That's still above average for a woman though isn't it? Is that not about 5'4?

Mine were potentially going to be over 6'4 and up to 6'7! I'm happy they didn't get any taller tbh, it's already a nightmare going for dinner as DS1 has very long limbs and often can't get his legs under the table. DH and DS2 manage fine, it's just a different distribution of height

WouldBeGood · 29/07/2021 19:42

Yes! I say I’m tall!

How tall were yours at thirteen? Mine is 6’2 so I worry he will be a giant

Boys are funny, puberty hits at such a wide gap. The rule tends to be that the later it hits the taller they will be so you may find that's about it - or maybe not Grin

I've recorded it all in the red books (yes, i am that person!)

DS1 was 167.5 cms (about 5'6)and DS2 was 174.5cms (5'8.5) - both measured on their birthday. DS1 was taller than DS2 up until early teens (Ds2 hit puberty at a younger age) DS1 is the tallest.

WouldBeGood · 29/07/2021 19:53

😂 oh my god!!

DS has been off the scale since he was born, mind you

OP posts:
ElephantOfRisk · 29/07/2021 19:56

Mine have always tracked more or less, just below the 99th percentile. DS1 was 9lb 13 when he was born, DS2 just an itty bitty 8lb 3 Grin We did have to chop the feet off DS1s babygros in hospital because of his great long gangly legs!

WouldBeGood · 29/07/2021 20:00

Mine was 11lbs 4 😱

OP posts:
IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 29/07/2021 20:03

11 4 😱 dear Jesus!

ElephantOfRisk · 29/07/2021 20:04

Looks like DS1 was 5'9.5 @ 14 and just a fraction over 6 foot at 15 and then 6'2 at 16 and finished up at 6'3

DS2 was 5'10.5 at 14 - for some reason 15 is missing and then he was 6'1 at 16 and finished at 6'2.

You could be in for a few more inches yet, theoretically they can grow until age 21 but in practice both mine hit adult height by 17. DS2 isn't 20 yet but he hasn't grown for 2 years anyway so i'd guess he's done.

WouldBeGood · 29/07/2021 20:05

Close to my words.

I was able to go “I told you he was big!!!”

ElephantOfRisk · 29/07/2021 20:05

11 4?! Jesus wept. I hope to christ he was a section?

WouldBeGood · 29/07/2021 20:07

Don’t ask. He was also back to back.

I was very grateful that I’d done a lot of Pilates. 😂

OP posts:
ElephantOfRisk · 29/07/2021 20:12

DS1 was back to back and got stuck for 36 hours and then a I had section. I had sacroiliac hip dysfunction so couldn't get into many positions. DS2 was also back to back so he was elective (also 13 months after previous section).

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 29/07/2021 20:13

Absolute machine @WouldBeGood I thought I was a champ with my 7lb 14 back to back with a spinal 😂

WouldBeGood · 29/07/2021 20:13

Bloody nightmare @ElephantOfRisk!

Doctors were popping in to see ds as a curiosity 😂

OP posts:
shouldistop · 29/07/2021 20:16

Omg @WouldBeGood Shock

Both of mine were back to back, overdue and 8,12 & 8,8 - I thought that was big!

I might have cried a little at some of the reminiscing about baby days you guys were doing earlier. Ds1 last day at nursery tomorrow and I'm feeling so emotional about it. Only have 5 more months at home with baby ds, feel like I've hardly had a chance to stop and get to know him. I'm so busy all the time! We still haven't been to a baby group.

ElephantOfRisk · 29/07/2021 20:18

I bet they were @WouldBeGood! I got the spinal at 30 hours but kept getting bumped for surgery due to energencies. With DS2 they wanted to just wait and see what happened but I was panicking so my midwife booked me in a week early. Then the surgeon who wanted me to just wait, told me the scar would never have held through a labour. I kept telling them there was pain in the scra but what did I know? Hmm

My DM was just proud that he had proper legs for a new born and looked great in shorts...Grin

titsintiers · 29/07/2021 20:21

@WouldBeGood

Mine was 11lbs 4 😱

ElephantOfRisk · 29/07/2021 20:22

Maternity pay was shite when mine were born @shouldistop. I went back when DS1 was 4.5 months and when DS2 was 5.5 months (had to delay it as he wouldn't take a bottle!) I really wish I'd been able to spend more time with them. DH left work and got a part time job just before DS2 was born and stayed at home more or less until they went to school (but working more hours by then). It was nice that we were all off together for a while when DS2 was born.

WouldBeGood · 29/07/2021 20:24

@shouldistop I really feel so sorry for you. This must have been such a horrible time to have a baby. Well, apart from the lovely baby-ness of them 😊

Dd was 5.4 and Ds was 6.10 neither reached a due date.

My nephew was 11.4 he was the size of dd at 3 months old.

I had 14 weeks Mat leave with Dd. If she had been late, I'd have been returning when she was 8 weeks old 😭. I had 5 years off.

WouldBeGood · 29/07/2021 20:35

Aww, little baby Groovees! 💕

DS was two weeks late, to be fair

Ouch!!!
Scottishskifun · 29/07/2021 22:45

Crikey and I thought DS was bad at 9.1lbs!

I do feel that babies and pre schoolers it was largely thought they would be fine and no effect as they won't remember type thing. Whereas now they are finding the opposite with development etc.

riverrunning · 30/07/2021 07:57

The children, even the little ones, benefit developmentally from a social life and normal places to go, it encourages them to talk and develop concepts, not surprising referrals are through the roof.
