I feel really sorry for those poor folks in Moray.

Yeah she's really just legalised what we're doing anyway - i'm not a cinema/gig/pub type person.

GoldenOmber · 11/05/2021 13:16

@ssd

I posted above about my friends comment as i dont know what to make of it.
This is your friend who works for the NHS and is planning for another lockdown in September?

NHS will be doing scenario planning, ‘if we are back in that situation again how will we manage surge capacity/PPE supplies/staffing’ type of conversations. So they will be planning in that sense.

They do not have privileged information about whether or not there’s going to be another lockdown, in September or any other time. Nobody knows that.

I was working on some related planning stuff last year, with fairly senior NHS involved, and it was so so hard to do because we had NO IDEA whether we’d have a second/third/fourth/tenth wave or when that would be or how bad it would be. At the same time, there were apparently people who ‘worked for the NHS’ or ‘worked in government’ or ‘worked in a funeral parlour’ etc etc etc coming out to say that they had been told this really specific stuff about another wave or another lockdown. They hadn’t. Or if they had, they were told it by managers/colleagues who didn’t actually know either. I think some of them were genuinely mistaken based on scenario planning and some were just shit-stirrers who liked the drama.

WouldBeGood · 11/05/2021 13:16

I am!! Can’t wait to carouse without hypothermia😂

And go to the pictures with my boy.

I do think it’s shite about Moray. She said before we’d all be the same. Awful for their holiday industry too. I won’t be going there now.

ScotlandUnited · 11/05/2021 13:18

Why are Moray cases so high?

(and why hasn't it spread yet outwith Moray?)

Mistressinthetulips · 11/05/2021 13:20

I'm pleased with the changes today. Looking forward to have my friend to stay.
I want school masks to stay until we are through the nonexam period. I worry about being off work and not being able to make the grade judgements for my pupils. I wouldn't want the students to be off either, but my absence (or any of their teachers) would affect more of them tbh.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 11/05/2021 13:22

@ScotlandUnited she said there was widespread community transmission, so I guess it's just in lots of houses, workplaces, schools, etc now. Not one centralised outbreak, which would be easier to control.

WouldBeGood · 11/05/2021 13:22

I just want all masks to go.

But all in all, better than I thought.

I did suspect some reward for being good and returning her 😃

Oh, and we are getting the travel traffic light system as per England

*though obviously prepare for staycation

OP posts:
rookiemere · 11/05/2021 13:36

Oh yay it all seems pretty good and it looks like following the UK wide list for traveling which is much more sensible than having our own home grown version.

My cousin works in a health related capacity in England and was talking about possible further lockdowns in Winter. I'm refusing to think about it and/or using it as a reason to do all the socialising and holidaying I can whilst allowed.

ScotlandUnited · 11/05/2021 13:45

If England are to use the NHS booking app to prove vaccination and we don't have such an app, then there will be differences between the evidence of vaccination we are showing when travelling abroad and won't that confuse foreign border officials?

riverrunning · 11/05/2021 13:54

Well, we'll feel as though we've had a lottery win if we do manage to get away this summer/autumn!

So we can at look forward to that feeling!

Scottishskifun · 11/05/2021 15:23

@ScotlandUnited

Why are Moray cases so high?

(and why hasn't it spread yet outwith Moray?)

A lot of it is school based and although not a workplace etc its mostly concentrated around Elgin area. It hasn't spread to Aberdeenshire or Inverness area probably because Moray has its own large town set ups, hospital, super markets etc so less commuting. Friends which do live in Moray and commute the offices are shut. Also worth putting into context although the rate per 100,000 is high case numbers are around 200 in over 2 weeks.

It's also quite spread out county but they have known about the cases so think many are on a batton down the hatches type mentality to get it under control.

ssd · 11/05/2021 17:54

@Scottishskifun, that's not so good..
Are you still off work?.

Scottishskifun · 11/05/2021 18:08

@ssd yes still off work can only manage short bursts but trying to build up time and activities etc. It's a bit of a slow frustrating process! Thankfully I have a good employer with sick pay.

It's so frustrating that you're basically left to fend for yourself and the information is very much told to search for things..... Well when you're suffering from fatigue trying to reading articles takes a lot out of you!

WouldBeGood · 11/05/2021 18:10

@Scottishskifun what you need is an old school recovery in a sanitarium on the Riviera, like people did in the days of TB. 😃

Fresh warm air, sun, good food and rest!

😂 That sounds like utter bliss!

I try not to over do it but at mid 30s it's hard to then switch to a 80 year old person's approach to walking, filling the day etc!

We all need that @WouldBeGood, I'd be happy to set off tomorrow

Scotsnet Sanitorium?

Yes, @Scottishskifun it is rubbish, but only by resting will you get better.

My advice as an old woman 😃

Always liked the sound of sanatorium in Enid Blyton boarding school stories. Instead of a kindly but stern matron can we have a mixologist who specialises in enervating combinations , please?

WouldBeGood · 11/05/2021 18:42

@Lidlfix now that sounds good!

Scotsnet Sanitorium?
Yes! With no political bickering, I've pure had it recently Grin
WouldBeGood · 11/05/2021 18:43

No political chat allowed as it might hinder recovery 😃

Cocktail sipping outside whilst gazing over the Med.
