@WouldBeGood I hope Fife is kinder to you 😀

ResilienceWanker · 04/07/2021 20:07

@rookiemere

Och sorry *@WouldBeGood* that's a real shame. I have to say I did wonder about the rooms as from the pictures I'd seen it looked a bit gloomy, but enjoy being away from home.
Noooo. Gloom is good. I love a bit of luxurious romantic gloom. (Though admittedly, gloom to hide the fact you haven't cleaned round the bed is less good.)
ResilienceWanker · 04/07/2021 20:08

@riverrunning

Good to know about the hotel would but hope bits are enjoyable anyway. I escaped torrential rain in Edinburgh and am sunburned so feeling smug. Except for the leak I'm going back to...
Aaaargh! Hope the leak is short lived. It was impressive rain to be fair.
rookiemere · 04/07/2021 20:14

Actually I have a rail. I had a distinctly unimpressive facial ( voucher from 50th that has taken me over a year to be able to use) , then had to wait in stationary traffic for an hour and a half to get home due to flooding.

It's been a long time since I've had a facial but should it really mostly involve an annoyingly light touch tickling of my wrinkle lines ?

rookiemere · 04/07/2021 20:19

Oh and because of covid precautions ( or general incompetence) I had to fill in my name, address, phone number and email address on 3 separate pieces of paper. I was drowning in suppressed rage before they even started.

ElephantOfRisk · 04/07/2021 20:22

That doesn't sound very relaxing which i guess is the point of a facial? Never had one so not sure what you are supposed to feel like.

Groovee · 04/07/2021 20:30

Oh man. Met my colleague on Friday. She's just had T&P on the phone to say she needs to isolate after going to the dentist. She's doing a LFT to check but if it's positive I'll need to isolate.

Ffs not even safe at the dentist.

That doesn't sound as relaxing as it should have been.
rookiemere · 04/07/2021 20:46

And she coughed @Groovee I'll be well peed off if I get the self isolation call due to unpleasant facial. I'd very much doubt if it lasted more than 15 minutes as well, but I'm sure they would claim it did.

Oh man 🙈🙈
ResilienceWanker · 04/07/2021 21:17

Oh no- that doesn't sound right at all rookie! I'd be most annoyed at the unnecessary paperwork. But there should definitely be more caressing than tickling action going on. And lots of time lying down in a dark room with panpipes or jungle music or similar.

ResilienceWanker · 04/07/2021 21:22

Oh nooooo! You'd hope with the eleventy billion layers of PPE they use, you'd be safe there. (I hear...not that I've been allowed to set foot anywhere near my dentist for 16 months). Fingers crossed she's fine. That's just what you don't need with MrG. Flowers
Groovee · 05/07/2021 07:47

@ResilienceWanker that's what I'm thinking too, through all the PPE.

Mr G has the nurse this morning, hence why I am up early.

The rain really flooded round us yesterday.

riverrunning · 05/07/2021 07:52

I can only hope I really did miss 3/4 of july's rain and we aren't heading for a really wet July. Fingers crossed grovee for no isolation.

Impressive photos, dh said it was like an American style storm. Perhaps I'm a bit sad we didn't get to jump in huge puddles but I fear we may yet get the chance this July.

shouldistop · 05/07/2021 08:09

We were through Stirling way yesterday and the drive home was a bit hairy with that rain!
I hope that was all of July's rain at once.
Ds1 has asked to go and play at granny's (mil) today as nursery is closed. My mums coming round later to help with the baby while I do some cleaning. I need to get ds2 used to other people looking after him. He's 7 months now and hasn't even been out for a walk with any grandparents.

ssd · 05/07/2021 09:29

The rain here has been hellish as well. And im on my holidays this week. Oh well!
@WouldBeGood, where were you staying thats not so nice?

ResilienceWanker · 05/07/2021 11:21

I have to confess to a bit of schadenfreude at the swanky new golden turd St James shopping centre in Edinburgh massively leaking about a week after opening (presumably due to the cracked roof panel they reported a few days ago)... Quality workmanship as promised to the planning committee I don't think... A big boo to all the rain for those on holiday this week though. Sad

Hope you manage to get a bit of childfree time to yourself shouldistop ...don't spaff it all away on cleaning!

DH and DS have decided to go for the only walk allowed when self-isolating - to go and get a test. They both seem ok, but DS has a bit of a headache, and tactically, if either of them are positive (which they probably will be) it's best to start their isolation now rather than waiting for proper symptoms in a few days, triggering a new 10 days. Anyway, they seem quite excited to get out.

latissimusdorsi · 05/07/2021 11:33

Crikey @ResilienceWanker
What has become of us all when an exciting outing is a walk in the pissing rain to get a swab stuck down your throat Confused

shouldistop · 05/07/2021 11:34

@ResilienceWanker my mum will just stay in our house with baby ds anyway. The cleaning really does need done Sad

ResilienceWanker · 05/07/2021 12:11

Yy latissimus - but needs must! They avoided the worst of the rain. DH ballsed his up apparently, but was allowed an extra swab. He bribed DS with "a treat" but then realised he couldn't actually deliver on that, so modified it to "a treat that is already in our house or in the back garden" after the deed was done - which DS is rightly outraged by.

Boooooo to cleaning should - but hope you and mini-should have a nice time with your DM anyway. And slightly-less-mini-should with his gran too!

rookiemere · 05/07/2021 16:14

I got caught driving in the deluge. A quick drop off of teen turned into a nail biting thrill ride through gushing roads. Annoyingly it stopped raining almost as soon as I got home.

ssd · 05/07/2021 17:25

Thats the thing isn't it, it just starts suddenly and absolutely lashes. And then it dries up and the sun comes out. The washing is in and out here like a yoyo.

riverrunning · 05/07/2021 18:59

And good luck getting a roofing company for the next couple of months. Please let's have some good weather for things to dry out!

rookiemere · 05/07/2021 19:23

@ssd you're optimistic putting out washing. I read the forecast so our post holiday washing is all strewn around the house.

ssd · 05/07/2021 21:23

I know, i did 2 lots between Saturday night and Sunday morning, then it was dry so i hung it out and did 2 more....then the hung out stuff got soaked and i had 4 lots to dry and tumble dryer on the blink Confused
