I'm pretty tanned but not burnt. Kids are just their usual colour. My boys are part Middle Eastern and if one more person tells me how tanned baby ds is I'm going to get really annoyed. This is people who know their heritage as well. Why would I let my baby get a tan?! Mini rail for today.

Tomorrow we're going on holiday Grin

Lockdownbear · 01/06/2021 09:58

It was fab to see the sun this weekend. I hope it hangs around.

Like everyone else fedup of dreich weather.

runningpink · 01/06/2021 10:13

Away to the park with the kids at work..I will report back with any crazy covid behaviour!

Enjoy your holiday @shouldistop where are you off too?

shouldistop · 01/06/2021 10:20

Have the most amazing time!

We didn't have the best weather when in England but it did feel like a proper break and if its rubbish you can book into softplay!!!

runningpink · 01/06/2021 11:19

Oh Iv always fancied going to Cornwall. Have a fab time

shouldistop · 01/06/2021 11:29

Yeah I promised ds a soft play trip Grin

runningpink · 01/06/2021 14:15

Only thing to report from play park was one lady had white cotton gloves on. Can only assume so she wasn’t touching the equipment with her bare hands but who knows.

RaspberryCoulis · 01/06/2021 14:20

this differentiation between Level 2 and Level 1 - a couple of extra people in the house or a handful more in the garden?

Hardly much to get exited about, is it?

Lockdownbear · 01/06/2021 14:21

Runningpink, I can only picture her in a dress and hat, wedding style, if you'd said a bloke is have him in a black dinner suit, snooker referee styleGrin

But I know your going to tell me she was in scruffy jeans.
Maybe I'm being unkind, maybe she has a skin condition Blush

riverrunning · 01/06/2021 14:28

White cotton gloves? I don't think I've seen that outside of an old times movie! I'm impressed runningpink

My mood is set to hyper, I'm enjoying the sunshine so much.

I fear forecast not as good for tomorrow though.

But, but SOFT PLAY.... I think the toddlers and kiddies of MN have to disagree with you there. Grin

All seems a bit academic, as us central belters aren't getting there any time soon...

My MIL (may she rest in peace) gave me some white cotton gloves once. She said they were for putting tights on without them snagging. I think she overestimated the quality of my tights and, indeed, the smoothness of my legs and pedicuredness of my feet. It's not my hands that murder my tights, in general. Actually, it's mostly the cat, or velcro, but my feet don't really help matters.

RaspberryCoulis · 01/06/2021 14:39

Mine are all too old for soft play, thank the lord.

But the poor owners of those places, they've had 16 months of zero income.

shouldistop · 01/06/2021 14:44

Was there an update then today? We've been outside all day Smile

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 01/06/2021 14:44

What I don't get is that if there's so little difference between levels 2 and 1, which NS went to great pains to point out, why not just give us all the psychological boost and let us progress anyway? It's not like level 1 doesn't still have a tonne of control measures associated with it.

That made me laugh!

I know what you mean there might well have been a health reason or something for wearing them. It was an older lady/grandparent and I couldn’t tell you what she was wearing the gloves distracted me too much!

Can level 1 and 2 travel to each other’s areas or are you stuck with only travelling to somewhere that’s in the same level as you?

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 01/06/2021 14:47

I think levels 0-2 are in a 'band' and you can travel freely between them. It's only 3 and 4 that were more restricted.

runningpink · 01/06/2021 14:52

@Y0uCann0tBeSer10us thank you! I was panicking that I wouldn’t be able to see friends again as we will now be in different levels yet again

Precisely. There was someone on the news last night saying that their risk assessment ( or maybe sector guidance?) would only allow 30 children in at a time, and they had planned cleaning/ ventilation and whatever to the nth degree. But that's not considered safe - whereas 6000 people gathering for the football in a fortnight is fine Hmm. I mean, there is obviously a difference, but you have to feel sympathy for them when put like that, really! Maybe the football fans should be shoved in a big ball pit, and let the toddlers rampage round Glasgow Green with the cans of tennents.

Yes, this. I couldn't watch the briefing, but it's not clear from reports if there were any methods suggested to get the numbers in the central belt down at all. Like ramping up vaccines, or whatever, as in Glasgow. Because otherwise, I can't see how there will ever be "cases" low enough to move down. Especially if the emphasis seems to be on increasing asymptomatic testing in high areas...well, that's not going to help reduce cases, is it?!
Scottishskifun · 01/06/2021 15:10

Softplay!!! I know many will go so what but I am so relieved for our local softplay who have been hanging on by the skin of their teeth for so long! I'm not in the central belt.

Also wedding and funeral numbers is quite a big difference for those who have had their weddings cancelled and changed multiple times.

Hopefully central belt will move soon they were due to update in a few weeks about what happens past end of June no idea what will happen with that one!

Lockdownbear · 01/06/2021 15:12

The rules about softplay are ridiculous. Just bonkers. They bang on about kids being unfit, and sitting on xboxes, yet the places they could go to on a wet day are shut.

I've just read they estimate the amount of exercise kids get is down by a 3rd since the start of the pandemic. Kids have got lazy, forgotten how to play and whats ScotGov doing to help, Sweet FA.

Any summer programmes set out?
Any initiatives to get kids back out playing?

Certainly the weather hasn't helped but its the combination of factors.

shouldistop · 01/06/2021 15:17

I see EDC is remaining in level 2. Im disappointed but not surprised. We'll just go to Clydebank for softplay.

riverrunning · 01/06/2021 15:20

Just given up and cancelled our two weeks in Italy for July today, it's been obvious since about two weeks after we booked in December that it wasn't going to happen but may need medicinal booze tonight, perhaps something Italian to soften the blow.

At least the weather is great, I've been the envy of all my colleagues having booked this week off.

WouldBeGood · 01/06/2021 15:27

Oh that’s a shame @riverrunning. Maybe Bellinis, limoncello and a nice Chianti?
