Tell me this is not real please. Scotland's first period dignity officer is a man. A MAN.

I just can't put into words how furious this makes me. Females are having the pis absolutely ripped out of them in Scotland.

What the fuck would a male understand about the indignity of realising you'd leaked through onto your clothes.

About the cold fear when your period is late.

About trying to unwrap a tampon quietly. Etc etc.

I suppose the only saving grace is at least they are not claiming to be a woman.

Why isn’t Nicola Sturgeon stepping up? Why the silence????

Because Nicola doesn't give a fuck about women.

RhannionKPSS · 06/09/2022 19:52

Elsie McSelfie doesn’t care about the rights of women. Every day she & the SNP/ Greens are actively trying to destroy them. The post was paid for by the Scottish government, so the tax payers up here, but you won’t hear a peep from any of them.

KittenKong · 06/09/2022 20:05

I wonder if they paid him off? How much did this all cost us then??

tigger1001 · 06/09/2022 20:13

"ArabellaScott
I'm not happy they scrapped the job. Seems a bit OTT. Why not just hire a suitably qualified woman?

Id be inclined to think its a clear sign that that the intention was not to help re issues of period poverty etc. The intention was simply to virtue signal , be " progressive " .

Given the amount of organisations already set up and the public already donating products to said organisations specifically for schools and work places , there was surely nothing this job entailed that wasn't already being done just without rhe official position."

I agree. This whole thing is just a massive publicity stunt. There wasn't a need for a position to be created.

Because it was a non job created for a friend, rather than a job that was necessary and justifiable. And had they reluctantly employed a woman because they'd have been forced to go through a proper, transparent recruitment process rather than a shoe-in, I'm willing to bet that one with the same experience that PeriodBro had would have been on about £24k.

KittenKong · 06/09/2022 20:50

So he will get a golden handshake then she will find him yet another job?

nice work if you can get it eh?

Tha · 06/09/2022 21:08

@NeverDropYourMooncup NAILED IT 🎯

RhannionKPSS · 07/09/2022 00:02

I think he will go back to his previous job, that his pal also got him.

Notplayingball · 06/09/2022 12:23

Hopefully you are all pleased with yourselves now.

What do you mean @Notplayingball ?

If the role was critical then surely the partnership should have been able to publicly address concerns regarding the appointment, or amend the role, or do re-hiring.

Not bothering to engage with the public, then just cancelling the position reeks of throwing toys out the pram.

How on earth do they plan on carrying out the project sucessfully if this how they do public engagement and social media interaction?

Waitwhat23 · 07/09/2022 11:15

It comes across as very 'I'm taking my ball and going home!', doesn't it?

Festoonlights · 07/09/2022 12:13

I am delighted he was seen off !!! Power to us for getting rid of him.

If they want a 'rethink' let them have their rethink!

We have survived for thousands of years without a 'period officer' I think we will manage a few more years in the wilderness!

Well yes as it appears there is no need for this role so period poverty was obviously all solved.

I do wonder where that excess funding has gone though, hopefully back to the pot.

Poof! And the funding has disappeared just like Jason.

ArabellaScott · 07/09/2022 14:08

I'm hoping they use the spare cash to maybe keep more public loos open. That's something that would really benefit all of us.

Settlement and non disclosure agreement? Payment in lieu of wages?

tigger1001 · 07/09/2022 16:53

Read in local paper that he is considering suing for sex discrimination

Source? Feel like that's unlikely given that it was his mate who got him the job (and will prob get him the next one...)

Well I'm now eating my hat, apologies @tigger1001 Grin

That's insane.

A man who lost his job as period dignity officer is pursuing legal action against the group that hired him.
Jason Grant is taking action under the Equality Act, with the possibility of a sexual discrimination claim.

Notplayingball · 07/09/2022 18:56

I could see where this is going already....he is going to milk this situation for all it's worth. He is a winner either way.

ArabellaScott · 07/09/2022 18:59

Holy wow. That's going to look magic on his CV.

Notplayingball · 07/09/2022 19:03

I think he knew fine well some women would be questioning his appointment and that it would possibly come to him having to leave the post due to backlash.

tigger1001 · 07/09/2022 19:12

@foliageeverywhere sorry I did mean to go find the article elsewhere as it was under a paywall but glad you found it.

I actually just laughed when I read it.

Would love to see them being asked how transparent the interview process was and whether his pal declared that she didn't only know him but had actively recruited him for other posts.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 07/09/2022 19:38

I’m afraid I find it hard to have sympathy. Anyone with an ounce of savvy knew the tin of worms they were opening.

He can tape a couple of moon cups under his eyes to catch his tears.

KittenKong · 07/09/2022 20:04

Has he not got any sensible women in his life that can say ‘look luv, just back away… you are making a show of yourself’.

FayeGovan · 07/09/2022 20:21

I know..but looking at his photo online he doesnt look like a man who takes a telling...
