place marking

Lockdownbear · 11/07/2021 09:17

Wow that's good news if it works for Long Covid. Fingers crossed on that one.

I had my second jag last night, the centre was absolutely empty. DH went in first, he got back to the car before I went in. I was back in the car and he still had 5 mins of his 15 to wait before driving.

riverrunning · 11/07/2021 17:58

We've both been second jabbed this weekend in two different empty vaccine centres - so depressing the wastage.

WouldBeGood · 11/07/2021 18:18

That’s so frustrating @riverrunning.

I’m also railing against my Covid fanatic acquaintances who didn’t go for their second jabs and are going two weeks later after their holidays

I had my second last week and it was the same, really quiet. Nurse said lots of no shows with young people not keen. Makes me wonder if we'll max out at say 90% adults, and never reach the 'all adults vaccinated' goal (and if so, one of the major arguments for waiting to lift restrictions becomes a bit moot).
riverrunning · 11/07/2021 18:35

It's a tough sell to convince the under 50s because they're mostly doing it for society (which should be enough, you'd hope, but...) - they should be running drop ins concurrently, such a waste of resources.

Both vaccine centres we had were hard to get to by public transport.

Lockdownbear · 11/07/2021 19:55

I'm quite sure if Scot Gov committed to vaccine certificates they'd up the uptake, ie if you can prove your double vaccinated you can go clubbing, no long need to self isolate if only a contact and travel.

But they drag their heels. Why aren't they pushing vaccines for younger teens stop covid going round the secondary schools?

Which in turn helps to protect the primaries and nurseries. The wee people who can't be vaccinated.

WouldBeGood · 11/07/2021 19:56

No need to vaccinate teens in school.

OP posts:
Lockdownbear · 11/07/2021 20:57

Teens are still at risk of long covid not to mention the bubbles, self isolation and face masks.

Vaccine would get them back to normality too.

Scottishskifun · 11/07/2021 21:43

I think many under 40s just don't think that it will effect them so many people just say they will be asystomatic or on paper a really mild case. On paper I was exactly the same!

I am a bit of a vaccine advert though had several friends actually go get there's after speaking with me or seeing me struggle. Which can only be a good thing in the grand scheme of things!

StarryEyeSurprise · 11/07/2021 21:51

I've had colleagues suffer after effects too - one, a mini stroke and another has had to be blue lighted to hospital a couple of times. They were ill but not as ill as the other one who had it more severely more recently.

Changing the subject but has anyone seen the videos of the thugs battering people at Wembley? In one, an older man punched a child in the melee. Disgusting behaviour, absolute scum.

titsintiers · 11/07/2021 21:54

Vaccine passports will surely resolve any low take up?

Lockdownbear · 11/07/2021 22:03

I'd think vaccine passports would increase uptake.

Not seen the thugs, were they English or Italian? Not that it really matters.

StarryEyeSurprise · 11/07/2021 22:14

They were English fans. Knuckle daggers - I hope they're jailed. So sad, the majority are just out to have a great night at the football and absolute savages spoil it with violence .

WouldBeGood · 11/07/2021 22:17

I totally disagree with vaccine passports. It’s a slippery slope to a two tier society and government control of our bodies.

There is no need. The vulnerable are now vaccinated.

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 11/07/2021 22:18

And the media always seems to hone in on football fans behaving badly. It was Scottish fans a couple of weeks ago. Boring

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 11/07/2021 22:19

The risk of vaccines to teens is greater than the risk of Covid. This is lunacy

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 11/07/2021 22:20

This is so depressing

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 11/07/2021 22:20

I’m now railing against the railing thread

OP posts:
titsintiers · 11/07/2021 22:34

I don't think teens should be vaccinated.

Lidlfix · 11/07/2021 22:39

My teen would love to be vaccinated. Considering she can vote, marry, be a mother - her body and her choice.

WouldBeGood · 11/07/2021 22:41

My boy is 13 and no chance.

Why is it necessary?

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 11/07/2021 22:43

It’s just mental

OP posts:
ssd · 11/07/2021 22:44

Bloody hell, football fans fighting each other?!?...bit like the rangers fans in George Square not so long ago...55 arrests there, probably be as much down south....

Haudyourwheesht · 11/07/2021 22:50

I feel like my mother now, but I really don't see why people need violence to have fun. You wake up, your team has won the euros, but your knuckles are bruised and bleeding, the police may be looking at you on CCTV and there's a fair chance your victim (a fellow England fan) ended up in hospital and didn't even see the game. WTF is the point?
