Starting this thread for those of us who are done. I don’t want to just rail or fight about it with those who still believe that government messaging is in our best interest. Enough is enough.

I genuinely don't think people know the current rules and won't know these so called new ones either.

It's just performance politics - seen to be doing something. How she could stand there with a straight face and lecture what the "new rules" are after the farce of the football beats me.

But even if they decide to go down that route, it will be months, if not most of the new academic year before kids could be fully vaccinated.

Think I invented a few while watching that 🙈 just glad my kids are out playing. It's just madness.

My eldest is out playing football. Technically he is meant to limit the number and distance, yet when he goes to training tonight he doesn't. It's all just madness.

I could go to the fan zone and be shoulder to shoulder with strangers, but need to limit the number in my house or garden.

I get irrationally angry when listening to NS, and I think the patronising tone is exactly why (plus the not so subtle digs at the 'reckless' UK govt to deflect from our COVID capital status). She is going to mandate masks because, apparently, "If government believes measures like this matter, and this government does, we should say so. We should do what is necessary to ensure compliance and we should be prepared to take any resulting flack from those who disagree. We shouldn't lift important restrictions to make our lives easier and then expect the public to take responsibility for doing the right thing anyway." Or maybe, you could treat us like the adults we are who somehow managed to muddle through life making reasonable decisions without being micromanaged before this all kicked off? Perhaps give us the respect to be able to risk assess a crowded train carriage vs an empty supermarket for ourselves?

The UK government deserve a few digs. So many actual experts not all that comfortable with the speed at which things will be opening in England.

It is what is is. Dig away. They don't give a shit anyway so why would folk on here.

Yes, the thinly veiled anti-UK rhetoric was on another level today, perhaps because the contrast between the two approaches will shortly become quite stark. She has made a lot of capital over 'winning' COVID and can't now admit that they've fucked it up a bit. On Monday people in England will be able to meet as many people as they like indoors and out without distancing, hospitality won't be limited, people will be trusted to make their own decisions on when/if to wear masks, businesses will be able to phase employees back in, and they have the clarity of knowing that in four weeks time isolation will end for the double jagged, and school bubbles will be no more. For all the gnashing of teeth, most experts seem to think they'll probably get away with it and come out the other side in a couple of months in a stronger position. The picture in Scotland will be a lot more restricted and a lot less certain, and this is on the back of an already more restricted population, and there will undoubtedly be a lot of anger and/or rebellion.
