Thought a wee separate thread would be handy to keep us all going and for the kick up the bums we need, tips and motivation

I just spend most of the time hungry Sad I'm learning to accept it I suppose. I think if I want to lose weight then I'm going to feel hungry a lot of the time.
No treats so far so I'm doing well. Dh had a Chinese last night, I made myself some pasta. Could have cried watching him tuck in. He's been really good at not bringing any chocolate or cakes into the house though so he'll probably end up losing a bit of weight too.

shouldistop · 26/09/2021 15:46

@WouldBeGood well done for combat on a Saturday. I never do real exercise at the weekend, only walks with the kids.
@runningpink Smile come on over. I think I'm finding it easier being on mat leave, probably be harder when I'm back at work.

shouldistop · 27/09/2021 19:11

God I think I need to have a much smaller dinner. Dh does dinner and I've continued eating the same portion size as before but I think my stomach must have shrunk because a few times now I've had terrible indigestion/ upset stomach after eating.
I think I'm going to ask him to put a half portion on my plate and if I'm genuinely still hungry then I'll get more.
Was brought up to 'clear my plate' and it's a difficult mindset to get out of.

mapleleavesreturn · 27/09/2021 21:30

The last time I managed to lose weight really cutting back on dinner helped massively. Been too busy here running, lots of sitting in a chair, doing overtime and snacking.

traintraveller · 28/09/2021 07:17

shouldistop I use a side plate rather than a dinner plate. It helps a lot as the plate looks full but obviously it's a much smaller portion.

shouldistop · 28/09/2021 07:44

Good idea @traintraveller

I've lost another 2lbs! Started off at 12st4lbs am now 11st5lbs.
Baby ds has a cold and has been feeding a lot so it's probably dehydration.

shouldistop · 28/09/2021 07:46

I am getting wrinkly skin on my stomach from the weight loss (and 2 pregnancies I suppose) Sad But never mind, I think my bikini days are over anyway.

WouldBeGood · 28/09/2021 08:38

Never too old for a bikini @shouldistop! I’m old and fat and would still wear one on holiday.

I do agree about the clearing the plate mentality. I made a conscious decision not to follow that path with the dcs. It’s a really hard mindset to get out of.
Did mental class yesterday and got yoga today. Trying to do a decentish dog walk each day. Won’t use up many calories but stops me scoffing.

mapleleavesreturn · 28/09/2021 09:01

Determined to have a good day - first day of winter tights back on today and the waist band is very uncomfortable.

I found the tummy wrinkles looked a bit better after a while should, they look worse when you're transitioning down and then adjust.

shouldistop · 28/09/2021 20:25

@WouldBeGood yeah, being out and about takes away the urge to snack doesn't it.

@mapleleavesreturn that's good to hear, maybe they'll look better eventually then.

I had a much smaller portion of dinner, didn't get a stomach ache which is good but I am hungry now Sad Going to have a glass of water and go to bed.

traintraveller · 29/09/2021 16:52

Had my dress fitting today. Panic over, it needs taking in. I'm so having wine and crisps tonight Grin

shouldistop · 29/09/2021 17:23

@traintraveller well done!

WouldBeGood · 29/09/2021 17:57

Well done @traintraveller! Enjoy the wine and crisps 😃

shouldistop · 29/09/2021 21:39

I was planning to have a swim today but all I did was hold poorly baby ds all day Sad Was looking forward to it as well. Won't get another chance for exercise until Friday now.

runningpink · 30/09/2021 07:44

I have been a complete disaster zone. House renovations mean I have stuff everywhere and no access to the cooker for the next few days.

Also juggling work and volunteering stuff.

I have done my classes this week but haven’t ran or cycled.
Thinking tomorrow being the 1st if the month that I’m going to make a plan to get me running more on October

Well done for those of you managing to lose weight.

shouldistop · 30/09/2021 09:15

@runningpink what are you getting done to your house?

How have I managed to gain 2lbs overnight??!!Sad

runningpink · 30/09/2021 18:46

A new kitchen @shouldistop

Don’t be disheartened. Your weight continually changes, could be extra water, time of month etc

You have done amazing so keep going

@runningpink ooh lovely, it will be worth it when it's finished Smile

So annoying, I wish I had the will power to stick to only weighing once a week.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 01/10/2021 07:35

Could I join you all? I've been reading along these last few weeks but haven't posted yet. I'm currently about 11 stone 7. I's lost 2.5 stone-ish before lockdown and had got to around 11 stone 2, but my weight has creeped up a little.

I'm trying basically to eat less and move more but my weight has plateaued really, so it's a bit of a struggle. I'm using my fitness pal to track but essentially keep sabotaging my efforts at the weekend I think. My goal had been 10 1/2 stone, but right now if I could get down to 11 I would be delighted!

On the exercise front I'm doing Les mills classes at home and have taken up couch to 5K. Just started on the 4th week.

traintraveller · 01/10/2021 08:38

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo welcome. How are you finding the les mills workouts? I've been thinking about signing up.
This weather is rubbish for motivation, eating salads and running outside are no fun when it's pishing with rain.

WouldBeGood · 01/10/2021 09:02

Ooh, nice @runningpink it has been all go for you!

Hello @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo!

This week I’ve done mental class, weight training session and two yoga classes and I have PT today. Might do combat again tomorrow too. At least I’ll be fit if still fat!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 01/10/2021 09:18

Thanks @WouldBeGood! I do keep trying to tell myself that being fit is the most important thing.

I'm planning to do bodycombat after work today. I re-started 30 days with Adrienne yoga yesterday (had tried earlier in the year but got out of the habit after about 10 days) and found it really uncomfortable to sit cross-legged. I'm not a fan of yoga, but whenever I try it, it reminds me that I could benefit from working on my flexibility...

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 01/10/2021 09:22

Sorry @traintraveller didn't mean to ignore your post there! I enjoy having Les mills at home. I always found fitting in a class tricky pre-covid. But I am mostly working at home for now so it's much easier to fit in a class more regularly. I mostly stick to bodycombat and bodypump, but sometimes do body balance, stretch, and tone. Compared to what I was spending on a gym membership i didn't use enough it's pretty good value for money. Though I appreciate going to an in person class suits some people better.

WouldBeGood · 01/10/2021 09:27

I’m lazy so need in person classes to keep me at it! I do find yoga better in person and the teacher is really good: you feel you’ve really worked! Have you tried sitting with a block or rolled up towel under your butt? It can help.

I had to join the gym I’m in as DS claimed he wanted to go and it was the only one he could go to at twelve. Needless to say, he doesn’t go, but I’m determined to make the most of my membership!

traintraveller · 01/10/2021 09:32

I'm not a fan of gym classes, my exercise consists of 2 dog walks a day (min 10k steps) 4 runs a week and 20-30 minutes of youtube workouts a day - currently emi wong ab challenge.
