@Brcaml could you ask Beatson about patient transport or volunteer drivers?

WouldBeGood · 15/05/2021 12:28

They definitely have them there as the guy let me park in one of the spaces when I was tearfully fraught as I couldn’t get parked for work one day 😳

I've seen the ambulances that look like mini buses collecting and dropping people off, but to be honest I thought they were taking older people to and from care homes - didn't really give it much thought but it makes more sense that they are the patient transport service. I will give my Macmillan nurse a call and ask her for their contac details - thank you all who suggested I feel a lot more settled just knowing there is another option.

WouldBeGood · 15/05/2021 12:36

They do those but also volunteer drivers with cars. Hopefully will still be on, despite Covid 🙄

Fingers crossed!

@Brcaml if they're looking for "medical " evidence of need for it just state mental health reasons and you will have panic attack on public transport at moment ( which may well be true if you're extremely anxious about travelling to your appointment!)

Scottishskifun · 15/05/2021 12:44

@jabbathebutt give the vaccination number on the letter a call you might be able to get your second given the dose and appointment is ear marked for you as long as its 21 days past your first one 😊

WouldBeGood · 15/05/2021 12:47

When DP went for his second one they asked him if it was his second or first @jabbathebutt so I’d just go along

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 15/05/2021 12:50

@titsintiers panicky here too.

I feel it will never end. Can’t even look forward to my dutifully booked Scottish staycations far less anything more exciting.

Worried about schools snd gyms and hairdressers closing again too.

rookiemere · 15/05/2021 13:04

@jabbathebutt I think it's a technical error. I initially got an email inviting me for my first injection but I'd already had my first. Within a day got another email saying it was my second, incidentally only 8 weeks after my first.

latissimusdorsi · 15/05/2021 13:09

If you just go along jabba you'll need to make sure they're the same vaccine you got for 1st dose though!

WouldBeGood · 15/05/2021 13:14

That’s true @latissimusdorsi!

OP posts:
jabbathebutt · 15/05/2021 13:18

good point but I personally don't mind. Does it matter?

latissimusdorsi · 15/05/2021 13:21

Yes 2nd dose has to be same vaccine you were given for 1st

WouldBeGood · 15/05/2021 14:53

No cause for alarm says vaccine adviser

DH works for patient transport and takes folk to the beatson. The call centre tries very hard to discourage people from using patient transport. When you call be very determined. It's not over-run and keeps folk in a job and available to take people who need it. You are a vulnerable patient and should be accommodated.

Railing against the mass gathering of football fans today. Absolute inconsiderate arseholes. Who knows what their behaviour will lead to next in the tiers assessment.

Groovee · 15/05/2021 15:56

@jabbathebutt

so after ages waiting for my jag (I'm vulnerable) I had my first one in April.

I've now gotten a letter inviting me for my first jag next week.

Bit confused - can I still go even though its my second not first?

How do I get this corrected? Bit worried they might cancel if I point out the mistake.

Anyone know what to do?

I'd phone the helpline.
Groovee · 15/05/2021 15:56

@Brcaml

This has me utterly gutted and a bit scared. I have to travel to city centre on train then catch a connecting train to hyndland for treatment at Beatson in Hyndland. I live miles away and don't drive so the price of a taxi is astronomical - I know it's not likely that I will catch anything walking to my connection but it's being on the train with other people that I'm worrying about. My immune system is on the floor just now and I know I'm being a bit irrational but I just wish covid would fuck the fuck off.
Sending you hugs. If I lived closer ai'd offer you a lift. X
Groovee · 15/05/2021 15:59

I need something to look forward to in my summer holidays... but because I don't know how Dh will be or when he will return to work, I can't book anything.

WouldBeGood · 15/05/2021 16:10

Good point @Brcaml if you’re In Lanarkshire or near pm me if you’d like a lift

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 15/05/2021 16:11

@Groovee I don’t think we will be allowed out anyway

OP posts:
jabbathebutt · 15/05/2021 16:19

right so DH phoned up to check for me and I've not to go. I've to wait for my proper second jag. Bugger. They are going to sort my records though so the first jag I had in April is recorded.

Brcaml · 15/05/2021 16:53

@ElephantOfRisk , @Groovee @WouldBeGood

Thank you all so much for the advice and offers, I'm having a weepy day today and you have cheered me right up. I will give the a call Monday and I won't take no for an answer x

Will be interesting to see how Saint Nicola and Sidekick Humza play that one as they supported the people assembling in similar numbers to stop that deportation earlier in the week.
RaspberryCoulis · 15/05/2021 16:56

Actually to be fair looking at the photos, there are more football fans than there were protestors.

Lots of fireworks going off earlier.
