Starting this thread for those of us who are done. I don’t want to just rail or fight about it with those who still believe that government messaging is in our best interest. Enough is enough.

Hotel we were in had sanitiser everywhere and a one-way system. We ignored the one-way system on the basis that front door to stairs was about 2 steps, and we passed nobody. The one way system required us to walk through the busy bar. Go figure!

I work part time in a cafe with a ridiculous one way system. But we have to show we have one. If we don't have one we'll be closed down.

I hope these nonsense rules are removed come August. Where it's sensible and obvious to have a one way system that's great, where its just stupid then don't.

ResilienceWanker · 24/06/2021 08:34

One of the coffee chains gets a bit shouty at the till about it- but you just hold your phone up a bit and they nod as though they’ve seen it🤷‍♀️

Oh God. The Theatre of The Phones... It's like it's some bizarre ritual - like when birds dance around with twigs and stuff when they're mating. All about being seen to have done something, whether or not it's actually useful or whether you've actually done it properly. Quite what a one way system that directs people in and out through a single door does is beyond me. It's not like otherwise we'd just panic and get into standoffs with people coming the other way.

ElephantOfRisk · 24/06/2021 08:42

On the one way system in one of the restaurants we were in, DH and DS1 had missed seeing that the footprint stickers went two ways and one was the way to the loos and the other to the fire exit doors where we were meant to leave. They'd almost reached freedom (past the loos and the bar) when the woman on the bar spotted them and sent them back round the loop to go out the correct door. This way making them pass many more people... but the system must be obeyed. 😂😂🙄😁

I'm sobbing and shaking.

Had to go to the optician yesterday, I'm double-jagged, they're all double-jagged. They were trying to put a new screw in my glasses - have you seen the size of those slippery little fuckers? Probably not if you need glasses. Anyway, she just couldn't get a hold of the damned thing and had to remove her latex glove so she could grab it and have the moisture from her finger hold it in place.

Sobbing and shaking I tells ya.

*With mirth.

ElephantOfRisk · 24/06/2021 10:03

I'm presuming by now you've burned your glasses, washed your head in bleach and have a fully sealed plastic bag on your head?

Otherwise you clearly hate the elderly and vulnerable.

AlphabetAerobics · 24/06/2021 10:09

I went back after dark and torched the place - it was the only sensible option.

WouldBeGood · 24/06/2021 10:34

Yes, @AlphabetAerobics - and thanks for helping other visually challenged people stay safe!

ElephantOfRisk · 24/06/2021 10:42

But but but, you've left the perpetrator alive to commit further crimes! Although obviously she'll need to find another place to work....

RaspberryRoyale88 · 24/06/2021 15:22

I’m amazed and jealous someone else got a check up at the dentist.
I’m partway through work getting carried out at the dentist that needed a drill for part of it. It’s still not complete. I’ve had 4 appointments about the issue and the dentist is not allowed to give me a full check up even though he’s looking in my mouth anyhow. It’s not his fault so I’m not blaming him. I asked him specifically when I could get a proper check up and he said he had a quick look round the last time but it seems bizarre to me. That being said I’ve not saw my GP in a year, it’s all phone appointments. (I have an underlying health issue so sometimes I need to see them)

latissimusdorsi · 24/06/2021 15:45

Well on a positive note @RaspberryRoyale88 at least your dentist isn't trying to treat you over the phone like everywhere else in nhs

ResilienceWanker · 24/06/2021 16:18

Grin "... just hold the drill a little to the left...no, the other left... No, stop screaming, I can't tell you how to do your filling if you're screaming at me, can I..."

AlphabetAerobics · 24/06/2021 16:34

I've had dental treatment smug face.

£75 sheets for cleaning which stopped after approximately 20 seconds because of pain... and we all had to run out of the surgery due to AIRBORNE DEATH - so continued our chat re: treatment in the staff kitchen.

RaspberryRoyale88 · 24/06/2021 16:45

I’m having treatment which is a plus but because of covid rules and them understandably being very busy what should have been a treatment over two appointments at best a week apart, it has turned into 4/5 appointments over three months and it’s still not even fixed and my final appointment where it will actually get fixed is July. I have another tooth with a failing root that will need to get looked at but God knows when that will get done.

It could be worse though I know but it just bugs me that dental treatment I need is not allowed when it’s needed or got huge delays leaving me with pain but I can go and get drunk and watch the football and travel to London and have zero social distancing.

Boomisshiss · 24/06/2021 16:51

I started treatment on a tooth in March 2020 just before first lockdown still not heard a peep about finishing it . I think now it will need to be taken out when they treatment could have saved it .

WouldBeGood · 24/06/2021 16:57

My dentist has been normal for months.

WouldBeGood · 24/06/2021 16:57

I signed on as a new NHS patient after Christmas.

I do hope your glasses are still in quarantine.

Today’s laugh surely has to be one way systems still in place, but a little extra giggle for the baffled scientists re the rising cases in men age 18-44, this past week🙄
Nobody seriously ill, just testing positive. STOP TESTING WITHOUT SYMPTOMS. Of course there’s cases after the football, it’s a given.
Now laugh🤣

charliebrown59 · 25/06/2021 07:49

Is anyone getting their hopes up about living the continental vida loca after
their second jag? Trying not to!

WouldBeGood · 25/06/2021 08:07

No. I’m getting less hopeful about even getting to Edinburgh 😂

Firingpingpongs · 25/06/2021 08:17

Yes, I’m hating everything now. I’m sick of it. I’m sick of the judging, the inconsistency, the new normal, the ‘unprecedented times’, the waste, the lack of basic common sense, all our leaders are shite! Nicola was doing a better job than Boris but everyone has switched off now. The daily Coronavirus stats on the news is just white noise now. No one cares. Let’s get back to living. What has been the point of all of the last 18 months if we can’t?

Our kids have missed so many milestones. I’m seeing kids at some schools (usually private) having their final year prom, posh frocks, social dancing, the lot but not at ours. First world problem but still makes me fume at the inconsistency.

The fallout from this shall be theirs to deal with for many, many years.

BirdsandBeesmakinghay · 25/06/2021 08:58

Every bloody time you turn on the radio or watch the news, it’s just Covid, jabs, statistics, Long Covid talk. It feels like dying by degrees just listening to it. Now we also have the endless traffic lights for holidays system. The travel industry will surely go bust.

annabelindajane · 25/06/2021 10:13

Can’t we just say to people who are anxious about travel just to stay at home and let everyone else get on with it ?

ssd · 25/06/2021 10:13

Im so sick of it too. And im getting sick of listening to folk in my shop moaning they have to wear a mask when we wear them for 8 hours. Or folk tutting at you when you tell them the covid rules your company has said you must follow. Like its the sales assistants fucking choice. If one more person rolls their eyes at me I'll scream. Or else its the customers coming right up to uour face and laughing at you trying to step back, telling you its fine cos they had the vaccine!!! People sitting at home dont seem to realise these shop assistants are putting up with these sorts of customers all fucking day, not just the half hour you are in the shop. And we dont make up the bastarding rules either

ssd · 25/06/2021 10:13

Thats my enough is enough
