Thought a wee separate thread would be handy to keep us all going and for the kick up the bums we need, tips and motivation

OP posts:
shouldistop · 03/10/2021 07:34

I'm so hungry this morning Sad I think because we had a low calorie dinner. Anyway we're all off to the gym this morning, DH and I will tag team with the baby while big ds is in his activities so we can both get some exercise in. I usually have breakfast at 9.30 but will be down there so maybe I'll just take an apple to keep me going til lunch.

traintraveller · 03/10/2021 09:44

I had a late dinner last night that was very carb heavy so feel really bloated and yucky this morning. Hoping a dog walk and long run will sort me out.

shouldistop · 03/10/2021 09:49

@traintraveller I'm sure you'll feel better after that.

I'm going to fast til lunch time today. So far I've only been eating between 9.30&5.30 but having 3 smallish meals in that time. I'm thinking of only eating between 11.30&5.30 maybe half the week to try and boost the weight loss a bit more. I'll need to keep an eye on any signs of milk supply dipping too much though as I'd like to continue to feed baby ds throughout the winter while he settles into nursery and to help with the inevitable bugs.

shouldistop · 03/10/2021 09:51

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo 25k is amazing. My ankles knackered from an injury so I can't run at all Sad I can jog on a treadmill a bit but that's it.

WouldBeGood · 03/10/2021 10:04

Rest day here too but I’m already feeling a bit antsy and like I should do something!

@shouldistop I’m in awe of your discipline with food. Really need to take a leaf out of your book.

I’m sure you’ll feel good after that @traintraveller.

Maybe I should do a wee C25K to practise for running with dd.. I’ve been off the hook while she was rough.

shouldistop · 03/10/2021 10:08

@WouldBeGood I genuinely didn't used to be like this. I think I've had a mindset change, I've accepted the fact that I'm going to be hungry a lot of the time. I think before I was almost scared of being hungry or something but I've realised it's not going to hurt me and just to get on with it.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 03/10/2021 11:06

Oh couch you 5K @shouldistop, not 25K - i definitely couldn't run that far. If I get to 5K I will be happy!

I'm also impressed by your food discipline. I'm working on not snacking during the week - even if MFP tells me I've got the calories spare. I'm terrible for a biscuit or a packet of crisps. I'm hoping the less I snack, the less I'll want to snack!

We're not too bad on the healthy meals front - we use the pinch of non books a lot for recipes.

shouldistop · 03/10/2021 13:09

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo ah C25k - I get it now Blush
That does actually work with snacking I find. I'm an all or nothing person I think.
I did 10 mins on the bike, 10 mins jogging on treadmill and 5 mins on rowing machine, then 30 mins relaxing in the spa Grin
Just had toast & 2 boiled eggs for lunch, going to have an apple in a minute.
Dinner is lean pork sausages, mash, carrots & sweetcorn. Going to try and keep my portion size down.

shouldistop · 04/10/2021 07:23

So of the 2lbs I put back on, I lost 1 so am now 11st6lbs and have stuck at this weight since Friday.
Hopefully get some downward movement tomorrow.

WouldBeGood · 04/10/2021 07:36

@shouldistop what’s your target weight?

Would you not be better just to weigh once a week? Because of natural fluctuations and stuff

shouldistop · 04/10/2021 07:51

9st would be amazing Grin but realistically I'd settle for 10st.
I'd defo be better weighing once a week but have no will power 🤣

WouldBeGood · 04/10/2021 08:39

I’m not one to advise really @shouldistop, I’m far too scared to weigh myself at all lest I then have to shoot myself 🤣

traintraveller · 04/10/2021 09:12

I never weigh myself, I don't even own scales. It's such a sensitive measurement that I don't think means anything, I don't find it motivating and can't be doing with the angst! I find taking measurements and trying on clothes that don't fit / are too tight one a week much more motivating.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 04/10/2021 09:39

That's a good approach @traintraveller though I'm a bit like @shouldistop and weigh myself far too often. I was half a pound heavier this morning than Friday which given fluctuations felt like a good result.

Does anyone have exercise plans today?

shouldistop · 04/10/2021 09:40

@traintraveller clothes are very motivating. I think I've lost about half a size as I can wear some jeans that were too tight before but wouldn't get into the smaller size.

Dh has made a big pot of sweet potato & butternut squash soup so that's lunch sorted Smile

shouldistop · 04/10/2021 09:41

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo I've got ashtanga yoga today, I love it, works up a real sweat.
What are your plans?

shouldistop · 04/10/2021 09:43

Proving weight fluctuations don't mean much. I fed baby ds and weighed afterwards, down to 11st5lbs Grin he drinks a lot of milk clearly.

WouldBeGood · 04/10/2021 10:06

Been to vigorous class. Half an hour of hell 🤣

Christ, I should be thin.

In bad news, I accidentally went dressed as Rambo.

shouldistop · 04/10/2021 10:32

I hope you weren't topless @WouldBeGood

Scotsnet healthy eating and exercise motivation
WouldBeGood · 04/10/2021 10:56

🤣🤣🤣that would be startling @shouldistop

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 04/10/2021 12:23

I'd give myself a black eye if I did a class topless 😂

Today I have plans for C25K and a bodypump class. But I should have done the run before work so it's not going well so far...

shouldistop · 04/10/2021 13:30

Oh that soup was lovely. Now I'm not eating tonnes of chocolate and cakes etc I can actually taste the sweetness in certain vegetables and feel more satisfied from healthier food.

Yoga was great, I can do postures I didn't have a hope of a month ago so I'm feeling good. I'm so glad dh is wfh and happy to give up a few of his lunch hours so I can exercise or I just don't know how I'd fit it in.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 04/10/2021 13:50

WFH makes exercise so much easier. I don't know what I'll do when I get sent back to my office! Thankfully secondary age DC so that also make it easier.

Well done on the yoga!

WouldBeGood · 04/10/2021 15:09

Scotland would be blacked out if I did it topless!

Well done, @shouldistop that all sounds very satisfying.

Go for it @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 04/10/2021 16:20

Managed to get out for run in brief respite from the rain. So glad I did it. Been very good so far on the eating front today too. Boiled egg with once slice of toast for breakfast, home made soup for lunch. Lots of water drunk. Healthy dinner planned for later. Just need to make sure I do bodypump too!
