@titsintiers

I really feel for people in their late teens/ early twenties. It really feels like a while before things will be properly normal for them.
I agree, they are the ones giving up the most and getting the least back. It doesn't affect me so much, except i cant get drunk in a pub, but who cares about that, i cant handle it now anyway... Mine are early 20s and what with no going into uni or going to the football or meeting pals or meeting girls in nightclubs or going to zante etc its been frankly shit. I'm kind of sick of listening to my age group moaning. Whats really different for us now?? We can go out meet pals have dinner parties etc. We dont want to be out after 12 anyway Grin
Lockdownbear · 02/06/2021 08:39

I didn't know that about matches. How can we be trusted to vote and join the army at 16, but not light a scented candle?!

Its bonkers, I went to buy matches to light a stove and the young boy behind the counter couldn't sell me them as he wasn't 18 and under 18s can't verify the buyer is over 18!
(He did get his supervisor but still it was Hmm moment)

florafoxtrot · 02/06/2021 08:47
@forfucksakenett have you tried to find a organised sports activity for an under 3 recently?

Only one in our area which takes under 3 is Rugbytots which has a 3 month wait list!
Kids gymny sessions all still shut, football is from 4, no toddler yoga. It's pretty much park or park which when peeing it down with rain for weeks on end is more than miserable!
Just jumping on to say have you looked for gymnastics or kindergym? My DD is 2 and has been back at Kindergym for a month now. That’s Aberdeen city and know you are Shire but might be worth looking into if you didn’t know it was running again and were really keen to do something like that. They start them from 18 months and I had the option of a few venues.

Scottishskifun · 02/06/2021 09:13

@florafoxtrot thanks the local ones in the shire are in the leisure centres which are vaccination hubs currently 🙈

Will have a look at the city ones though its been so long since we have been into Aberdeen that I forget it's an option even if a bit more of a drive! 😂

Lockdownbear · 02/06/2021 20:09

One of the other issues with things like Kindergym is they are block bookings and tend to be quite expensive.

While families might be able to afford the occasional rainy day in softplay committing to a weekly session isn't affordable.

There's another thing that's unable to happen, Scouts unless they have an outdoor space, near their Hall. They can't meet in parks because they still need to provide toilets, and the public toilets are locked at night.

At our first (of 5) Air BnBs and the bed is terrible, so soft that I completely sink into it Sad it's also 27 degrees in the bedroom - won't be getting much sleep tonight.
Only here for 2 nights then onto Cornwall.

If there is a fan then a bowl of ice cubes with a bit of water in front should help cool down the room. Other things would be to put pillow case and sheet into a bag and pop in the freezer for a bit then remake the bed just before bed. Take the duvet out and just use the duvet cover as well overnight.

It can regularly be +25 degrees and humid at night at PIL House down south in summer so learnt a few keep cool tricks!

shouldistop · 02/06/2021 20:40

There's no fan or ice Sad hoping it cools down in an hour or so. Put a big bottle of water in the freezer a couple of hours ago. Poor ds1 was put to bed at 7.30, I just checked on him and he's lying awake in bed too hot.

Scottishskifun · 02/06/2021 21:11

Fingers crossed! Keeping the curtains shut all day also keeps rooms cooler 🤞

shouldistop · 02/06/2021 21:12

Yeah, you'd think the owners would have done that today 😫 by the time we arrived after 4 it was an oven.

WouldBeGood · 02/06/2021 21:15

Oh lord, @shouldistop, hope it cools down and you get some sleep

Managed to get big ds to sleep by holding a cold cloth over his eyes. Baby ds went to bed at 6.45 and has been up 3 times since then which doesn't bode well...

Wbeezer · 02/06/2021 22:50

@ssd you're not wrong about youngsters having a tough time, mine are 17,20 and 22, they have had so many things they were looking forward to cancelled and just ordinary young person fun and milestones, DS1 had just got his life back on track after a few years in the wilderness and DS2 was beginning to find his feet socially at last at uni when it all shut up shop, and as for DS3 well his exam years have been a shit show. They are being remarkably stoical really but i want to see them enjoying themselves more.

I feel they've totally been forgotten.

There's no one sticking up for them.

WouldBeGood · 02/06/2021 23:58

@ssd I just saw that on Twitter. I agree. But the guardian has a bloody cheek after being the paper of Doom all year!

That's a scary article 64% at risk of depression up 15% since before the pandemic. So 64-15= 49% were at risk of depression before the pandemic.

Something seriously wrong before we went into the whole situation. The amount of young boys and men going missing is very very frightening.

shouldistop · 03/06/2021 07:34

Well the room eventually cooled down to.... 25 degrees Sad thumping headache today, baby was up a lot for feeds.
Ds1 is bouncing though as we're off to a theme park Grin

shouldistop · 03/06/2021 07:36

I really feel for teenagers and young adults too. Isolating from peers goes completely against their nature, they're meant to hang about in groups going to parties and having a good song / shag.

latissimusdorsi · 03/06/2021 07:41

Ooh theme parkSmile have a fabulous day @shouldistop
Paracetamol for the headache and lots water and you'll be grand Hopefully tonight won't be quite so 🥵

Icannever · 03/06/2021 07:42

What theme park are you off to @shouldistop? Hope you have a lovely day. We went to Alton towers last week and my best advice after many theme park trips is to get there before the park opens as it will just get busier all day. If you can get on a couple of rides with no queues in the first hour the rest of the day will feel better 😀

Scottishskifun · 03/06/2021 07:45

Ouch lots of water @shouldistop
Have a fab day out! Hopefully tonight won't be as hot maybe see if there is a argos about for cheap fans?

shouldistop · 03/06/2021 07:50

Drayton manor Smile

I don't think we realised it was an English school holiday when we booked but never mind!

Yeah we'll head early. Downing a cup of tea in between nappy changes / suncream etc.

Wish us luck!

shouldistop · 03/06/2021 07:51

I'm leaving the windows and curtains shut today and the forecast says it's to be cooler today so hopefully be better tonight. Tomorrow we're off to Cornwall!

WouldBeGood · 03/06/2021 08:14

Good luck, @shouldistop, have a lovely day
