Anyone would imagine that they simply don’t have any actual ideas beyond some vague emotionally-driven aspiration towards ‘independence’.

Don’t ask them to have any workable ideas on the detail of that though. That would be ridiculous. It’s not the SNP’s job to do that kind of thing. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Just like Brexit.

Brexit/Scexit - may the gods help us all

The Sunday Times had an article about Mhairi Black and that her star was in the ascendant . ( God help us) . To counter act the comments some of her SNP allies said she was lazy and her work rate had regularly been called into question . Also her and Flynn s tub thumping sound bites go down well with the hard core but alienate others .

I check on the Wings comments now and again and there are about 3 sensible heads suggesting until we can sort out the economy and all our other devolved issues ( never mind how an independent Scotland would operate ) there is no point in braying for a referendum. However as you can imagine the truth hurts and their comments do not go down well . I think someone mentioned on here that a lot of the Nats diehards believe Mel Gibson is King and a lot on the Wings forum are of a similar ilk .

Auditor’s statement for Westminster short money is due tomorrow…wonder if the accountants are planning an all nighter?

Auditor’s statement for Westminster short money is due tomorrow…wonder if the accountants are planning an all nighter?

I saw something on Twitter this morning saying it’s been done, it a verifiable source so I’m not quoting it, but it seems strange that if they’ve met the deadline, there’s no fanfare, you know what they’re usually like!

Whatthediddlyfeck · 30/05/2023 07:53

Sorry, that’s should say it’s NOT a verifiable source

storminamooncup · 30/05/2023 08:35

Twitter is also saying that NS is 'seriously considering' becoming a foster carer.

SquidwardBound · 30/05/2023 08:39

As if children in foster care need the attention that would come from being part of Nicola’s life.

There was a tally of all Scottish MPs' contributions to Westminster debates, and she was knocking around at the bottom of the table.

Plus, she is one of the MPs who may lose their seats, according to this:

Mhairi Black among SNP MPs who could lose seat to Labour, poll finds

Humza Yousaf's party is on course for its worst result at a UK general election since 2010, research by YouGov suggests.

TheBelmont · 30/05/2023 17:53

No chat on the accounts…I’m wondering how much professional judgement is allowed when determining whether an expense has been “incurred exclusively in relation to the party's parliamentary business.” Women’s razors? “You couldn’t expect me to turn up to parliament with HAIRY LEGS surely?!”

OP posts:
TheBelmont · 30/05/2023 20:05

That conflict of interest is SO blatant, it’s amazing that it has still not been addressed. It is going to form the basis of case studies for future generations of politics, law, history and other social science students as an example of what could do wrong…and Humza is studiously silent on the matter. Where are the grown ups?

TheBelmont · 30/05/2023 20:07

They can’t do anything as that would be an admission it is fucked up and they are not going to do that.

Per the BBC, the Westminster accounts have been filed before the deadline with "a clean audit certificate".

I wonder whether there's amy checking or they just take the auditors' word.

Stephen Flynn and SNP MPs in Commons

SNP's Westminster group submits accounts on time

The party faced losing some of its public funding if it did not file its audited accounts by midnight.

TheBelmont · 31/05/2023 19:28

Very interesting….now on to the party accounts…I predict rather more difficult to audit. The Westminster group is a different animal.

it’s an interesting question on who audits the auditors…the Financial Reporting Council undertakes quality reviews on the big accounting firms…I dont know if that extends to tiny players like AMS.

My bbc app just binged to tell me.

Well that's fair made my day.

Yet another one tripping over myself to get to this thread 😂

No bookie would take a bet on “no comment” or “I don’t recall” interview though🙄

annabelindajane · 11/06/2023 14:59

There is a God ….

just in time for tomorrow’s headlines

SquidwardBound · 11/06/2023 15:01

The bbc article is hilarious.

first paragraph: sturgeon has been arrested

second paragraph: a 52 year old woman has been arrested.

Did they just want to squeeze her age in there for a laugh or something?
