@WouldBeGood

Thanks to the power of Scotsnet I have had a very relaxing, and good, haircut and colour 😊
Good stuff, always good to have a new hairdo!

@Groovee

Was there an update today?
Nope there was parliament debate about vaccine passports though
BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 08/09/2021 18:14

There was a bit of an update before that though. Apparently the growth rate is slowing so peak looks to have passed.

WouldBeGood · 08/09/2021 18:21

That’s good news

What was the vaccine passport debate like? Does anyone know?

KingsleyShacklebolt · 08/09/2021 19:06

My concern about the vaccine passports is as follows.

We are a family of 5. Adults are vaxxed. Oldest son starting Uni next week is also double vaxxed. 16 year old DD in S5 has appointment for Monday.

13 year old DS - well the evidence from the medical people is that the very tiny risks of the vaccine outweigh the very teeny tiny risk of Covid for the 12-15 age group. So I am leaning towards not letting him have the vaccine.

BUT, we've booked to go overseas next summer. Would he be allowed to travel? Who knows.

Scottishskifun · 08/09/2021 19:09

Under 18s are still allowed to travel but at the moment need a negative pcr test before you fly same would go for your 16 year old as currently only one jab is given.

mapleleavesreturn · 08/09/2021 19:14

I reckon there's plenty of time to make decisions about vaccines for 12-15 in the spring before a summer holiday based on the facts around then.

Covid vaccine strategies could be different by spring.

WouldBeGood · 08/09/2021 19:15

I’m kind of hoping this pish might have stopped by next summer

KingsleyShacklebolt · 08/09/2021 19:26

I am a strong advocate of vaccines and I think all over 16s should get them. Have changed names but have been on Scotsnet right through the pandemic and i'm definitely not an anti-vaxxer.

The "vaccinate 12-15" policy through is a political decision not one based on medical evidence.

Pretty sure it's tomorrow
Scottishskifun · 08/09/2021 19:49

Ah sorry had seen the update reports about vaccine passports and discussions around them, yes vote is tomorrow. Maybe they will debate it more..... The greens will be forced to vote in favour though so it will go through regardless.

WouldBeGood · 08/09/2021 20:30

On things to watch, I’m also enjoying Annika. Transposed to Glasgow so I like the setting

Amen to this
mapleleavesreturn · 08/09/2021 21:04

Same kingsley, I'd even think that 12-15 that want them should have access but I can't see that it's clear it's the right strategy over boosters for people who are at risk at this stage.

I can't dare to hope it's actually normal and not new normal by next summer.

Lockdownbear · 08/09/2021 21:11

At one point I was in favour of vaccines for secondary school kids but now I'm really not sure, the risk of the vaccine for 6mths or so protection really doesn't seem worth it.

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 08/09/2021 21:14

I honestly don't have any hope of this any more.
ssd · 08/09/2021 21:17

Dh was just telling me apparently prince charles was in Govan today and someone in the crowd shouted out to him 'prince Charles, your brothers a peodo'

Good old Glasgow

ssd · 08/09/2021 21:18

Bet they dont show that on the telly

Lockdownbear · 08/09/2021 22:02

@ssd GrinGrin that's actually really funny. But at the same time I feel sorry for PC having a brother like that and the whole country knowing. And nowhere to hide.

You know like normal people would be able move away or work in a city where your are anonymous anyway and nobody would know about your brothers seedy business.

runningpink · 08/09/2021 22:06

Does anyone know anything about the flu vaccine this year?

A friend took their 2 year old today and was told this was just the first lot, they would need to come back in a month for the second ones.

As far as I can remember it’s always been one vaccine.

ssd · 08/09/2021 22:06

Thats true

PurpleFrog · 08/09/2021 22:12

I thought kids got a nasal spray for flu vaccine not an injection?

WouldBeGood · 08/09/2021 22:14

I don’t feel sorry for any of the Royal
Family
