I know nothing about the tests, but, my goodness, you've made me jealous at the idea of a Greek break!

I think the next announcement is tomorrow, but that will be whether we will all move to tier zero next week. Not sure if that will cover travel too. It really should, given that seems to be a key thing changing in the rest of the UK on the 19th - and surely people will just fly from Manchester or Gatwick or somewhere otherwise.

Something about removing the isolation requirements for contacts if double jagged would be welcome too... It's frustrating we could start the new school year with those still in place.

Bytheloch · 12/07/2021 16:49

Only here to say that sounds lush @YeDancer announcement tomorrow who cares anymore, tbh? but just go via Manc or elsewhere if you have to!

YeDancer · 12/07/2021 16:52

how do you even go about changing airports? We've booked from Glasgow

riverrunning · 12/07/2021 17:08

I'm booking tomorrow unless it's banned - on the tests, prices can rocket that much in a week so you'll probably save overall booking now @YeDancer fingers crossed!!

There's supposed to be a flurry of amazing weather from tomorrow to look forward to!

ElephantOfRisk · 12/07/2021 19:00

My DSs are 19 and 21, I left it to them to decide but I think their motivation was thinking that they'd never be able to get a holiday abroad without vaccination. Neither of them are in any kind of public facing roles. I don't think i'd push for a younger teen to be vaccinated though.

19 year old DS ended up at A&E last week after his jag as he had heart issues and a tight chest. he was fine but we can only assume it was from his jag. DS1 just had his first today.

I've just started to watch panorama @Scottishskifun why are we not doing more about this, I'm annoyed for you and others

Yeah she pretty much described every day for me especially the always waking up feeling hungover, temperatures and having to lie down after simple activities and I haven't had a drink in months!

SG stock response...... Doing research! 87,000 and counting in Scotland.
I'm glad they have done a documentary on it though as it means I can stop explaining how I feel all day every day to friends and colleagues. I'm very realistic that this is going to be a long road.

2nd jab tomorrow though and looking back I did get some symptom relief (well the daily fevers buggered off for 5 weeks anyway!) so fingers crossed tomorrow helps as well and it lasts a bit longer now I'm doing pacing.

It's easy to get depressed about it all especially when I think about my son who comments on me being tired, being in bed etc etc but I focus on what I can and thankfully the bowen therapy helps with the muscle pain for a few days.

Pootle40 · 12/07/2021 21:04

@YeDancer

We've booked a holiday in Greece, leaving in 2 weeks

Do we really need to use the SG approved tests? Can we not go with another company? Its working out £510 for a family of 3 for tests! Whereas TUI are advertising cheaper tests.

When does NS let us know if fully vaccinated and under 18s in Scotland can travel to Amber countries the same way the English can? When is her next announcement? Will she even let us go?

Unfortunately so. We are in Majorca right now and was complaining to DH earlier that English holidaymakers can get a £20 test via the airline/holiday company but we're forced to pay this shit. Still it was worth it to get away from the bloody UK.
Tomorrowisanewday · 12/07/2021 21:21

Scottishskifun - i listened to NS eulogising about the big risk of long covid last week and thought of you, and would have happily punched my screen for you

Ah yes she's great at using it for an excuse but then does pretty much nothing other than the "research" answer plus money for GPs..... Who aren't specialists, are already struggling with back log of all patients and have zero time to try and look into what may help suffers!

Honestly so sick of NS using long covid whilst continually refuses to help the tens of thousands of people like me with specialist clinics and services

riverrunning · 13/07/2021 08:16

The rhetoric always well ahead of any action on long covid, it's rotten.

Currently being treated to photos of friends in Malta - I don't understand why Scotland is especially being gouged for tests.

I'm currently looking at booking flights for holiday next easter. Think I'll focus on Manchester or Newcastle, and not Glasgow or Edinburgh!

I've booked the Greek islands for a week in august - so excited. Both double-jabbed...thank you vaccines.

Heavenly! I love the Greek islands. Well the ones I've been to. Absolute bliss.

Thanks @dancemom

riverrunning · 13/07/2021 16:45

Beyond excited about it. Although the kids refused to do the swimming lessons on holiday Smile can't blame them as much as they need to catch up!

YeDancer · 13/07/2021 20:04

Are you also going to a holiday village @riverrunning? We are going to the rhodes one.

Both double jagged but a bit confused as to what tests we need to get (if any if double jagged).

riverrunning · 13/07/2021 20:14

Corfu - hotel with everything and near beach so will be great.

I admit, I'm a bit confused about tests too, but I decided that it'll be clearer in an day or two and to book up and then research which tests to take!

I don't think we need a test until just before we travel back and on day 2 after return from what I've made out so far!

YeDancer · 14/07/2021 07:35

When does the "don't need to quarantine if double jagged" come into effect? I need to book the covid tests but the SG website isn't updated yet?

titsintiers · 14/07/2021 08:30

I've booked a week in the canaries in October. Anything could happen between now and then I suppose but bugger it.

riverrunning · 14/07/2021 09:00

No quarantine if testing on day 2 of arrival after Monday 19 July.

I've booked the pet sitter, got the vaccine letter and now need to get more wheelie suitcases. I was bizarrely optimistic about the Scottish summer so I've got plenty of suntan lotion and swimwear...

rookiemere · 14/07/2021 10:35

You're all braver than me. Pulled out of our Majorca August week as implications of a positive test abroad were just too high.

Do have a week booked in Tenerife in October though and feeling a bit more hopeful about that as issues like positive tests may be resolved by then, or it will have got worse and we'll just not go.

Glad to see an MSP (who is also a GP!) publicly calling NS out on her lies that GPs can refer long covid patients to services..... And states that there is no where to refer most long covid patients to in Scotland!

I don't care if he's a Tory he's right it's a scandal that the SNP are trying to sweep under the carpet!
There is over 13 months of data available from England on services, what treatments help many etc etc but do they ask or try to set up something here? Do they fuck as they would have to admit UK govt has been doing something right a lot longer than they have!

Sorry I'm a bit of a broken record on this but it pisses me off so much that people don't see what a public scandal and failing this is by the Scottish Government!

rookiemere · 14/07/2021 15:01

No @Scottishskifun you rail as much as you want, it's shocking that we're not doing more around long Covid sufferers in Scotland.
