FFS. Depressing. It's absolutely run riot through my work, I think around a dozen people out now. Oh, and two more as of today.

WouldBeGood · 30/06/2021 18:38

Edinburgh folks, where should I park for my two day break to edinburgh? I would just take the train but I’m heading up to Fife straight afterwards.

rookiemere · 30/06/2021 18:46

@WouldBeGood where are you staying?

WouldBeGood · 30/06/2021 18:48

Down the Cowgate 😃

WouldBeGood · 30/06/2021 18:49

Don’t know whether to park and ride?

Scottishskifun · 30/06/2021 18:56

Check the road info out (it's probably on the hotel info) some parts of Edinburgh are free from 8pm on a Friday all weekend so you might only have a few hours to pay for

WouldBeGood · 30/06/2021 18:59

Yeah.. it’s Sunday to Tuesday though, as I’m getting the bargain hotel rates 😃

latissimusdorsi · 30/06/2021 18:59

On street Parking along tram route at Bankhead, Balgreen, murrrayfield and take tram in. Don't think you can park overnight at Ingliston park and ride.
Or Uphall station, Gyle station or Dalmeny and take train in. Car may be safer overnight as there'll be cctv at station car parks
all be handy for getting to Fife

latissimusdorsi · 30/06/2021 19:01

Or park on street round Corstorphine/ zoo and take bus

WouldBeGood · 30/06/2021 19:07

Thanks @latissimusdorsi I’ll check out those stations. Looked at the nearest car park to hotel
And it’s £54!

ffs. five days after school gets out we get a message saying DD needs to isolate after a positive case in her class Sad
meanwhile we've been away for the last few days, hopefully not spreading covid round Moray. literally got the text alert as we were driving home

titsintiers · 30/06/2021 19:51

Ffs @ClosedAuraOpenMind what a bloody shambles

WouldBeGood · 30/06/2021 20:02

Well, might as well ignore that @ClosedAuraOpenMind 🤷🏻‍♀️

You can do a test if you want for DD your already half way through "isolation" though if contact was the Friday even more if earlier! But if your DD is negative at this point it's extremely unlikely that she has it most people test positive or show symptoms 3-5 days from exposure! If it was me and a negative test this far in I would just carry on daily business!
ClosedAuraOpenMind · 30/06/2021 20:38

we've got a test booked for tomorrow, which I fully expect will come back negative.
it's just the length of time after school breaking up that really surprised me. I'm pretty sure we weren't the only family in a class of 33 who went away, all be it unwittingly, with potentially infectious kids. meanwhile her teacher was moving back to Spain (his home country) again potentially with covid.
DD was also meant to be going away this weekend with a pal from her class, so that's had to be knocked on the head. that's the second weekend trip she's lost because of isolating as a result of someone in her class testing positive, as we had to cancel a weekend camping at the start of June

Message from where? If you’re away already and no symptoms, back date to last day of school and you’re almost done anyway. I wouldn’t be paying it any attention now🤷‍♀️

Should I buy a hazmat suit for my trip to the Covid capital of Europe?

Scottishskifun · 30/06/2021 22:19

@WouldBeGood

😂 I thought you were going to Edinburgh not Dundee?

Some good news for you though track and trace is so swamped that seems they are having to concentrate efforts so it's only direct close contacts which means practically zero risk of being a restaurant or bar call up!

I have switched to outdoor tables where possible mainly as the weather is nice though!

WouldBeGood · 30/06/2021 22:36

Thanks @Scottishskifun - no fear of me being tracked and traced 😂

WouldBeGood · 30/06/2021 22:37

But I won’t need near anyone, except DP, of course

WouldBeGood · 30/06/2021 22:37

Be! Not need

itsjustlowhangingfruit · 01/07/2021 08:22

I saw that fresher's week is discouraged this year.

Cases will definitely rise in September though.

runningpink · 01/07/2021 08:35

How can they justify dropping freshers and classes online when they allow the football etc to go ahead in the way that it has.

Let the students have the experiences they should be having. Enough is enough.

Obviously any students who don’t want to should have the option of online but it shouldn’t be compulsory
