Scotland- Enough is enough

Starting this thread for those of us who are done. I don’t want to just rail or fight about it with those who still believe that government messaging is in our best interest. Enough is enough.

I know people working in their bedroom. Never escape their work. working from home has been renamed living at work

Wakeupin2022 · 25/06/2021 23:51

I wfh too and I did before Covid.

If I had the choice I would be in the office.

I live my job but it is pretty shit at time.

My mum asked me today if it had been raining where I was ( we live quite far away from each other) I genuinely couldn't tell her. It was raining at that time but who knows when it started.

I sit next to a bloody window at home but I am so busy I don't even get the chance to look outside.

Walks at lunch or in the evening because I don't have the commute- I wish.

Some weeks I hardly leave the house Mon - Fri.

ssd · 26/06/2021 08:57

Yes i can imagine wfh is awful too. I would like it for a few days but any more would be hellish. And for someone like me so worried about covid it would have done me no favours, i would be like a hermit by now. So i totally accept its no picnic either. I guess there's no winners in this situation. We are all trying to get through as best we can.

ResilienceWanker · 26/06/2021 09:31

Agree on the wfh thing. It can be great, blending it with time in the office/ on site. But permanently it can be v isolating. I've been self employed since 2016, working from a home office, so with all necessary space/ proper equipment and chair and stuff. And I lived for the travel I did to client or team meetings, random local business guidance/ networking stuff and so on, just to see people! Early 2020 I was considering getting a desk in one of those shared working areas, just to be able to have a day or 2 a week in company. So that went well! and then all my work dried up so I wouldn't have been able to afford it anyway...

I'm not sure the increased time flexibility, that working at home gives you is 100% a benefit either. It can be "living at work" indeed. And by allowing/ encouraging employees to "fit in" work around other commitments you end up creating a 24/7 operation, which can be very stressful to work in, if you're made to feel you should be "on" 24/7 too. Of course, if you're sufficiently experienced/ senior you know to block out time in evenings and weekends, but its more difficult for young people, keen to impress, when they don't have the distinction of being "in the office" vs "at home".

WouldBeGood · 27/06/2021 09:40

Seems the zero Covid strategy is also failing in Australia. More lockdown in Sydney, people trapped in the country, and vaccine roll out hopeless because of the messaging about it.

WouldBeGood · 28/06/2021 14:30

And once again the default is to cover up and dissemble.

And they wonder why people don’t trust them 🤷🏻‍♀️

ElephantOfRisk · 28/06/2021 14:43

Yes, but seemingly people don't care and vote for them anyway? It needs to become as socially toxic to vote for the SNP as it seems to be to vote for the tories, but then who is left to vote for?

It's deplorable really, just leak out bits at a time and hope it sinks in the press, just chip away at what is acceptable until anything is.

I noticed that they weren't very vocal on the Matt Hancock thing - maybe they are starting to learn that people in glass houses yadda yadda.

WouldBeGood · 28/06/2021 14:50

They are all sleazy fuckers.

And yes, to the Matt Hancock thing: even they must’ve felt they couldn’t be too vocal on shagging and cronyism 😃

osbertthesyrianhamster · 28/06/2021 16:11

Was listening to the radio in the car today, all 'just put up with restrictions for a bit more'. It's always a bit more, a little longer, blah blah blah unless it's footie or tennis or themselves and their shagwagons.

ElephantOfRisk · 28/06/2021 16:14

And we still have areas on much lower positive rates than others under harsher restrictions. Either get rid of the restrictions or make them all the same. Other that automated responses from some, I've had no reply as yet from any of my MSPs but then it has been the weekend

osbertthesyrianhamster · 28/06/2021 16:23

If I never hear Jason Leitch's nasally twang again in my life I'll die happy. 'We're almost there' etc etc. No one's listening anymore, Jason, if they ever were.

ElephantOfRisk · 28/06/2021 16:28

I don't know who thought he had a nice voice for these things though my friend loves the way he speaks so there is no accounting for taste.

WouldBeGood · 28/06/2021 16:53

Does he do the “not giving in” ones? They give me the rage

TheGenealogist · 28/06/2021 17:11

I'm a little bit in love with Sajid Javid.

19th July, all bets are off, vaccines working, have to learn to live with this and get on with our lives.

charliebrown59 · 28/06/2021 17:12

Oh me too 'I've had two jabs but I'm still doing exhausting anti covid measures' etc etc

TheGenealogist · 28/06/2021 17:17

It's boiling in Glasgow today - warmest day of the year. And yet I have just passed two people walking along the road in their masks.

World has gone MAD

osbertthesyrianhamster · 28/06/2021 18:19

@WouldBeGood

Does he do the “not giving in” ones? They give me the rage
Yes, and on and on about how 'we' need to carry on with all restrictions even if long double jabbed and 'nearly there'. Fuck that.

I agree, TheGeneologist. Just jettisoned more on FB still banging on about how we're all going to die. Well, that part is true.

WouldBeGood · 28/06/2021 18:36

They’ve made me so bad I now don’t give a shit about dying of Covid. Or long Covid. Or terrifying variants.

WouldBeGood · 28/06/2021 18:38

Thanks btw @osbertthesyrianhamster. I never listen to the radio or watch live tv, but it was on while I was at the gym, with me shouting “I gave in fucking ages ago!!” From my toilet cubicle 😂

osbertthesyrianhamster · 28/06/2021 18:50

@WouldBeGood

Yeah, I do, too, but I had it on in the car. I turned it off. Don't care any more about existing like this. Fuck that.
WouldBeGood · 28/06/2021 18:54

No allegation of being a JL groupie @osbertthesyrianhamster 🤣

ElephantOfRisk · 28/06/2021 19:14

For a break I'm away to catch up on The Handmaids Tale - an imaginary tale of a world where folk that believe in a particular thing, impose their will on everyone else - oh wait....Grin

I'll say one thing, Gilead at least believe that women exist, even if they do treat them like shite.

WouldBeGood · 28/06/2021 19:26

I have a great Handmaid’s Tale mask

ElephantOfRisk · 28/06/2021 19:37

I've just pampered the fuck out of my face - it's still considering if it likes it or not, i'll maybe need to borrow that mask before I can leave the house.
