done with the money then that might be easier.

Rainbowshit · 16/04/2024 18:52

I take it the vote tomorrow to repeal the hate crime bill will go exactly the same way as the vote today regarding a statement on the cass review?

I assume the 61 were all SNP/green.

So angry. 😡

This is me too. I cannot abide the waste and failed initiatives; the poor fiscal discipline and the creation of laws and issues specifically to oppose the UK government.
I am in Aberdeenshire, and being ‘ruled’ from the Central Belt is as remote as being ruled by Westminster.

TwinklyPeachScroller · 16/04/2024 19:03

Absolutely agreed. Am actually embarrassed for them and to live in a country run by them.

Pearsplums · 16/04/2024 19:04

@Dearg I’m central belt, but it doesn’t make it any better 😅

I genuinely didn’t mind at all when the first tax rises came in, or even the stamp duty etc. I thought it could make Scotland better and was proud to be contributing.

But now I just feel like I am finding our demise. I might as well just move down the A1 a few dozen miles.

Misthios · 16/04/2024 19:12

Also @Hartley99 you are spot on about "Tories" being nat-speak for English. DH is English, he moved here for uni and never moved back, he's been here longer than he was there, Scottish wife, three Scottish kids, bucketloads of tax paid over the year and still gets the "away back where you came from" by the knuckle draggers.

And yes, any vote is a waste of time because SNP MSPs are not allowed to deviate from the party line. At all. Ever.

RaraRachael · 16/04/2024 19:20

I'd forgotten all the shit that was the Named Person Scheme. I was teaching at the time and nobody, absolutely nobody, I knew thought it was a good idea. Yet they pressed on with it, even setting up training courses for HTs to help them implement it. Our HT refused to go as she said it hadn't been a thing when she got the job and if it had been, she wouldn't have applied. Thankfully it died the death, but yet another load of money wasted.

I hate them with a passion.

When are the next S Gov elections?

CranfordScones · 16/04/2024 19:27

If I were a Scot (I have lived there) I'd be sorely disappointed. But that's politics all round it seems...

Misthios · 16/04/2024 19:27

The next Scottish Parliament election is due to be held on Thursday 7 May 2026.

If you remember the 2021 election it was at a time where we were still all living under huge restrictions on movement and seeing people in our houses, but they managed to run an election.

HappierTimesAhead · 16/04/2024 19:33

Humza seems to be aiming his election 'campaign' squarely at transwomen which is presumably quite a small proportion of the electorate 🤔

I disagree with her. There’s a whole generation who have been taught that men can be women. If this isn’t stamped out immediately then it never will be.

There is however a section, including a lot of women, who prioritise men's feelings as they think they are being progressive and 'kind' and can't or won't grasp how basic safeguarding works. Including but not limited to those who have spent 5 mins in captured universities, or people who just want to be part of something.

TheBanffie · 16/04/2024 20:31

The Liberal Democrats have accepted donations from Ferring pharmaceuticals - a drug company making puberty
blockers. https://www.technicalpolitics/
Major conflict of interest and a strong reason not to vote for them, particularly with the Scottish Sandyford clinic continuing to use these drugs despite the Cass report.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 16/04/2024 21:50

Me too. And I was a staunch SNP supporter previously. What a fool I was.

Well thank god she’s not leader!

Hello tribe of mine!

Current Scotgov are a shower of absolute shite…I don’t like Scotland very much right now

Waitwhat23 · 16/04/2024 22:19

I've entirely lost any sort of confidence in the Scottish Government and Parliament as a whole. With a (very few) exceptions, the vast majority of our elected representatives, across all parties, appear to be craven fools, easily swayed by the lobbying of groups with an agenda and our entire county's major institutions seem particularly susceptible to institutional capture and are unable of making any sound legislation or policies. The named person debacle, the Hate Crime bullshite, the opposition to the six words amendment, the GRR bill, the recycling scheme, the ferries.... you could go on and on. There's no second chamber or seemingly any checks on shite legislation being pushed through, aside from section 35.

I used to be proud of Scotland. Now, I am not just not proud but actively distrustful of most of our major institutions.

Rainbowshit · 16/04/2024 22:27

It's quite telling that even the strident Nats that used to frequent this board, defending everything SNP seem to have melted away.

I also would have never ever thought I'd be agreeing with Wings.

Waitwhat23 · 16/04/2024 22:27

And look at the shower of shite we've got as politicians! The spittle flecked feral potato, fucking Meep, Lorna 'you can't catch me' Slater, 'I did it all for Beth' ACH, the odious Robison etc etc etc.

They're also ridiculously influenced by know nothing student activists who can't bear to hear any opinion which differs from their own.

Proper embarrassing.
