Anyone seen or heard from SG, specifically Humza Insert Job Title Yousaf or the CovidSwinneybot? It would be nice to think they might make an appearance to clarify the forthcoming changes in England in context to where we’re at in Scotland? NS was always very keen to pop up on our TV screens for an unscheduled appearance whilst ‘protecting’ us, why not now as we’re making headlines across EuropeHmm

latissimusdorsi · 06/07/2021 20:41

@Bytheloch when Reporting Scotland were reporting on our league topping status and restrictions yesterday and today they very pointedly said no one from the Scottish gov was available for comment
Bet they weren't Hmm

latissimusdorsi · 06/07/2021 20:47

But they did role out Jason Leitch Confused

@latissimusdorsi

But they did role out Jason Leitch Confused
Just like Christmas when they were back peddling, it was Jason sent out to lecture us about the dangers of sharing a tattie spoon, to justify the change in messaging.

It’s appalling to not even hear from the Swinneybot, whose job is specifically Covid mismanagement related.

"@Bytheloch when Reporting Scotland were reporting on our league topping status and restrictions yesterday and today they very pointedly said no one from the Scottish gov was available for comment"

Ha, right. JL (and NS actually) have basically admitted that our lower immunity because of tighter restrictions is a key factor in the current chart topping infection levels. As the timing works out, we also find ourselves opening up completely at around the same time as having these record breaking infection levels, which is somewhat at odds with the much vaunted 'cautious approach' that was a key pillar in her election campaign, particularly as the FM is allegedly extremely concerned about the prospect of long COVID. Not enough to actually do anything about it like set up specialised clinics, obviously, but who needs action when you are communicating clearly 🙄. I can see why they wouldn't want the scrutiny.

Michellexxx · 06/07/2021 21:07

Has anyone here any experience of the drop in centres?
What info do you need to provide? I’m looking to get my second vaccine a bit early, so wondering what info I need. Thanks.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 06/07/2021 21:30

When DH went the other day he just got asked for his name etc.

ssd · 06/07/2021 23:07

frasersmummy · 07/07/2021 00:22

Michellexxx · 07/07/2021 07:36

Thanks. Seems straight forward. Do you need proof of when forst dose was?

titsintiers · 07/07/2021 08:17

You can get proof online @Michellexxx

frasersmummy · 07/07/2021 10:52

@Michellexxx

They can see the date when they input your details

Michellexxx · 07/07/2021 12:07

Ok, thanks. I’ll be a bit before 8w, will this be a problem?

SoMuchForSummerLove · 07/07/2021 13:39

Maybe. It does say you need to be at least 8 weeks after.

So much for numbers going down yesterday Sad

latissimusdorsi · 07/07/2021 17:01

Big drop in vaccine numbers recently
Last month Scotland was doing 40,000+ a day. UK numbers dropped too. Must be supply

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 07/07/2021 17:17

After today's surprisingly high numbers (I had thought the trend was downwards) I see Sturgeon is now saying that it would be 'irresponsible to set dates in stone' for full opening up. This sounds like a change in tone, and has me worried that they're not going to go down to level zero on the 19th after all. Actually, I'm more worried about the knock on effects and they'll then miss the August deadline too, which might mean distancing and bubbles remaining when the schools go back, and an exit wave in the Autumn which has me worried about NHS capacity generally over the Winter months. God, they really have fucked this up haven't they Angry

@latissimusdorsi The font of all knowledge who is my hairdresser, is saying that the 'young ones' are refusing the vaccine. My 2 eldest, 22 and 20 are not amongst them I have to say.

I do agree that England have an alignment of easing restrictions + school holidays = may be okay.

Whereas we'll have easing of restrictions just as schools return, which doesn't bode well.

latissimusdorsi · 07/07/2021 17:25

FFS!
Scientists saying countries will definitely have an exit wave. England timing there's for summer and school holidays to minimise effect as much as possible
We are already planning for week before schools go back and few weeks before autumn
If it doesn't happen 9th aug we'll have missed the boat. Really needs to be done in school holidays Angry

latissimusdorsi · 07/07/2021 17:30

@LizzieMacQueen I have a recently turned 18 yr old who had jag last week, and all her friends did too. Don't know anyone not having it.
But heard from someone working in vaccines centre about loads of no shows in Edinburgh last few weeks as they sent letters to students accommodation in June🤷🏼‍♀️

Scottishskifun · 07/07/2021 17:39

I'm very glad that we have several trips to England planned!
I think I believe what Chris Whitty is saying about trying to exit the wave before Autumn more then Jason Leitch who said a few weeks ago nooooo football wasn't contributing to the numbers only to do a u turn!

latissimusdorsi · 07/07/2021 17:43

I'm no scientist but even I know you need an exit wave in the summerHmm

Yes, this, totally! I thought the same on reading that NS seems to be gearing up for a further delay on the planned dates already. It's going to be last summer all over again - with relaxations at the end of the summer leading to a further wave in September/ October, and another autumn of restrictions to stop the NHS from keeling over.

And we can't get a commitment on bubbles disappearing, or double jagged people and children not needing to isolate as contacts, or exams going ahead next year. Or absolutely anything, seemingly.

BUT WE HAVE A VACCINE.... AngryAngry

Fuck me I need some Gin
