Scotland- Enough is enough

Starting this thread for those of us who are done. I don’t want to just rail or fight about it with those who still believe that government messaging is in our best interest. Enough is enough.

Also have to share our total frustration with GP care.

Our GP is not seeing people face to face. You have to be assessed over the phone first.

DH phoned on Monday to make a non-urgent appointment, was told that the GP would phone him at some time between 9am and 1pm on Thursday. DH is working from home but often on zoom calls to clients/colleagues and can in theory cut them off to take a call, not very professional but there you go.

But you can't do that if you're driving a bus, or working in a factory, or any number of other jobs where it's just not practical to take a call, or where you're in an open office/factory and you don't want all your colleagues to hear about your fungal toenail, or ear infection, or piles or whatever.

And they wonder why the NHS is under pressure???

The lack of routine GP appointments is winding me up too. Apparently it's working well and everyone that needs to be gets seen (!) but you still have to fight your way past the receptionist to even get a call back (all the 'routine' appointments are inevitably gone by the time you're back from the school run, and are you sure it can't wait until tomorrow..?). If you're lucky, after your couple of hour wait for them to call back, the GP might then agree to see you in person afterwards. I'm not at all surprised people are either leaving things too long and presenting later with more complex problems, or turning up at A&E with minor issues.

Haudyourwheesht · 23/06/2021 09:27

Yup. I've got a mole that I'd quite like checked, but it'll be a phonecall in a week and a half, then email a picture, then wait for the callback, then probably an in person appointment in another week and a half. I just cba.

Bytheloch · 23/06/2021 11:06

Respect for anyone in the travel industry taking action todayStar. Protests and messaging to governments today- absolutely need clarity.

Also in news today, live events and music industry asking for more information and support about how future events can be covered/insured.

I’ve seen many referencing the sports events which have all gone ahead. Really, I think we have much to thank the Euros and fans behaviour for🤣 Enough is enough is now really kicking in (no pun intended).

Yes. To quote someone on fb,

Singing is allowed at sporting events but isn't allowed at singing events.

Singing, especially with other people, has proven health and well-being benefits.

Save the NHS by singing in large groups.

WouldBeGood · 23/06/2021 11:47

I like that @mibbelucieachwell

charliebrown59 · 23/06/2021 12:11

I too have been wondering about mole progression haud, you can't even get boots to check them as they don't do that service in Scotland.

Maybe go on a lovely trip to York boots to get the mole checked! Desperate times...

Bytheloch · 23/06/2021 12:12

Just seen that VIPs/Executives will be exempt from quarantine (or any isolation) on arrival to the UK for the Euro finals.
Have to laugh at this now🤣

Dh has a largish mole on his shoulder blade (weirdly so does his brother and DS1!) I take a photo of it every few months with a ruler to keep an eye on it.

WouldBeGood · 23/06/2021 12:25

@Bytheloch surely this must mean the start of mass non-compliance?

AlphabetAerobics · 23/06/2021 14:35

... starting with a big BEAR HUG for WouldBeGood - cuz I know you LOVE hugs!

Still prepared to visit clutching the clipboard of officialdom.

WouldBeGood · 23/06/2021 14:41

😂 clipboard visits welcome!

I genuinely will not isolate any of the kids now short of them actually having covid. Numbers are higher than the peak after one of the strictest lockdowns in the world. She can fuck off. Her Twitter feed is all oh be good until august now. Thankfully seems a strong rebellion after the football antics.

We are away to England in a few weeks and I can't fucking wait to spend the week in a caravan 😂

WouldBeGood · 23/06/2021 14:58

I agree @IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021.

Just not doing it. Will proceed as I would have done with nasty bugs in the past.

hilbil21 · 23/06/2021 15:51

@WouldBeGood I saw this and thought of you Grin

Scotland- Enough is enough
ElephantOfRisk · 23/06/2021 16:04

My experience of restaurants in Cumbria - very small sample Grin

Gastropub type places x 2. Gave my contact number when booking. Had to wait at the door to be seated and wear a mask when moving around, check in app etc not even mentioned.

On-site restaurant - asked if had the app, said "no", they took my phone number - mask while moving about plus one way system (that took us past more people than just going out the main door would) they also had a sanitisation station but it was empty.

Cafe attached to supermarket. Wanted me to do the app log thingy, i said i didn't have it as would be the scottish one anyway. then a big convo about how i could download the main one and just use a random postcode.....stood looking at him, then he just took my phone number, which i half forgot as i was saying it so fully believe he thought i was making one up! He then insisted that i'd definitely need the app as everywhere would need me to have it - opened my mouth to correct him of that fact but decided just to nod and smile. All that to sit outside...

Ice creams from the kiosk, he had a plastic flap down and gave no shits otherwise.

Activities centre and after activity cold drinks in their shop bit - masks whilst at reception otherwise didn't care.

WouldBeGood · 23/06/2021 16:07

😂 @hilbil21

RaraRachael · 23/06/2021 19:37

My friend and I had lunch in a local cafe and neither of us could get the photo track and trace to work with our phones. We just put our phones away and nobody had any idea that it hadn't worked.

I’m doing that all the time now. 😳
ssd · 23/06/2021 22:56

I was at the dentist yesterday. Buzz the entry system, wait for a receptionist to take you in, use gel at door, social distancing all the while, straight into dentist room, check up, pay and go. Hardly any one in dentists except staff.
Then at work today, surrounded by customers barely a metre away, in fitting rooms with 8 other customers barely a metre away again. Place really busy.
Two total extremes.

Ridiculous.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 23/06/2021 23:09

Was up north for a week's holiday.

Some places had their own login system, ie the official app didn't read their QR Code. Confused

Some places asked for first name and tel number, written on a sheet of paper. Smile

One place did neither. We'd nearly finished our meal before we realised, so we didn't mention it. Wink

Hotel we were in had sanitiser everywhere and a one-way system. We ignored the one-way system on the basis that front door to stairs was about 2 steps, and we passed nobody. The one way system required us to walk through the busy bar. Go figure!

Most other residents didn't wear masks, at all.

One pub landlord told us he'd had a visit from the Covid police. 2 people got fined for not having signed in via T&T, and he got a bollocking (but no fine).

It's a lottery, I tell you.

WouldBeGood · 23/06/2021 23:10

T &t isn’t law though?

latissimusdorsi · 23/06/2021 23:15

@ssd you got to see a dentist? For a check up???? Maybe your dentist could have a word with mine about how its done

Bytheloch · 23/06/2021 23:25

Me too. One of the coffee chains gets a bit shouty at the till about it- but you just hold your phone up a bit and they nod as though they’ve seen it🤷‍♀️

The inconsistency is ludicrous. Again, something to laugh at🤣 but not so much laughing if you’re isolating/can’t take your child in to nursery (on another thread)🙈 because of rules that businesses are being instructed to follow.

It’s madness I tell you. Enough is enough.
