Interesting thread from Chris Musson on Twitter. He quotes NS as saying the reason Scotland has higher cases just now is because we were more restricted and thus have lower immunity (no shit, maybe she should read Scotsnet, she might learn a thing or two ). Pretty astonishing if she did as its basically an admission that our current issues are caused by her past decisions.

FFS Tui, just cancel my bloody holiday and put me out of my misery.

Our current issues with lower natural immunity, caused by the first minister's past decisions, probably saved a lot of lives. We didn't get bonkers infection rates of 1000+ per 100,000, when almost no one was vaccinated.

Our death rates were right up there in the tables.

Scottish death rate per 100,000 is on par with England though and in November were actually higher.

The life expectancy in Glasgow for instance is shocking because of health inequalities and poor diets.

I don't think either Scotland or England can shout about them having effective strategies but WM gets a bit of a upper hand due to the vaccination investment and speed of the dedicated sub department.
