AIBU?
I was not there when my partner bought us an air fryer. I became aware of the transaction when I saw it on the kitchen worktop and the details on the credit card statement that month, but I didn’t know we had an air fryer, until I knew. So I didn’t actually know. AIBU?

FFS 🙄

storminamooncup · 25/04/2023 20:24

honestly what the fuck is wrong with simply saying "no comment" if you don't want to implicate yourself or lie about knowing nothing.

TokyoSushi · 25/04/2023 20:26

Checking in!

Oh my, so he's remembered that he did know about the 'campaign vehicle' now?!

Honestly the whole thing is absurd and I am enjoying every minute of it! I really didn't expect this to be my favourite political story/situation of the year so far!

I wonder if they're going to blame the whole sorry lot on Pete? Nic's going to claim that she new nothing of any of it, hated the MIL and never went round there to see the bloody camper van anyway?! 😄

I also wonder if she has been quietly arrested? Surely it would be in the public interest for people to know? And as for how HY is going to get on... The whole thing is utterly fascinating!

Chersfrozenface · 25/04/2023 20:27

Senior SNP people do seem to have very worrying memory problems.

Is it something in the water, do you think,?

TokyoSushi · 25/04/2023 20:28

Just adding this to the new thread, it's already handy for a simple 'what's this all about then?'

Thank you TokyoSushi. I've read that a few times, and it still all seems totally bizarre.

Aah, that thirty foot shiny thing, I remember now. 😁

Pure dead brilliant Grin

LongWhiteCar · 25/04/2023 20:49

I’m still concerned that Nicola Sturgeon will get away with this.
How does she have the brass neck to show her face?
She has overseen this total shitshow for years.

For the first time in my life, I’m embarrassed to be Scottish and not just because of the utter half wits that make up the Scottish Govt but because of the people I know, friends and family who appear to be defending them still.
Or there’s the deafening silence where we talk about every topic under the sun rather than total shambles which is Holyrood.

Like a couple of other posters, I’m related to an SNP politician.
He’s a nice guy, good fun and happy memories of us as children but he has zero academic qualifications, was brought up in an anti English environment with a massive chip on all their shoulders.
Absolutely no idea how to run a business, no experience of project management and a very shaky idea of how the economy works.
I believe he’s one of the SNP’s more talented politicians.

I knew the calibre within the SNP was poor but every day I’m shocked at how amateur, lacking in accountability, lazy, disingenuous, dishonest and embarrassing the SNP MPs and MSPs are.

For me, it’s the ferry scandal that’s one of the worst aspects of this.
Who goes to a half built ship with painted windows and pretends it’s ready to provide a service to the islands?
What did Sturgeon and co do after that charade?
Get in the car and say that was a right good day out?
How could any of them sleep?
Why weren’t there rockets up folks arses to get this fixed?

It’s the sheer failure, lack of ambition, dishonesty that I cannot stand.
It’s utterly shameful.

Any other person, in any other job would be sacked and quite rightly.
Instead of which the gravy train kept chugging along.

I was brought up in a house where robust debate was expected and enjoyed, where different points of view were listened to a respected but quite honestly if I encounter anyone who continues to vote SNP after all of this, I will view them as stupid, deluded, buttoned up the back and best avoided.
It’s such a pity that a significant chunk of the Scottish electorate fall in to that category.

He has now remembered the motorhome...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-65385825

This is the level of bonkers I needed to continue in this saga. Grin

TokyoSushi · 25/04/2023 20:56

According to Twitter the motor home has gone through as 'Office Equipment' and nobody's questioned it...

SquidwardBound · 25/04/2023 21:01

Piffpaffpoff · 25/04/2023 19:11

She's definitely been in Dunfermline (where the MIL lives) - it was in the local paper that she'd been spotted in Asda!

Maybe she went to Asda to avoid having to visit her MIL with Peter. Every single time.

It all started years ago, with a sherry-fuelled Christmas argument. Nic’s been visiting Dunfermline Asda while Peter has a cup of tea and some fondant fancies with his mum for years now.

I keep asking accountant friends how a treasurer wouldn’t notice £100000 going out the account and not question it. I’ve been a treasurer once (for a very small sports club) and it just blows my mind.

At my tennis club we have to have committee approval to buy a new bloody tennis net!

NowThatsWhatICall22 · 25/04/2023 21:17

TokyoSushi · 25/04/2023 20:56

According to Twitter the motor home has gone through as 'Office Equipment' and nobody's questioned it...

To be fair, they’ve perhaps allegedly used it for storing emails and other office sundries such as burner phones, so it’s a giant filing cabinet which would qualify as ‘office equipment’

storminamooncup · 25/04/2023 21:17

It would be cheaper just to book a bloody travel lodge in each place they wanted to visit!

Merrilydancing · 25/04/2023 21:19

This is an utter embarrassment and getting more farcical by the day.

How on earth anyone could even consider voting for them is beyond belief.

Awrite · 25/04/2023 21:40

Signing in. I suspect there is a lot more to come. Not just wee Nicky's arrest...

(I don't know anything, just guessing.)

Notapartyanimal · 25/04/2023 21:43

Thanks for the new thread, just checking in. Low key 'arrest' very interesting ... I have a feeling we'll hear more before the long weekend.

Not based on anything!!

KnickerlessParsons · 25/04/2023 21:48

user567543 · 25/04/2023 19:18

Are we saying the SNP couldn’t run a small community group? Surely treasurer pre-approval for non trivial purchases is standard practice everywhere…

What they need is dual mandates -
like we have in Guiding.
Won't work if husband and wife are "in it" together though.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 25/04/2023 21:53

It’s unusual to see her wobbly voiced, isn’t it?

she’s pure shiteing herself

TokyoSushi · 25/04/2023 22:27

Just seen the clip of Nicola, she looks on the verge of tears, she must have known but obvs really didn't think they'd get found out.

I suppose the thing is we've no idea what's gone on behind closed doors, whose idea it was, what the conversations have been, honestly, what a mess!

MrSheepy · 25/04/2023 22:36

Given how low calibre of the majority of SNPs seems to be, the centralisation around NS makes more sense now. If that’s who I was surrounded by, I’d want to make sure I was making all the decisions too

LongWhiteCar · 25/04/2023 22:45

I’m not sure about that.
Sturgeon and Murrell seem to have sidelined anyone with any talent or competence.
Joanna Cherry being a case in point.
I think Sturgeon has been a shocking manager, total control freak and power mad.
All the ( misplaced in my opinion) adulation she received during Covid seems to have gone to her head.

I hope she is shitting herself.
She completely rejected the concerns of women about the GRR as ‘ not valid’ .
Well, I hope she now knows what it’s like to feel frightened and vulnerable.
The difference is that this situation would appear to be largely of her own making.

Northernsouloldies · 25/04/2023 22:58

With you on the, control freak and power mad. Never criticised by her back benches. They would have been committing career suicide and they knew it.
