@WouldBeGood

CDC says studies show it does
If whatever I have does turn out to be covid, I'll be back to rail that being in Scotland, and not having had my first jag til the end of may (so due my second in the next few weeks), has meant that I was less protected than someone my age (44) in England, who would have been double jagged by now. Not a huge rail in the grand scheme of things, but it is a bit annoying.

Yes, DD had covid last year (then aged 16) as did we all here. She was ill with fever, fatigue, chest pain and a cough for about two weeks, and then had post-viral fatigue for several months. She is more or less over that but still has chest pain occasionally which the GP has pretty much fobbed off. There is next to no support for long covid at all.

I also took months to recover but she has more lingering symptoms than me. Her friend on the other hand just had covid the other week and was barely ill. It does seem to have different effects on different people.

Groovee · 04/07/2021 11:43

My friend had Covid last year, she's had both doses and it swept through her primary school and they all tested positive in the house again. They seem to have been quite poorly this time again.

Im wondering if that data was for the varients before delta and its big sister delta plus? (I know..)

This new ones seems easy to catch

ssd · 04/07/2021 12:02

Yes @ResilienceWanker, its so totally unfair we are/ were so behind England

WouldBeGood · 04/07/2021 12:14

If anyone is worried and wants good and reassuring information on vaccines etc, then sailororscout on Twitter is really good.

Urk. Just been told that actually I DO have covid. That was quick, at least, given I only posted back the test yesterday lunchtime. Fingers crossed I stay the same... I'm feeling quite sprightly at the moment. I've never been a Statistic before.

WouldBeGood · 04/07/2021 12:24

Definitely no tartan tea for you then, @ResilienceWanker. Get well soon

Grin Thanks! I think I've got some emergency shortbread in the cupboard which I may have to crack open in celebration/ thanks - acceptably socially distanced from DH and DS. DH is setting up the perspex screens in our house as we speak...

ssd · 04/07/2021 12:32

Oh no!!! Seems to be rampant just now, i know 6 folks with it. You sure youre not just trying to be in with the in-crowd @ResilienceWanker Grin

Data is published in June so unlikely and UK hospital stats back it up with less than 8% being doubled dosed.
The zoe app will be recording data though and it also includes dates of vaccine and dates of positive tests so they will have a good picture with over 4 million users.

No vaccine is 100% unfortunately I think the stats were 90% effective on not catching it for Pfizer and a little bit less for AZ. I think that's also why they looked at mixing so that AZ over 50s could get a Pfizer booster.

Take it easy! Even if your feeling great it can creep up on you some days with a new symptom! Hope you stay mild lots of fluids and keep ontop of paracetamol even if it feels like you don't need it!
ResilienceWanker · 04/07/2021 12:52

Thanks! Yes, I know... I shouldn't be flippant Blush and I know things can change quickly. I'm going to order a pulse oximeter and a fuck-tonne of flu remedies from boots, just as insurance. And insist DH keeps me topped up with drinks - served with a 2m grabber-thing...

rookiemere · 04/07/2021 12:54

Sorry to hear that @ResilienceWanker . I'd take it easy for a couple of weeks, I found that I thought I was getting better after a few days, but then felt a bit floored if I tried to do anything until about Day 12. Of course that's assuming what I had was covid, as it was at a point when you couldn't get tested ( unless you were Prince Charles or Camilla and had decided to travel up to Scotland).

Haha think a bit of comedy gets you through it tbh and their is nout you can do about it!

It can just be a bit of a bitch it's like being at a works party you finally get away from the office bore start to relax a bit and enjoy yourself finally then wham the office leery smelly breathe guy corners you when your guard was down 😂

ResilienceWanker · 04/07/2021 13:48

Oh no, ski! I'm hoping for the covid version of going self employed to avoid all the dodgy characters in the office.

And yes, rookie - the knackeredness is a bit of a pain. I had a bath yesterday and had to have a lie down afterwards! And the same after taking laundry upstairs. though I am a lazy git, so it's not that unusual

Groovee · 04/07/2021 18:24

@ResilienceWanker hope you feel better soon x

WouldBeGood · 04/07/2021 18:24

Public service announcement: do not stay at house of gods - talk about emperor’s new clothes! DP has pointed out that out room is more Scrooge’s bed than orient express

ElephantOfRisk · 04/07/2021 18:35

Aww that's a shame as you were looking forward to that! I hope you leave a suitable review but don't annoy yourself and spoil your trip for now - hopefully you can just laugh about it for now.

ResilienceWanker · 04/07/2021 18:54

Thanks groovee Flowers

Sorry to hear that wouldbegood. That's always disappointing when you have high hopes for somewhere Sad It does look lovely from the website - I was looking at it for an "in-between Christmas and Hogmanay" quick break last year when Christmas itself was looking shite. But then the second lockdown was announced so we didn't, obviously. Hope you manage to make something of your break anyway. Though it always is spoilt by not having a nice hotel room to retreat to.
(Mind you, if the Orient express is anything like the Caledonian Sleeper, which I'm sure it is, the beds would be shite on that too).

Nothing else for it then to have a load of cocktails and pass out! 😁
riverrunning · 04/07/2021 19:11

Good to know about the hotel would but hope bits are enjoyable anyway. I escaped torrential rain in Edinburgh and am sunburned so feeling smug. Except for the leak I'm going back to...

rookiemere · 04/07/2021 19:24

Och sorry @WouldBeGood that's a real shame. I have to say I did wonder about the rooms as from the pictures I'd seen it looked a bit gloomy, but enjoy being away from home.
