Is a hypocrite.

Boris will be 'picking a fight with the democratic wishes of the Scottish people' and ' the only people that can decide the future of Scotland are the Scottish people'

Forgive me if i'm being stupid but didn't we already have a vote on independence, how did that go. Oh that's right......not how NS wanted so she ignores the democratic wishes of the Scottish people and pushes for Indy 2.

Laughable how she comes out with this stuff.

Thanks for sharing the article but it only references the UK which we will no longer be part of. My question is specifically around what is the Scottish government doing to create jobs in Scotland to mitigate those lost due to independence?

Sadly whilst having witnessed the brilliant work of those in social care, they fall within the public sector and we need private sector investment to fund these and the many others in this area. Or much much higher taxes. Unless I have missed the plan for job creation.

Once again Unionists come top of the league for bullying

reprehensibleme · 13/05/2021 11:14

Selkies, sorry, if that comment was to me, the Guardian article was in response to Starry's request for stuff the UK Westminster govt is doing to create jobs.

SixesAndEights · 13/05/2021 11:15

The word 'could' is doing some heavy lifting there @reprehensibleme

So you don't think it's important that voters get information that's correct in order to make an informed choice? You don't think it's important that bullshit is shown up for what it is?

I see the word plan and the word propose, that's not quite 'doing'.
Selkiesarereal · 13/05/2021 11:20

Yes reprehensible, sorry should have quoted!

I really want to know this as it’s hugely important but none of those supporting independence has been able to answer this which I find worrying for those left behind.

Sadly I will be off to England as my husbands job will move and that’s the point I am trying to make. We all know that there will be some jobs which will move automatically. Now I don’t want to move which is why I want to know what has the Scottish government actually done to mitigate against these but to no avail.

I don't think it's bullying pointing out the very valid questions that people have about jobs, their pensions and affordability.

Independence at any cost isn't a great prospect for many people it's right to have a conversation about these questions and challenge answers if they don't add up.

Yes nobody has a crystal ball but you can't ignore these significant aspects!

reprehensibleme · 13/05/2021 11:31

But at least there appears to be a plan......... Even if it falls short, there is a plan for job creation. Starry asked what were WM govt doing, and a quick search showed they are doing something.

Graffitiqueen · 13/05/2021 11:46

And I do find it interesting that it's only unionists that are pulled up for their style of posting. Hmm saying "for the hard of understanding" and "half a brain cell" only allowed from one side of the debate..

Selkiesarereal · 13/05/2021 12:44

I had “hilarious “ thrown at me when continually asking for an answer to the same question. Still unsure what was hilarious in my post and still no answer.

Also not sure if I’m being accused of bullying when trying to get said an answer to said question!

Spasiba · 13/05/2021 12:54

@Maria53
I said I hope there is another referendum. Presumably you agree.
I said I hope SNP win.
Presumably you agree.
I said it's high time we stopped subsidising Scotland.
Presumably you agree.
I'm glad we're on the same pageSmile

reprehensibleme · 13/05/2021 13:29

And of course there is HS2, whether you agree with it or not - just been watching the machine starting the tunnelling under the Chilterns - what a phenomenal piece of kit Florence is! Supposed to be in excess of 30k jobs on the project.

ElephantOfRisk · 13/05/2021 13:55

I find the Brexit reaction interesting. SNP have gone the route of Brexit bad and we must re-join (yes I know...) but in theory, a successful Brexit could have been a thing for them to celebrate showing that you can break away form a bigger group and do well, or on the other hand if Brexit failed, then maybe leaving a bigger group isn't a good thing. As a consequence they aren't saying too much (that I've noticed) as it's a difficult one for them to play.

In the meantime, despite it being used as a means for another referendum, nothing has really changed in terms of polls for independence or in voting for Indy parties so in reality, people don't seem to be caring in any significantly different way.

And that's before we discuss that UK was a net contributor to the EU and Scotland is a net receiver from the UK.

charliebrown59 · 13/05/2021 14:43

I hate HS2 personally, awful sacrilege of ancient woodland but the idea that Scotland's share of that covers much of the additional money iScotland would need to find in perpetuity has been debunked many times.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 13/05/2021 15:20

@Torvean

I was trying to discuss the election with a SNP voter. She ended up quite aggressive. Told me I couldn't support women's rights as I support the union, and that's ran by a man. Apparently all ppl against SNP are obsessed with NS. The self-ID issue is of no priority. I couldn't really be Scottish if after the pandemic I didn't vote Covid etc etc

I asked her enquire Qs. She couldn't answer one. I ended up telling her to watch her tone.

The year NS got in she promised to abolish council tax.... not done. I'll try to attach a picture showing different scenarios and possible debt.

Today in things that never happened

I have seen a local Yes hub which promises all the answers to these questions. I plan to pop in over the next few days and shall report.
