No holiday planned but DS had three football matches this weekend, and football camp next week (yes, he's obsessed).

Bytheloch · 25/06/2021 11:22

Thank god we can be out of these restricted trace and protect bubbles over the summer. I’m cheering most about that today🙌🏻

It’s a real shame that your DC can’t continue with planned football if no symptoms Summer and no positive tests yourselves. These isolation ‘rules’ need to be sorted for the new term in August or we’ll never make progress.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 25/06/2021 11:33

Bummer, SoMuch Sad

SoMuchForSummerLove · 25/06/2021 11:35

I know, we've all tested negative today. And that's 30 8 year olds...

latissimusdorsi · 25/06/2021 11:58

Oh jeez @Bytheloch please not these awful isolation rules after the summer. It has to stop.
All adults will be fully vaccinated except maybe the very youngest waiting for 2nd dose. Kids aren't going to be vaccinated so if we can't get rid of it by then when can we🤷🏼‍♀️

WouldBeGood · 25/06/2021 12:04

Paediatricians and psychologists are calling for the isolations to stop.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 25/06/2021 12:04

The kid who tested positive lives with his grandparents who are both double vaccinated and have got it, and his mum has also got it (and sounds awful) but don't know if she is single or double jabbed.

So I think isolating is probably still right for now, but would like to see the back of it soon! I have a horrible feeling this week that this whole thing is lasting much longer than I ever guessed it would.

My friend died a year ago today too so it's just an all round shit day really.

WouldBeGood · 25/06/2021 12:06

There’s also some evidence that the risk of myocarditis from vaccinating kids, especially teenage boys, although tiny, is greater than the risk to them from Covid.

All tiny risks, but need to be considered.

Absolutely, I don’t think the majority of parents will comply come August, if these ridiculous rules around isolating anyway despite negative tests and grown ups are fully vaccinated. I don’t intend to abide by any T&P orders we might receive in the next week or so, it’s a legacy bubble now as far as I’m concerned, it shouldn’t impact the summer break.
mibbelucieachwell · 25/06/2021 12:29

Oh how crap for you all summer.

Sorry to be stating the obvious, but are you absolutely sure you were within 2 metres of your son's friend for more than 30 minutes?

SoMuchForSummerLove · 25/06/2021 12:34

No, I definitely wasn't, probably about 15 minutes max across two car journeys then a few minutes in my kitchen. I think I'll just isolate for a few days anyway to keep DS company, and see if I hear from T&T. I don't think I can go into my office anyway as someone in the household is isolating.

latissimusdorsi · 25/06/2021 12:53

Are the double vaccinated grandparents asymptomatic @SoMuchForSummerLove ?

Sorry for the loss of your friend Thanks

SoMuchForSummerLove · 25/06/2021 13:06

Grandad symptomatic apparently, not sure about Gran.

latissimusdorsi · 25/06/2021 13:22

Hope the grandparents stay well

depressing to hear of double vaccinated people still getting Covid. The very occasional case fine, but that's 2 in one household!
I'm no scientist but I think we need vaccinated people to block its path by not picking it up to reach herd immunity Hmm

rookiemere · 25/06/2021 13:59

My poor friend has just had to cancel their trip to London as their DD got notified through T&T an hour before they were due to go and her DH is a real stickler for the rules and doesn't really enjoy going away anyhow.
I feel so sorry for her - her last trip was cancelled due to another DC illness ( not covid).

Icannever · 25/06/2021 14:24

Well we’ve made it to the end of the school week without being asked to isolate now we’ve spent the day stuck in traffic jams from Penrith (where we stopped last night) to near Manchester so far. The roads are horrendous, barely moving most of the time, even queues to get into the services parking.

dancemom · 25/06/2021 15:45

Incredibly rubbish for your friend rookie

Travelling Tabby saying there's a reporting issue and the true number of cases today likely to be +800/1,000.

latissimusdorsi · 25/06/2021 16:11

Thanks @dancemom
Hope you're enjoying your day off Smile

ResilienceWanker · 25/06/2021 16:18

Oh no rookiemere - that's awful. So many people I've heard of having children pinged on the last day of term (like somuch Flowers) ... such bad timing. I did broach the subject of what we would do in that case with DH (travelling on Sunday) and whether we would go anyway and just keep an eye out for symptoms, and he gave me this face --> Hmm. So I'm guessing that's a no. It's odd, as he's always been much more lax than me with the rules, up until a month or so ago, and now we've basically changed positions!

Hope you get on the move again soon icannever! Must be us all escaping out of Scotland at the earliest opportunity Wink

ResilienceWanker · 25/06/2021 16:19

Oh, and yes - thanks dancemom!

rookiemere · 25/06/2021 16:27

Yes @ResilienceWanker in theory we said we'd still go but not sure in reality I'd be prepared to break the rules that much, arbitrary though they may be.

LizzieMacQueen · 25/06/2021 16:48

I read on BBC that it's the SG intention to vaccinate all over 16s by end of July - did that change from over 18?
