But you are actually making peace harder to achieve

snickersandmarsandbounty · 23/10/2023 12:59

That is what international diplomacy is for

Regardless of what your motivations are in joining such marches, they only serve to spread antisemitism and should be stopped. Shame on those joining in. You can feel for the innocents in Palestine from the comfort of your own living room.

No they don’t “only serve to spread anti semitism” they actually help to promote awareness of the plight of the Palestinian people, not just in this immediate crisis, but in general. They are also about wanting our government to hear public opinion.
In the UK we are allowed (much as the current government would like to stop it), to have peaceful protests and rallies to express our opinions publicly. It’s called democracy, you might not like that, but I personally value that right.

No we don’t have to stay silent in public, only daring to express our support for the Palestinian people in our own homes!!

Baffled1989 · 23/10/2023 13:24

@MissyB1 well done for replying but you would be as well speaking to a brick wall. Just imagine if it was your 2 year olds head blown off by rocket with such force, and telling other nations “it’s okay, don’t make a fuss, just quietly discuss it in your own home”…sure Jan!

Baffled1989 · 23/10/2023 13:32

if you do want to educate yourself a little and see with your own eyes the brutality being carried out in Gaza then take a look at these profiles on IG.

@nouralsaqa
@motaz_azaiza - THE most important voice in Gaza right now
@byplestia

Are just a few of the Gaza journalists I follow, it is absolutely horrific but the world does need to see what’s happening. The sheer volume of damage and death, mostly to babies and young children that our western media will never report on.

GoldenHurst · 23/10/2023 13:34

The deafening silence from posters about how British Jews might be feeling right now in their own communities says it all.

Baffled1989 · 23/10/2023 13:45

I imagine they feel the same way as Palestinians @GoldenHurst only the difference being the people in Gaza has very few voices and support whereas Israel people in and out has had the backing of rich nations and and increased security around their workplaces, schools and streets. What’s your point?

I’ve been following similar, but different accounts.

These accounts are hard to watch and they’ve left me in tears and feeling a helplessness that I’ve never experienced before. People need to see it. People need to know.

But it is not as easy for me to ignore the fact that Israeli children have also been brutalised and butchered in ways which we’ve not seen here in Europe for close to a century. I’ve seen videos at similar protests of speakers calling those who carried out the attacks in Israel “heroes” to rapturous applause. I’ve seen posters of the Israeli babies who have been taken hostage torn down.

The antisemitism in this situation is impossible to ignore. It is unacceptable. It is frightening. And it needs to be discussed and called out.

GoldenHurst · 23/10/2023 14:00

I’ve made all the points I want to make on a thread about a pro Palestinian march which took place in Glasgow, Scotland.

To suggest the pro Palestinian movement doesn’t have a voice is untrue.
On university campuses, for example, the length and breadth of the UK it has a much stronger voice than any Jewish representation.

If the movement has been unsuccessful, it is in large part due to Hamas and yet I’m unaware of anti Hamas demos.
Happy to be corrected if that’s wrong.

I’m going to bow out as unfortunately this has gone the same way as so many threads.
It’s all there in black and white in the UK in 2023.

Absolutely shocking

WarmWinterSun · 23/10/2023 14:06

Shame on those marching who said nothing about the plight of the murdered, raped and kidnapped Jewish civilians, including those women, children, babies and the elderly being held as hostages by Hamas. The terrorists will view these marches as support, and all of this disgusting killing has been caused by Hamas’ wicked behaviour. Shame, shame, shame.

Are you joking? Palestinians have had lots of support! HELLO, there are marches for them, and at those marches people are calling the evil scum who just kidnapped tortured and raped innocent Israeli civilians, heroes.

Who did the children murdered and captured by Hamas trap in a cage that it was understandable they were bitten?

I'm sorry you have such a limited amount of sympathy.

GotMooMilk · 23/10/2023 14:29

@ganondoof ultimately Israel’s historic behaviour is to blame.

BigBoysDontCry · 23/10/2023 14:30

"I save my sympathy for the babies and children of Palestine who are completely innocent in all this."

Unlike the tortured and murdered children of Israel who presumably are not completely innocent?

You're justifying the butchering of babies. WTF is wrong with you?

GoldenHurst · 23/10/2023 14:33

Go on a pro Palestine march and you too can stand beside the likes of GotMooMilk.
No thanks.

FinnsFineFrog · 23/10/2023 14:38

I don't support these demos at all, they're are stirring up a mob mentality.

People seemingly don't know better and believe they're doing the right and moral thing in parroting free free Palstine. The same psychology was at play during Hitler's regime, a mob mentality with people led to believe they're doing the right and good thing as inspired by a bunch of thugs.

I'd attend a peace march with a commitment to non-violent language and no flags, that supports peace in the region and fucking acknowledges the sheer historical, political and social complexities involved. Simple slogans and all that is no use. People don't understand what they're doing. It's populism, probably supported by Russia, who are laughing at us.

I am fucking disgusted at what Hamas did to the people in Israel. I am also fucked off at Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel is in a right state. Both countries have innocent people suffering under their leadership but only one country wants to eradicate the other, Gaza.

There can only be one acceptable movement and that is a Peace movement. Not that friggin simplistic free Palestine nonsense.

backtowinter · 23/10/2023 14:41

@GotMooMilk Wow

Hamas fighters?

Terrorist scum, you mean

Iwantcakeeveryday · 23/10/2023 14:43

I save my sympathy for the babies and children of Palestine who are completely innocent in all this

This is disgusting and implies that the victims of Hamas, both recent and past, are not innocent.

FinnsFineFrog · 23/10/2023 14:47

@GotMooMilk

Hamas fighters will have seen family members killed, beaten and imprisoned for no reason, even children. They are hugely traumatised individuals because of this.

This is true.

Hamas killed, beat and imprisoned their family members even children. They are traumatised because they inflict the worst atrocities on their own flesh and blood, their brothers and sisters. You'd have to end up pretty fucked up in the head doing that for years.

And you're pretty rude comparing innocent Palestinians to dogs, i'd say, that's racist and unacceptable.

Littlebluetruck · 23/10/2023 15:02

@GotMooMilk

I am bitterly disappointed that your comment has been deleted because, as disgusting as it was to read, it demonstrated the point I’ve been trying to make on this thread better than any of my posts could ever have done.

Prior to 7 October 2023 I believed we lived in a world where the raping of women and torturing and butchering of children and babies was never justified in any circumstance. But now I am painfully aware that the raping of women and torturing and butchering of children and babies is only acceptable and justified when the victims are Jewish.

I save my sympathy for the babies and children of Palestine who are completely innocent in all this

I also believed that, prior to 7 October 2023, all children and babies were innocent. But now I am painfully aware that that does not extend to Jewish children and babies.

The last time this kind of sentiment gained momentum in Europe, one of the worst horrors that mankind has inflicted upon mankind happened.

Your post isn’t just disgusting, it’s absolutely terrifying.
