The vast majority of the staff will be clerical, canteen, cleaners, security and maintenance etc etc, people with no access to the credit cards or expenses. People not travelling or having jollies etc.

Chersfrozenface · 10/08/2023 12:16

The question is, how many government corporate credit cards had been issued and were valid during the period in question.

And who were they issued to - not individuals' names, obviously, but how many people of each civil service grade and how many in each department.

mibbelucieachwell · 10/08/2023 12:24

DH has a civil service credit card. He only uses it for occasional trips away for food. His trips away haven't resumed since covid.

I cannot BELIEVE that the cybernats are trying to justify this by saying it's only £100 per employee.

Because that makes spending on nail polish and nights at the bowling absolutely fine, doesn't it? 🙄

All the journalists have is a list of everything purchased. Without any knowledge of who authorised what and why it is impossible to draw conclusions.

SirChenjins · 10/08/2023 13:01

I think it's perfectly possible to draw conclusions.

Notapartyanimal · 28/08/2023 06:42

Yet more allegations over the weekend...

I read that. I can certainly see how safe seats could attract that sort of corruption especially when you consider how few people are involved in selection. But it also struck me just how open the regional lists are to this corruption. We know the SNP manipulated their selection process for regional lists to favour certain candidates.

Aaron95 · 28/08/2023 09:54

Notapartyanimal · 28/08/2023 06:42

So no actual evidence of anyone having donated money in return for a seat. Only the unsubstanciated claim of an anonymous individual who decided towrite a letter to police in Manchester.

ArabeIIaScott · 28/08/2023 10:25

Well, that and various unanswered questions about the published accounts, of course.

I'm sure there's a perfectly innocent explanation for all of it. I mean, I hope there is!

I'm sure the various levels of murkiness can all be clarified to the satisfaction of the police. I mean, it's not looking great for them at the moment but surely no party would be as corrupt as the SNP are currently appearing and there's an innocent explanation for it all.

There accounts show many unrecorded elements at best poor book keeping which for a large party is frankly piss poor at worst the allegations are found to be correct.

Either way not great for a major political party which had its treasury committee resign over lack of transparency is it?!

Which would bad enough for a book club but the SNP are the Scottish Government in charge of national budgets.

ArabeIIaScott · 28/08/2023 15:38

It feels like we're all on a bus with no flipping driver ...

SirChenjins · 28/08/2023 16:11

Ahhh, but independence and Westminster @ArabeIIaScott ....

Catsolitude · 28/08/2023 17:45

Anonymous person in Manchester? Remind me, where are the SNP’s accountants based? Whose professional duty requires them to advise authorities of any suspicion of wrongdoing. Maybe some donations for raffles etc that couldn’t be substantiated?

2userspast3 · 28/08/2023 17:50

Yes, that's a very interesting coincidence.

Agree it’s such a coincidence 😁

And people trust this bunch of chancers with our country’s future . The Manchester connection is interesting . Strange no Scottish company was able to step in and help with accounts . Wings have a big piece on this so worth a look . He’s dived in fairly deep and if this had been Westminster it would have been all over MSM with resignations all round . There’s clearly someone paying the piper

TheBelmont · 09/10/2023 06:01

Well hello…it’s been a while….

New Chief of Police Scotland starts today…what do we think…

Opportunity to conclude on Branchform…

Or

hope that with Livingstone gone, everyone will forget about it all now and it just gets quietly closed…

It's not up to the police whether to prosecute anyone or not. That decision lies with the Procurator Fiscal.

That said I have no doubt the current head of Police Scotland has been delaying passing this case over because of the huge political ramifications. It's ridiculous that a decision hasn't been made one way or another. Incompetence is one thing but either the was criminal behavour or there wasn't and dragging this out for over 2 years is buck passing of the highest order. Either charge people or announce that no charges will be brought.

SirChenjins · 09/10/2023 14:52

I think it will be quietly closed - it will be overtaken by other events in time and people will stop caring . The power structures are interwoven very closely up here.

Edited

This is my fear too. I think a lot of people don’t understand just how complex an investigation this is, and the earlier arrests will have directed further enquiries, but I have a real fear it’s going to come to nothing.

I think the new chief is going to be even more of an SNP puppet…we just have to hope that the recent by election is a taste of what’s to come

ArabeIIaScott · 10/10/2023 08:23

Oh, the SNP is finished. Done. Over.

The bigger problem may be that by the time the various cases come to a conclusion, it will be irrelevant because they won't be in power anymore.

SirChenjins · 10/10/2023 08:32

I agree - it will be interesting to see but she will have been hand picked for a reason.

@ArabeIIaScott I really hope so - unless there are changes at the top we’ll just get more of the same.
