Nightclubs? Not for DH and I but we might threaten the DDs with a Lidlfam club night . Grin

WouldBeGood · 26/07/2021 17:10

I’m planning to go to the Hip Replacement clubbing for oldsters night 🤣

hilbil21 · 26/07/2021 17:46

I live in a fairly small town and it's annoying when you can only sit with the people you're out with when in a pub. All I want is to be able to wander around and talk to whoever I want as nine times out of ten here you know half the pub lol.

See ya there
Cismyfatarse · 26/07/2021 19:14

I went to a party in England at the weekend. Partly outdoors, partly inside. No masks. Drinks either ordered at table or from the bar. Live band. Dancing. Loud shouting along to songs. Hugging.

It was AMAZING.

We also went to a couple of pubs yesterday. Also pretty normal,

The relief was incredible. If Scotland remains locked up as compared to England I am going to do all my weekends away down there.

WouldBeGood · 26/07/2021 19:34

Oh my god, @Cismyfatarse, I’m so jealous!

WouldBeGood · 26/07/2021 19:35

@titsintiers I’ll wear my Scotsnet t shirt

I wouldn't mind a nightclub as long as there's comfy chairs, its not loud and i can get a cup of tea Grin
ssd · 26/07/2021 19:51

Oh and it closes at 10pm, i like an early nightGrin

WouldBeGood · 26/07/2021 20:03

@ssd 🤣

titsintiers · 26/07/2021 20:38

There used to be a big bed in Archais @ssd, perhaps this could be arranged?

titsintiers · 26/07/2021 20:38

WouldBeGood · 26/07/2021 20:56

That’s a whole other sort of club 😂

rookiemere · 26/07/2021 20:58

I must admit I quite like the pubs and restaurants closing at 10 Blush. Did save too much hangover on Saturday as the gin bar was shut then.

titsintiers · 26/07/2021 21:09

@WouldBeGood

Oh I can't be arsed with any of that nonsense, just need a nana nap
WouldBeGood · 26/07/2021 21:30

🤣🤣

ssd · 26/07/2021 22:01

Or as we call the wee 20 minute nap around 4pm, a pensioners nap Grin

runningpink · 26/07/2021 22:05

Has she given any indication previously at what point we need to reach for her to remove masks?

That’s what’s stopping me living my life again the most abs also stopping me doing certain things at work

WouldBeGood · 26/07/2021 22:14

Me too, @runningpink. I’ve got a lanyard but imma bit scared of confrontation so I’m pretty restricted or super anxious.

runningpink · 26/07/2021 22:27

I think I will need to get one. I mostly get by, by avoiding going anywhere with a mask. Can cope with a quick in and out to the post office type thing if I can see no queue and have to do food shop once week.

If/when I secure a new job I will need to wear mask for prolonged times when doing certain activities with the kids which I know I won’t manage to do.

runningpink · 26/07/2021 22:28

Also agree about the confrontation and being singled out by wearing a lanyard. It really puts me off

ssd · 26/07/2021 22:42

It really makes me angry to hear of people with lanyards being given grief for not wearing a mask. That's so bad. I haven't seen this myself but have no doubt it happens. The general public can be such arseholes.

YeDancer · 27/07/2021 08:26

As a deaf person, I want face masks to go as I fear returning to work with everyone wearing them.
According to guidance, we can take them off when sitting, like I'm only deaf when people are sitting down eye roll
Standing back when people remove masks doesn't help as the further away you stand the harder it is to hear and clear face masks steam up so you still can't lip read.
I'm increasingly anxious about getting the 'come back to work' message as I don't know how I'll manage.
Its a university. I kind of like the whole 'be vaccinated to attend lectures' idea if it means no face masks.

Precipice · 27/07/2021 09:24

How would 2x vaccination to attend lectures work?

They're doing 8 week interval still and they're not vaccinating under 18s. Some students won't have been 18 long enough by the time they start university to be doubly vaccinated (+ couple weeks for protection to kick in). Same for some of those coming from abroad from countries whose vaccination programmes are less advanced. So what - face to face classes but also live streaming for those who can't yet attend? Okay if cumbersome for lectures, terrible for seminars and tutorials with interactions, impossible for anything with lab work/practicals. That's practically a whole semester gone by the time this previously unvaccinated new student gets doubly vaccinated.

IncludeWomenInThePrequel · 27/07/2021 09:29

@YeDancer you might be overestimating peoples' willingness to use masks properly.

I know in my office people walk in wearing their mask, come over to my desk, then stand 10cm away from me, remove their mask, and start talking.

Then they were all very surprised when a dozen of them caught Covid last month Confused
