I have an early 20 something dd who has been vaccinated and all her pals have been vaccinated too and desperate to have their appointments so they can get their lives back !

Scottishskifun · 07/07/2021 19:03

@ResilienceWanker yep looks like she is gearing up for a delay and will no doubt state long covid as one of her reasons yet still refuse to set up the long covid clinics...... Angry

My mum was telling me their local hospital now has a dedicated section and yetin Scotland it's a battle just to get a GP to take bloods and offer any advice further then take it easy and rest...... Wonderful!

So much for Scotlands leading health care system!!!!! Think the papers were reporting between 87,000 - 100,000 long covid sufferers in Scotland..... So we could fill a football stadium yet still completely ignored for targeted medical support!

mondaywine · 07/07/2021 19:39

Whatever they decide they need to let schools know in a timely manner. The two inservice days can’t just be rejigging arrangements. We need that time to actually plan dynamically for the coming year and get ahead of the blooming game. We need it to actually focus on teaching and learning. Not fecking new risk assessments and toilet signs.

WouldBeGood · 07/07/2021 21:40

@ResilienceWanker this is now just too much, she needs to just piss off.

Michellexxx · 07/07/2021 21:59

Just to update fr my previous questions re drop in vaccine centres. I went along and asked for second vaccine a few days before 8w. The lady was so nice but said they were being strict re 8w. I could tell she wanted to let me, but her colleague shook her head..

It was half an hour before closing, and dead. Seems crazy to me that they are being so strict with numbers like this. England have several places for

Grellbunt · 07/07/2021 22:12

That's a shame.
They're so inflexible.
It's infuriating.

dancemom · 08/07/2021 12:28

The first minister begins by delivering the latest Covid statistics:
• 2,802 positive cases reported since yesterday, representing 8% of tests carried out
• 306,449 total cases
• 401 people are in hospital, 14 more than yesterday
• 38 are in ICU, an increase of four
• A further four deaths have been reported following a positive test
• There have been 7,744 total deaths under this measurement

So do we think Scotland will follow suit with the scrapping of Quarantining from Amber countries? Suspect it's a moot point anyway as suspect most countries will decide they don't want us in now anyway with our hugely high rates.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 08/07/2021 13:04

I dropped into the briefing today part way through (because I didn't realise it was on) and have only seen clips indicating that decisions will be made next week on levels, schools, quarantine/isolation etc (although I think she said schools might be even longer than that?). I saw some hints that things like distancing and marks could last 'for some time' and obviously the usual digs at England's approach. Was anything of substance actually said, or was it all just hints that we shouldn't expect freedom any time soon but you'll have to wait for details?

hilbil21 · 08/07/2021 13:11

Nothing of substance.

Icannever · 08/07/2021 14:10

Pretty much just wait til Tuesday was all she said

Haudyourwheesht · 08/07/2021 14:22

Softening the ground before she delays the moving to level 0. And despite having lower case numbers than other authorities, Glasgow will probably remain in level 2. Nic's favourite authority, doncha know? Wink

Scarify · 08/07/2021 15:31

Is it our public duty to get out there and socialize as much as possible to bring the exit wave now in July?

Has she not learnt from keeping us all locked up last summer? FFS.

TheGenealogist · 08/07/2021 15:41

She's learned that it plays well in the polls to do the opposite of Boris.

You didn't really think this was about health, education and the economy, did you?

WouldBeGood · 08/07/2021 15:43

@TheGenealogist I saw a thing yesterday that shows her approval levels have plummeted. So that’s good, at least.

latissimusdorsi · 08/07/2021 15:44

@Scarify I honestly believe hardly anyone is listening anymore! I and my friends/family have followed the rules religiously throughout but all doing our own thing now
Hospitality not sticking to number of households allowed indoors in restaurants and cafes round here
People have had enough of moving goalposts
No-one signed up to restrictions until everyone over 18 was double vaccinated and schools had sufficient ventilation installed Angry

And as for the inequalities!
Football fans fine (except they weren't) but not nursery parents in a playground

ElephantOfRisk · 08/07/2021 15:49

DS2 (19) messaged me from Aberdeen last night (1am) to say he'd had shortness of breath, a tight chest and slight pain in his chest area all day and was getting himself more and more worried and what should he do? He'd googled and wasn't sure based on the NHS website, if he needed an ambulance or to wait and go to his GP.

It's hard when you aren't there, but it seemed to be neither of those options so suggested he either called 111 to get a better assessment of if he felt well enough to drive, he might be as well taking himself to A&E.

As he was just a few minutes away from the hospital, he went there, had his heart scanned (it was fine) and was given the option of waiting for a Dr or going home and contacting GP in the morning - we had this conversation at 2.30am. He decided to go home

I finally got hold of him after lunch today and he says he's fine so hasn't gone to the GP but interestingly, no-one did a covid test. He only had first jab last week so that might be the reason? Anyway, I'd have thought someone with chest issues at this time would have been tested?

I'm just glad he is feeling fine but wish he'd gone to the GP but what can you do?

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 08/07/2021 16:05

@ElephantOfRisk I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, but there have been reports of myocarditis (similar symptoms to those you describe) in young men particular after the mRNA COVID vaccines. The CDC have issued advice about it. Perhaps suggest to him he takes it easy for a while just in case.

ElephantOfRisk · 08/07/2021 16:10

Thanks @Y0uCann0tBeSer10us. I'm sure he's fine now just a bit worrying when you get a message at 1am asking if you think he should call 999!

I've told him to be aware if the symptoms come back to call the GP and get properly assessed. (he's a big strong lad but has always been prone to chest infections/croup/strep throught/tonstilitus etc)

I've suggested that in the meantime, more fruit and veg might help.... Grin

ElephantOfRisk · 08/07/2021 16:18

Just had a read and that does sound like what he had, he said he felt as if his body was on edge and something was about to happen but didn't. Like an almost panic attack he said.

WouldBeGood · 08/07/2021 17:16

@ElephantOfRisk hope he’s ok

ElephantOfRisk · 08/07/2021 17:21

Thanks @WouldBeGood, he seems fine now but just worrying when you can't see them.

Given the state he was last year with his throat and basically just having to put himself on a train home and nearly ending up in hospital, I'm hoping he's learned his lesson to seek medical help rather than just messaging me with basic details... and me recommending strepsils and paracetamol!

Scottishskifun · 08/07/2021 17:53

Glad he's OK tell him to log it via yellow card reporting just in case 👍

Glad that they let him into A&E!

ElephantOfRisk · 08/07/2021 18:05

Oh I'll tell him to do that, thanks.

He probably did his "cat from shrek" look at them - I fall for that every time!

YeDancer · 09/07/2021 08:21

anyone know what the amber country changes are for Scotland yet? DH thinks we should book lanzarote but I worry NS will make us still quarantine.

We adults are double jagged and DD is 13.

If we were English, we could go, but not sure what it means if we are Scottish.

There's a really good price we've found.
