Agree with that too @Y0uCann0tBeSer10us we have to apply the same logic.

NotSoLongGoodbye · 21/05/2021 13:55

I will be going to England in July on an 'essential care visit' come what may. My MiL would not cope with us pulling out. She hasn't seen her only GC for a very long time. I will also be seeing other family in the filthy NW enrolee

NotSoLongGoodbye · 21/05/2021 13:55

en-route not enrolee

Groovee · 21/05/2021 13:56

This weather is shite. I'm fed up of the rain. I'm fed up of isolation meaning I have to do everything myself out with the house.

I'm just very grumpy.

Icannever · 21/05/2021 13:58

I’m afraid the weathers no better in England, forecast for the week is pretty sore but we will try and have fun anyway 😊

MyMajesty · 21/05/2021 14:08

I'm meant to be having a holiday with relatives in mid July.
I actually feel like saying I'm not going anywhere ever, then just sitting staring at a wall.....

Things might have improved by then, tho.

ResilienceWanker · 21/05/2021 14:08

Agree the name change is welcome, as long as it applies to all variants (I think WHO recommend not naming illnesses after places anyway - Spanish flu etc- so it fits with that). Though have to say, if they stick with months, I'm not sure we're going to have enough months in a bit! Maybe they should go with names like with storms Grin

Poor Glasgow being "just another week-d" - and hope you do still manage your break umpteenth. But at least Moray and East Ren have been let off. Who'd have thought that in a council area with a small population very few cases would lead to a high "per 100,000" value Hmm Have they just realised that?!

ResilienceWanker · 21/05/2021 14:10

Ahhhh. DH has just found some mulled wine from Christmas in the back of the cupboard. Today could be about to get a little bit more tolerable.

The need for mulled wine at the end of May sums this year up nicelyHmm

Enjoy and there are more open indoor options we have found we only need to book a day in advance this week not sure when half term is though so might need a few days in advance!
WouldBeGood · 21/05/2021 14:50

I think there’s no need to know about variants unless there really truly is a Very Bad one.

So bad that Gerard Butler needs to be in the film about it.

It’s very unhelpful and causes needless panic,

Scottishskifun · 21/05/2021 15:01

Yep it just causes panic!

I do find it bizarre that the indian/April variant is causing panic meanwhile the Yorkshire variant is causing tea and Northern jokes on MN!

According to the zoe app there are cases in Aberdeen might explain the vaccination drop in sessions!

riverrunning · 21/05/2021 15:41

I'm making the Christmas cake kit that I've had in the cupboard since November this weekend - and digging out the mulled wine not drunk at Christmas is a good idea.

Believe a sunny morning is the highlight of this weekend.

mibbelucieachwell · 21/05/2021 16:42

I'm trying not to feel grateful that East Renfrewshire and my local authority which currently has a case rate of more than 50 per100, 000 have been allowed to remain in level 2. Because we've been gaslighted quite enough.

I didn't see the briefing so I don't know how they decide on levels but what is clear now is that it's impossible for people who really need to know what the restrictions will be to look at the data and apply the government's stated indicators to know, in advance of the public pronouncements from on high.

My theory about East Dunbartonshire is that a lot of the cases are in schools. Which is very inconvenient for the government to admit to or to address, especially at the moment.

rookiemere · 21/05/2021 16:54

Can I rail about the fact that I would have thought by the age of 51, I'd have my fashion more appropriately nailed. Nice dress on with trainers - yes I know it's out of date but have you seen the weather - dash of red lipstick and I look like an overweight version of Lily Munster.

Perhaps it's for the best that there are likely to be no holiday snaps this year.

Scottishskifun · 21/05/2021 16:54

@mibbelucieachwell they said it was because they could trace the E Renfrewshire one to a cluster of house outbreaks and in real figures due to the low number in the LA the case numbers are still low although a high percentage per 100,000 - 17 cases in a day compared to over 100 in Glasgow.

I think they are trying their best to stick to their ridiculous table levels to show us all they were right in their approach when reality of the stricter levels is more ping pong potential between them which is obviously bad for economy!

titsintiers · 21/05/2021 16:58

What's wrong with Lily Munster @rookiemere?

I don't think anyone has a sense of their own style anymore. Too much time in loungewear and not enough getting out and about.

shouldistop · 21/05/2021 17:22

@rookiemere are dresses and trainers out of date?! Damn.

riverrunning · 21/05/2021 18:12

I did the school run in the week in a dress and trainers and I forgot to shave my legs.
That was my - oh no, I've gotten too comfy moment!

Hard to justify nice footwear with all the unending rain!

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 21/05/2021 18:14

I'm railing about surge testing in my area 😤 thing is when you go onto the interactive map we are completely white. No school isolations locally. Really fucking random. No wonder case numbers are bloody up.

Haudyourwheesht · 21/05/2021 18:31

When I had the kids swimming last week I was walking round the pool with my (painfully slow) 1 year old and I glanced down and just saw a patch of what can only be described as bristles on my left calf. Oops. Must have missed a bit. Blush
riverrunning · 21/05/2021 18:35

That is so easily done, especially if shaving in the shower!

Christinayangtwistedsister · 21/05/2021 19:16

I only bought one bar of Aldi caramel chocolate

titsintiers · 21/05/2021 20:54

Well that was poor planning @Christinayangtwistedsister ( love Christina Yang btw)

Christinayangtwistedsister · 21/05/2021 21:07

She would never have only bought one! So do I, she one of my favourite characters
