He took his trunky to the door and asked if we could go now (he's 2!)❤️

Aww, I remember the trunky phase, DS took his everywhere despite the fact they really don’t have much room inside for any meaningful packing 🤣 and how freely we took overnight trips then, without a second thought or having the stress of wondering if it will actually happen/we’ll be allowed🙈

So glad the trunky will be heading somewhere today @Scottishskifun have a lovely time with your family.

ssd · 17/05/2021 08:23

My 2 loved the softplay as well and i liked the chance of a seat and maybe a cake Grin

Scottishskifun · 17/05/2021 09:16

@Bytheloch 😂 Yep the trunky contained all his important packing..... 2 gruffulo books, 5 bunnies and a bag of dinosaurs! All the vital things needed for a holiday apparently!

He's very excited this morning!
DH and I are looking forward to family but also getting some more rest as GPs happily look after DS!

Just saw this about vaccinations in Glasgow being speeded up.

The End is CerTEIRnly in Sight ...
ssd · 17/05/2021 10:21

Thats great news, thanks

Scottishskifun · 17/05/2021 10:37

Brilliant news for Glasgow can't help but think if they hadn't done the letter system and it was a text alert they could reach people a lot quicker to do it though!

Letters in English only. When they have identified that there is a huge language/cultural barrier to understanding about vaccination.
Scottishskifun · 17/05/2021 10:44

@RaspberryCoulis yep! Mine had a little slip in it with various different languages which I presume is a way to get it in several different languages but all the info about the vaccine and the letter are in English.

When I called I was asked if I was happy continuing in English so fingers crossed they have learnt and are addressing it. I hope high take up happens!

RaspberryCoulis · 17/05/2021 10:49

I'm sure the vaccine info is available in loads of languages. But sending the letter out in english with a slip requires you to proactively go looking for information to find out what it's all about.

And if you're not that interested, suspicious of any official government communication, or hesitant are you going to bother?

hilbil21 · 17/05/2021 11:02

@Scottishskifun I've just phoned a soft play local to where we are going at the end of the month and booked in my 6 year old. Mad world we are living in but hey ho. My son is autistic and he absolutely loves the soft plays up here so he's going to be over the moon lol.

Awww yay!
I found the booking process although a pain actually a really good thing as numbers were limited so they get more play time less waiting! Ball pits have all gone but I'm sure your DS will have a absolute blast!

It made me quite emotional last year to see DS doing something "normal" just feel sorry for the softplay businesses in Scotland which have been shut for 14 months now and still no firm date for opening! 😔

ssd · 17/05/2021 11:12

I hadnt thought of the implications of vaccine letters in English. Massive clanger there. And still no booking system online for us here ..

EvilOnion · 17/05/2021 11:56

I can't speak for Glasgow but when the Moray acceleration started employers were asked to pass details on to the vaccine centres and those who had interaction with the public at work were contacted as priority.

Most here got a phone call within 24 hours with an appointment within 48, letters were sent to those with less risk of transmission and there were walk in slots for anyone between 18 and 39.

ssd · 17/05/2021 12:08

Sounds sensible

That's really good to hear. I think it's very easy to rail against the government seemingly not being reactive or dynamic enough, but I guess we can't see the whole picture unless we're in an area that's being targeted.

If I had a hospitality business in Glasgow I’d be beyond fucked off

They are!

""It's a terrible situation to be in with a £1m-a-day bar bill being foisted upon the city because of wasted stock, staff coming off furlough, preparation - it's a total disgrace.
Cases go up but mortality rates don't, hospital admissions don't and yet we are locked down. There is no run on the NHS. We should not be shutting down an economy, a whole city.
Many are going to go out of business.""

Absolutely @Y0uCann0tBeSer10us

And no evidence of spread in hospitality at any point ever.

My heart goes out to them.

They did text people. My (under 30) friend got a text. They have also made information available in a number of languages. Whether people will act on it or not is a different issue. We went out of Glasgow today. We had something booked (before 4.45 on Friday) so feck it. I've had my first vaccination and have been doing regular tests. Even my previously rules-abiding DH (2x vaccinated) is saying feck it now. They've made very little attempt to get on top of the Glasgow situation up until now and I refuse to keep paying the price.

It's not even that - it's people who haven't worked for months getting geared up to go back, see folk again, get into routines again, and now it's cancelled. That must be hellish for folk's mental health. Work isn't just about earning money.

WouldBeGood · 17/05/2021 15:39

Totally, @Haudyourwheesht

Exactly this

My husband left his work (restaurant) on Friday afternoon as they were quiet as everyone was looking to come in this week. He was all prepared and so excited at his first proper full week at work in months beckoning. By the time he got home at 5pm ish NS had ripped it all away. When I told him he literally deflated before my eyes.

Vile woman, showing her true colours once she’s got the votes of the brainwashed in the bag.
