The railing never ends.

No resilience wankery, all railing welcome, along with good things or humorous asides.

Anyway I'll report back on any queuing - there may be none! A week after being boosted I will be out supporting hospitality as much as I canWink!

ecceromani · 17/12/2021 15:04

@NearlyBoosted @2022HereWeCome
Don't listen!
I've stopped listening to updates or watching the news.
It is a dreadful, catastrophic way to be addressing the nation. The nhs certainly isn't speaking to its staff like that and catastrophising about the situation the whole time. My family member says they've been asked once to consider postponing work nights out until the new year. No -one is spreading panic amongst them
Because they are a highly vaccinated workforce and they have confidence in the vaccines doing their job.
As the rest of us should too.

I've had my booster so I'm carrying on as normal, there's nothing else I can do. I don't go to nightclubs or crowded venues anyway.

Seriously, stop listening to the politicians spreading mass panic.

That's interesting about NHS staff @ecceromani. I have heard from clinical colleagues and acquaintances that the double vaccinated vulnerable have excellent protection against severe disease, and triple vaccinated would presumably have even better protection. They aren't seeing anything like the level of deaths now as a year ago, and there really isn't a massive amount of worry about COVID per se anymore (not compared to previous waves). Indeed the main worry is the same one we all have - people having to isolate for 10 days if you test positive!

Justmuddlingalong · 17/12/2021 15:21

Passed by the chemist shop earlier, overheard 2 fellas, that the are now to be known as 'persons with problematic substance use' discussing how much they'll get for the 3 boxes of lateral flow tests they'd just picked up. WTF?

NearlyBoosted · 17/12/2021 15:34

Ecceromani that's very sensible.
Whatever happened to keeping a sensible tone in dealing with the public? It used to be a priority.
I actually think Chris Whitty does a decent job of that.

NearlyBoosted · 17/12/2021 15:35

Justmuddling: in another life they might be entrepreneurs.Shock

@2022HereWeCome

Raging because the FM is using emotive language again - 'tsunami of cases starting to hit'.

I am beginning to get seriously annoyed again. Why is it acceptable for me to stand in line with complete strangers for hours for a booster yet I should not be queuing for Edinburgh's big wheel and staying the fuck at home.

During the whole pandemic the most unsafe I felt was queuing for a mobile PCR test for 2 hours. And I had booked an appointment slot - they just ended up running 1.5 hours late! Hence my reluctance to queue for a booster

I managed to get mine as an appointment. Couldn't you do that so that you don't need to queue?

He has a very soothing manner but he's been pretty clear that we should all be worried and that the NHS can very easily be overwhelmed.
NearlyBoosted · 17/12/2021 15:40

Offs.

NearlyBoosted · 17/12/2021 15:41

Yes I think we have grasped that.

ecceromani · 17/12/2021 15:43

discussing how much they'll get for the 3 boxes of lateral flow tests they'd just picked up

Err. Nothing Grin
They obviously think they got done kind of freebie the rest of us pay for Hmm

alicesfavouritepen · 17/12/2021 15:44

@NearlyBoosted

Yes I think we have grasped that.
I was just a bit confused that it's okay when Whitty says it but not anyone else. No need to get so snarky Hmm
OnceUponAWhine · 17/12/2021 15:48

Lovely lunch out today, busy restaurant. They half heartedly asked us to T&T, so I was all set to use my fantasy life name (it’s not a glamorous one) and wrong number, but they didn’t ask again or check. Really felt they asked because they have to be seen to ask. Not their fault, just bonkers and nonsense system.

Justmuddlingalong · 17/12/2021 15:49

I know they're free, they know they're free but there seems to be a shortage, so I wouldn't be surprised if desperate folk did buy them.

Haudyourwheesht · 17/12/2021 16:49

In terms of being prepared for online learning, we've been reminded every six weeks or so since august to be prepared for online learning. I've been reassuring the kids this week that even if we have to go online it'll all be fine, but I've heard absolutely nothing to suggest we will be (online).

NearlyBoosted · 17/12/2021 17:16

It's tone, attitude and the effects.
It's counter productive to public health whip people into an anxious state.

NearlyBoosted · 17/12/2021 17:16

To whip.

NearlyBoosted · 17/12/2021 17:17

Plus I'm here to rail not to be talked to ad of I were at the back of the class.😉

Haudyourwheesht · 17/12/2021 17:31

Don't turn on each other folks. That's what they want. Wink

NearlyBoosted · 17/12/2021 17:48

Well of course.Wink
Deflects from any other issues you may be spotting.

NearlyBoosted · 17/12/2021 17:50

Anyways I'm tuning out from the Sturgeon.
Bye for now. Have a good Christmas with those you love.💝

WouldBeGood · 17/12/2021 21:46

@NearlyBoosted all railing welcome

I cannot abide Whitty. Doom mongering weirdo

I like him. Poor bugger, what a job he has. Does anyone else notice the more of a shitshow boris is in, the messier his hair gets? Almost like he's hoping his hair's enough of a disaster to take our minds off the real disaster he's making of our country.

WouldBeGood · 17/12/2021 22:52

I think that’s true of Boris’ hair @ssd

ElephantOfRisk · 17/12/2021 22:52

I used to think Whitty was ok. Then he and his chum at the time can't remember who it was) deliberately used old forecasts which should a much higher predication rather than the reassessed ones which he had available. Basically to frighten folk into compliance. Another one gaslighting the population so I'm done with him too.
