Not much suoport on Glasgow live for the ongoing restrictions.

Hopefully the tide has turned.

I think people are just really really fed up now

Lockdownbear · 15/06/2021 22:37

Its the contradictions and conflicting messages that are getting me.

Safe to have 6000 at one outdoor event in tables of 8, but not safe to have parents watch their own kids nursery graduations or sports day. Not even outdoors.

I'm no longer buying its safe to have coffee in Starbucks with 30 other folk, than to have coffee in the house with a pal.

I really think they'll struggle to get people to buy into restrictions again.

itsjustlowhangingfruit · 16/06/2021 08:17

cases are going up though. we might have less deaths but can they really get to tier 0 or tier minus zero whilst cases keep going up?

Scottishskifun · 16/06/2021 08:37

@ssd

Thanks starry. Yes it was scary. I bought an oximeter last year when he was bad, it was 35 quid from boots. I didn't tell anyone here as it would have scared them. I've still not even tried it. I just wanted it incase.
An oximeter helped me massively when I had covid would have ended up with a hospital stay if I didn't have one! I still had paramedics but I think it would have been a lot worse without it.

Meant my DH was able to track it call NHS 111 when it got bad, I got steroids early to help my breathing and was helpful for the Dr's on video assessment.

@starryeyesuprise it can be very horrible especially a moderate case and your work colleague will need to take it very slow and get help with the kids. I was 3 weeks in bed you don't do that with a toddler about.
It does improve but it's slow and frustrating. It is uncommon to get a moderate case but it's a bit pot luck! Sounds like your colleague like me is just unlucky! It's also typical in a moderate case for it to be 4 weeks minimum for slow improvement. She must not push it which with young children you feel guilty about.

Supplements which will help especially with the fatigue is magnesium, vit b complex, high strength vit D and vit C. Q10 or umbiquinol is also a good one as its mitochondria support but it's quite pricey.

I wish I had started on the magnesium and B complexes sooner they have really helped me!

StarryEyeSurprise · 16/06/2021 08:39

Thanks Scottishskifun, I'll let her know. Her husband is ill too so they are really struggling to look after the kids.

Scottishskifun · 16/06/2021 08:45

@StarryEyeSurprise

Thanks Scottishskifun, I'll let her know. Her husband is ill too so they are really struggling to look after the kids.
If they have a family member who is several weeks past double vaccination and is happy to help them out/isolate then it will be a good option for them.

My DH also got ill but no where near as bad as I did which was a blessing. Lots of Disney channel got us through.
Lots and lots of water but she also needs to eat! Which can be really difficult for me everything tasted like oil so I didn't want to eat!
Even if someone can pop round prepared meals for the kids and soups for the adults it will help her but basically they need to not be scared about calling 111. The video Dr's appointments helped and steroids made a huge difference for me and my breathing.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 16/06/2021 09:07

Everything tasting like oil sounds awful (apart from all of the obviously awful stuff too of course).

Starry, hope there is better news today. Flowers

ssd · 16/06/2021 09:28

I'm glad those supplements are helping you ski, you've really been through the mill.

Scottishskifun · 16/06/2021 10:11

@ssd

I'm glad those supplements are helping you ski, you've really been through the mill.
Thanks I think I just accept that I've been unlucky with it all! My DH is back running etc.

What I struggle with is the frustration of having to find information out on my own if I had known about supplements earlier than I think I would be further along but a Dr doesn't prescribe them so I didn't have a clue. It's where my frustration comes from not having long covid clinics. If the expertise were in one place rather then disjointed and GP dependent then people would start feeling a bit better sooner which is massive.
Whereas currently your told to go read stuff...... With serious fatigue reading is a high energy activity and I can still only manage short bursts not pages of documents to find info!

ssd · 16/06/2021 10:45

Its really ridiculous you have been waiting for help and there's nothing there.

ssd · 16/06/2021 17:32

The only good thing about having to wear a mask working in a shop is customers can't see you yawning or pursing your lips at another daft question

SoMuchForSummerLove · 16/06/2021 17:57

I love wearing my mask so I can sing to myself as I wander round Tesco Smile

I'll need to remember that without a mask my frequent mouthing "FFS" is visible . Blush

I've always done this under normal circumstances anyway. Keeps the nutters away, frankly. Grin
runningpink · 16/06/2021 18:55

Was jabbed just over three weeks ago and received my blue letter today for my second vaccine already!
The scheduled one will be 8.5 weeks after the first so they appear to be ramping it up!
Although the location/time is not doable for me so about to battle to change it again.

Why they couldn’t just let us log on and choose a suitable appointment. Would be so much less hassle

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 16/06/2021 19:06

running I just phoned the number. Got a really helpful man, on a Sunday morning too. Was no hassle.

WouldBeGood · 16/06/2021 19:08

Asda is the best shop for tunes to sing along to

What rights do emoyees have NOT to work from home? I can't do it any more,I just can't. I broke down about it and told my Boss I'm not able to do it any more. He sais" are you saying you're not fit for work?". No! I'm saying I cant and wont work from home any more. We have a meeting on Monday to " look at options ".
Our offices are in a big old house, huge offices, all Covid compliant. People could easily work there part time and be compliant. But he wont budge. To my mind the Scot Gov recommendation is just that, not law! Any advice?

ssd · 16/06/2021 19:31

Sounds awful ma. Can you speak to your gp and say wfh is affecting your mental health?

Lockdownbear · 16/06/2021 19:32

There is certainly something about "WFH where possible"

So make comments about no suitable space in your house, poor Internet speed, need access to files, no storage at home, home not secure.

latissimusdorsi · 16/06/2021 19:35

@dementedma I've heard of people citing poor WiFi, lack of space at home. Also effect on mental health on being unable to get away from work if you're working at kitchen table or bedroom.
Could any of this apply to you?
