@ssd

Im amazed all they offer is testing for asymptomatic folks

They need to get vaccines out here asap

Yep. They couldn't run a bath.

By downplaying the cases in East Ren a couple of weeks ago while yet again treating the people of Glasgow like lepers, they've hobbled themselves in terms of putting extra measures into East Ren. Either it's a situation of concern or it's not. They said it wasn't. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well done on your gym class effort @WouldBeGood . I took the plunge ( literally) and joined David Lloyd as figured it was likely the closest I'd get to an outdoor pool in the sun this year.
Although may have been undone by meeting friends outside and not realising we were doing drinks and food, not just drinks whoops. Almost didn't bothered so skunnered am I by the threat of Track and Trace .

WouldBeGood · 03/06/2021 22:58

Thanks @rookiemere! And hope you enjoy your new gym. Going for drinks and food is so nice too.

I must be going mad again as I’ve today contemplated an outdoor dip.

Hopefully, back to sanity tomorrow.

riverrunning · 04/06/2021 08:29

I was all set to join the omni for the pool this summer as it's closest and dh said 'it's where young people go to work out' - he's in the dog house for that comment!

Railing against east Dunbartonshire council who have put a blanket ban on parents attending nursery graduations (outdoors) or school inductions / visits.

Parents in Glasgow are allowed to attend.

Haudyourwheesht · 04/06/2021 10:54

Our nursery (Glasgow private) aren't having parents. Luckily DD has another year.

Lockdownbear · 04/06/2021 11:44

Our nursery isn't having parents.
School took their chances and held school induction outside - for both kids and parents. Better than nothing but not ideal.

shouldistop · 04/06/2021 11:49

My ds still hasn't met his teacher or even visited the school playground Sad

WouldBeGood · 04/06/2021 12:19

That’s rubbish @shouldistop. It’s these events and moments that make up for all the pish of child rearing. That swell of pride and loveliness. What a shame.

Ours is the same... They'll post a pic on their sway for us.... I am so relieved with my (forced by the council, who wouldn't give us funding in the private setting for our eldest) decision to split my preschoolers time between private and council setting back in the day. It's been a blessing in disguise. The school and nursery are attached and the nursery kids are familiar with the school, and transition will be robust throughout the summer. But yeah, parents not allowed in to support. It's a good thing she's resilient Angry.
Groovee · 04/06/2021 12:54

The council have cancelled their transitions. We're not even allowed to move classrooms before the end of term.

We're doing a nursery transition with the children we have going to school where we will play in their playground with their teacher. We're having teams meetings for those moving elsewhere. But transition is nothing like what we had hoped.

riverrunning · 04/06/2021 13:52

Do a picnic in the park with fizz with nursery friends on the day of it after pick up? So many milestones not properly celebrated - when things are normal people are going to go celebrations crazy!

Oooh look, you've lost a tooth, time for a lost tooth party.

Otoh, personally glad not to have to go to sports days!

shouldistop · 04/06/2021 14:59

@riverrunning that's a great idea, think I will organise something.

WouldBeGood · 04/06/2021 15:04

That’s a nice idea 😊

I’m not railing for once! Just really proud of DS - he’s got an amazing report card, saying polite, hardworking and a pleasure to teach, across the board. Apologies for the smunting post, but it’s just so lovely after this awful year for him. Not a good year to start high school!

OP posts:
riverrunning · 04/06/2021 16:20

Ooh that's great news would you'll be needing to celebrate that! That's a nice end to a difficult school year

latissimusdorsi · 04/06/2021 16:37

Well done @WouldBeGood jnr.
Great to have some heartwarming news Star

Groovee · 04/06/2021 17:01

That's lovely news @WouldBeGood

rookiemere · 04/06/2021 17:04

Well done @WouldBeGood DS. It's especially precious when they have done well after such a messed up year for them.
