I think she had gone quiet so we all ‘forget’ and let the awful restrictions become the norm. Since she isn’t in our faces permanently.

Never thought I’d say this but I think I preferred the daily crap to the silence. At least there might have been some hope of a journalist asking important questions eventually

tiredoftiers · 23/10/2021 21:56

I agree, when will she let the kids return to normal in school? At the moment our school is no to any remotely fun/ normal. Continuing staggered start and finish which is directly harming the time our children have in school. Parents are rightly scunnered as the earlier start and finishers never see the other half of the parents or even get a glimpse of the class teachers.

@runningpink I’ve ditched the mask, and it’s been liberating and so nice. Loads more people have spoken to me when out, even if they’re masked. Shops and a cafe in Glasgow today and even when police in cafe it was fine. Out at comedy tonight, loads of people no masks in my small and law abiding town.

I was in Glasgow last night and noticed less people in masks. I can cope for about an hour then need to come up for air.

I really think they'll slowly slip away and then be impossible to being back.

WouldBeGood · 24/10/2021 01:04

Hope so @Lockdownbear. Dd was at barrowlands tonight and she said very few people wearing masks.

But I’d like to add that I’m not saying this to be a wanker: each to their own. Just to reassure those who struggle that I’ve not been lifted yet.

Though undoubtedly I’m going to die horribly of Covid, and I’ve accepted that as my punishment

I get it @WouldBeGood. A bit of me wants to "do the right thing" but at the same time I can only tolerate masks so long.
Then throw into the mix I had my boys with me too young to be vaccinated and I'm thinking they could pick anything up.

WouldBeGood · 24/10/2021 11:14

Oh dear. Allegations of information sharing with private companies via the Scottish Government vaccine passport. If this is true it’s pretty scary

And people wonder why I don't trust ScotGov.

WouldBeGood · 24/10/2021 12:07

My thoughts too @Lockdownbear. Glad I haven’t got it

If only we would do the same for low income families.

#FuelChair ⛽️ | Faced with rising fuel prices, an indemnity of € 100 will be paid to 38 million French people who earn less than € 2000 net per month, irrespective of motorists and users of another means of transportation.

That’s shocking @WouldBeGood

@Justmuddlingalong try this FB group for help on travel.

Justmuddlingalong · 24/10/2021 12:11

Thanks @Coquohvan. I'll have a look.

Good news! Being reported today in the English papers that Covid cases “set to slump” over the winter without any further restrictions.

OP posts:
mibbelucieachwell · 25/10/2021 09:36

The rate of reinfection with covid is thought to be very low.
The booster vax is thought to give more protection from symptomatic (and serious illness from) covid than two vaccinations.
Huge numbers of school, age children are now vaccinated.
It's estimated that almost half the population have now had covid so will have natural immunity.
The modellers I follow on Twitter think that English cases are close to peaking now.

WouldBeGood · 25/10/2021 09:42

I hope so, @mibbelucieachwell and I hope that the same happens here

Scottishskifun · 25/10/2021 11:19

I know a handful who got reinfected but it was before vaccination and a different type - they had the original variant and then delta and 2 of those have immune conditions.

The protection level if having vaccination after covid seems to be extremely high as well (95% if Pfizer some studies are reporting this is from catching it at all). My friend got covid her husband who had it separately caught whilst away with work hasn't had it at all despite sharing a bed and a small flat.

ResilienceWanker · 25/10/2021 12:03

Yes, known reinfection is still pretty low, despite everyone on MN knowing dozens of people who have now had it 3 times, each time worse than the last Hmm... Obviously, it's likely anyone who thinks they had it in early 2020 wouldn't actually have been tested (so it may have been covid, or may have been something else) which may underestimate things, but still, it doesn't seem there's heaps of reinfection waiting to come out of the woodwork at the moment, at least.

In England, the "possible reinfections" are running at less than 1% of all infections, with probable and confirmed reinfections a small percentage of that. Of course, it may be the more vulnerable people who are more liable to get reinfected, so boosters are probably still a good idea for them, but overall, the level of ongoing immunity well over a year since routine testing has been in place is still promising!

Scottishskifun · 25/10/2021 12:20

Oh definitely I think it's a reasonable level 65% protection without vaccination from zoe app bit higher in other studies. With vaccination it seems to go a lot higher.

Yes many people thought they had it but didn't, in the few cases I know they were confirmed cases originally but I still think it's unusual and the studies are showing if you had alpha originally then it's much less and delta is even lower.

The data on boosters so far is really good so hopefully it will continue. I still need to have that discussion with my Dr to if they will let me get on the list as with my age I wouldn't!

runningpink · 25/10/2021 12:28

Why are we just getting silence now. I want answers to why we are still stuck with harsher rules than England. And at what point do we get set free. Seeing as she keeps changing the goal posts.

@WouldBeGood only a few posts left so we will be needing Thread 14 pretty soon! 😮

Scottishskifun · 25/10/2021 12:32

@runningpink no idea I think personally it's to avoid criticism from both sides...... Those who want tougher levels introduced and asking why they abandoned their stance and those who are questioning why restrictions don't have a end date....

Having seen NS when she faces critism from media she appears to get short and quickly and it does not come across well so I think she's avoiding the risk of it by keeping silent.

Who’d have thought it?

@runningpink, yes, it’s time for answers.
