@ssd you're not wrong about youngsters having a tough time, mine are 17,20 and 22, they have had so many things they were looking forward to cancelled and just ordinary young person fun and milestones, DS1 had just got his life back on track after a few years in the wilderness and DS2 was beginning to find his feet socially at last at uni when it all shut up shop, and as for DS3 well his exam years have been a shit show. They are being remarkably stoical really but i want to see them enjoying themselves more.
Totally agree. All we're told is "ah, children are resilient... they'll bounce back"
. Which they may or may not do, eventually - with varying amounts of help. But in the meantime, they've had so much cancelled or changed beyond recognition, which they won't be able to get back. It may not be big things, but when I think of the things I did in later school/ uni, not having those would have been a huge chunk of my "best years of my life" memories. Not sure a Zoom tea party, or sitting in the park with a mate would have made the cut.
