Clacks here - think we're 3rd worse in Scotland and it's the schools. We'll be locked up again soon I think. I don't think I can do it again.

shouldistop · 22/05/2021 07:46

I think east Dunbartonshire will be back in level 3 very soon Sad

WouldBeGood · 22/05/2021 10:16

I am railing against SAGE. They’ve now said there was not evidence that the variant was more transmissible or just spread by more mixing at this time of year by the affected groups.

They just thought it was better to “err on the side of caution”.

Ffs, they’ve caused so many people so much worry!

It's the blind leading the blind leading the foolish.

It's a new variant of a new virus - it's fine not to know - but don't pretend things are one way when they're really not.

mibbelucieachwell · 22/05/2021 10:44

Wouldbegood When I was a schoolgirl every winter there would be a really significant fraction of the class off with flu over in December or January. At any one time maybe a quarter or a third of the class.

DS came home in March 2020 with a headache, fatigue and then loss of smell: clearly covid but not known to be until a few weeks later so he didn't isolate from the rest of the household and nobody else in our household got it. (Or if we did, we were asymptomatic) All this talk of covid being so infectious is 😏

I get the impression that the government uses new variants as an excuse to impose restrictions when they said they wouldn't and to frighten people into compliance. It's a pity we have bullies instead of leaders.

Groovee · 22/05/2021 12:13

My smear was clear and I've managed to change my appointment for my 2nd Covid vaccine to tomorrow.

Am going to shower as hibs are laying this afternoon so Mr G having to watch at home.

WouldBeGood · 22/05/2021 15:21

That’s good news @Groovee!

Am I right in thinking that I can change my vaccination appointment to a different location showing on the website rearranging appointment bit and don’t have to stick to my home town?

Scottishskifun · 22/05/2021 16:38

Yep it's whatever it offers you on the website

runningpink · 22/05/2021 16:42

Thanks @Scottishskifun

Bit of a pain to travel but means I get it week and a half sooner and wouldn’t need to take time off work to attend. Think il change it

ScotlandUnited · 22/05/2021 17:04

is there a number or a website you can go to if you are vulnerable but haven't heard about your second jag yet?

ScotlandUnited · 22/05/2021 17:48

thank you!

rookiemere · 22/05/2021 18:54

My poor friend is over 50 but has been lost in the system somewhere so hasn't received her first jab. She really needs it as DPs live an hour or so away and her DM has MS so her DF is really protective about people seeing her and won't let friend without having had at least one vaccine.
She has contacted the helpline and phoned her GP 23 times - someone was meant to get back to her this weekend. I hope she manages to get sorted.
It's worrying how some people seem to have slipped through the net. It's understandable that initial mistakes are made with an operation of this size, but you'd think they'd act quickly if someone was missed out.

titsintiers · 22/05/2021 19:09

After that many phone calls she should be sorted. I'd probably be tweeting and emailing the FM and health secretary.

WouldBeGood · 22/05/2021 19:43

That’s rubbish @rookiemere.

Also a shame as MS is not a factor for increased risk - I know as DP has it snd I was worried at the start. I suppose it might depend if she’s very unwell. But she should have been jagged! That’s well behind

Watched Eurovision last night with my boy, and was so cheered up to see actual live performances and happiness, however crazy.

@shouldistop

I was talking to my mum months ago about jagging prisoners as a priority actually. I agree a cross party approach would have been much better. Have been ordering big ds school uniform, feel a bit emotional about it all. He was only 3 at the start of this pandemic and now he's going to school in a couple of months. How's that happened?!
I'm in the same boat. Its weird. We did consider deferring but I don't think that's the right thing to do for DS.

They have missed out on so much.

runningpink · 23/05/2021 14:18

I got my jag today after managing to swap my appointment. Really hope I don’t get any side effects

Groovee · 23/05/2021 14:51

Just back from my vaccine. Got AZ again. There were 2 halls depending on what dose you were getting. In and out in about 10 minutes.

mondaywine · 23/05/2021 15:08

Has anyone had to take a child with them? My appointment is tomorrow and I have no childcare for DD 11. The hub is 30 minute drive away so I can’t just pop out and leave her at home.

Haudyourwheesht · 23/05/2021 15:20

I've seen in other posts that it's not an issue. The official line is they'd rather you don't take a child but they're not going to turn you away, especially the way things are going.

ElephantOfRisk · 23/05/2021 15:23

Either way @mondaywine, you'll only be in for about 10-15 minutes so she could always sit in the car if it's somewhere with a car park. Obviously can't do that with toddlers but at 11 she'd be fine.

Lockdownbear · 23/05/2021 15:24

I can't imagine it would be an issue to take a child. She'll have to mask up but I really don't think it would be an issue. They are getting into the 40, 30, and 20 age groups they'll have lots of people in the same situation.

A very young child I'd put then in a buggy so they are contained (can't touch anything, or wander off) and if necessary resort to screens.

mondaywine · 23/05/2021 15:28

Thank you. I’d rather not have to as I can appreciate that they don’t want extra people around but I’m a bit out of options unfortunately. She wears a mask everywhere anyway so that’s not an issue. As you say if worst comes to worst I can leave her in the car. Thanks. Just a wee panic.
