That vaccine data is fantastic. Thank god for scientists.

WouldBeGood · 10/05/2021 18:08

It’s brilliant, isn’t it @ssd?

Groovee · 10/05/2021 18:10

We were talking at work about masks today. Saw the TES post saying Boris has said no masks in schools from next week x

ssd · 10/05/2021 18:11

Everything still feels shite right enough. The town is so weird, folk in coats and hats sitting in Buchanan st in the cold and rain, just to get a drink with a meal. Strange times. Loads of shops closed for good, princes sq like the marie celeste. Awful. And me wearing a mask for 8 hrs at work in an over hot, stuffy shop. Kids have to book the pub, no chance of a nightclub for them yet. Its still shit really.

ssd · 10/05/2021 18:11

@WouldBeGood

It’s brilliant, isn’t it *@ssd*?
Sorry for above post being gloomy. But yes, vaccines are brilliant.
WouldBeGood · 10/05/2021 18:29

It is still shit @ssd I quite agree. I’m fed up.

But @Groovee happy days with no masks in schools! Hope we follow. Can’t bin the bloody things fast enough for me.

WouldBeGood · 10/05/2021 18:29

Did Mr@Groovee get on ok?

OP posts:
Haudyourwheesht · 10/05/2021 19:05

I'm desperate to lose the masks in schools. I'd even put up with them in the corridors if we could stop wearing them in the classroom. It's hard to be understood, to understand what kids are saying to me, to smile, and that's ever without the endless battle to get them to wear theirs.

WouldBeGood · 10/05/2021 19:25

It must be really difficult @Haudyourwheesht

@WouldBeGood

Great news on the vaccines. Pfizer data shows risk of death cut by 97% after two doses. Both it and AZ 80% after one dose. AZ two dose data to follow.

No reason for continued restrictions now.

Restrictions need to continue until all adults are vaccinated. But definitely not beyond that. Many areas are still only doing 45+
WouldBeGood · 10/05/2021 19:37

I don’t agree as there’s so little risk to younger adults.

OP posts:
Mistressinthetulips · 10/05/2021 21:41

I don't think many people in early 40s consider themselves as "younger adults" though and are still unvaccinated - first dose never mind second. And antibodies/protection doesn't come instantly with vaccination either.
I neither want to be sick nor for us to have to return to greater restrictions so my rail is against doing too much too soon without a bit of analysis of data after each set of changes.

WouldBeGood · 10/05/2021 21:44

Fair enough @Mistressinthetulips

I’m pretty cavalier as I believe restrictions should only be an absolute last resort to keep health services functioning which is clearly the case and has been for months.

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 10/05/2021 21:45

By younger, I mean under 65 really, as they were the sector at risk

OP posts:
Spectrumofhumanlife · 10/05/2021 21:50

Ooh just found this thread!
@Mistressinthetulips I’m early 40’s and consider myself a ‘younger adult’ thanks! I’m low risk, happy for things to open up fully before I have my vaccine. Why would I want everyone else suffering for the very remote chance I might have a severe case?
So pleased about masks in schools.

Mistressinthetulips · 10/05/2021 22:21

We can open up with mitigations.

shouldistop · 10/05/2021 22:22

Does anyone know if music will be allowed in pubs when they open?

WouldBeGood · 10/05/2021 22:33

@shouldistop I hope you’re not planning to enjoy yourself..?!

I think I’m right in saying though that music is no longer banned....

I'm kinda in 2 minds into week 6 of covid recovery in mid 30s.
I don't think it should be stop all restrictions tomorrow and back to crowds of 20,000 plus people etc. But at the same time SG has said they will follow the data..... Except they aren't as many areas just not the central belt has been low for a very long time now so they aren't following the data at all! They should simply say we are holding everyone to what happens in these areas.....

The restrictions are also so contradictory in places and treat people like children you can have a coffee with your friend in a cafe but your not to be trusted in your own home....... 🙄
They have shown ventilation is the biggest risk factor rather than the obsession of every surface wiped down a million times but they don't convey that properly and give people the information they need. Instead they scare monger.

It's right to learn to live with this now and yes it's a horrible but also very random illness! But the general immunity is high and Moray is a prime example of actually why you do want a bit of natural covid immunity in the population alongside vaccinations

shouldistop · 10/05/2021 22:36

I'm hoping too! Wasn't going to bother if the pubs had to be silent but will look into it now.

Any idea what level kids birthday parties are allowed? We were lucky with the weather last year and hired a bouncy castle for the garden but I don't fancy our chances 2 years in a row.

Not for ages...... They seem to have closed that loophole by saying indoors children under 12 don't count in numbers but do count in household max numbers..... 🙄 So I think level 0 end of June is max 4 households indoors in Scotland.

Going to start seeing the big differences between England and Scotland when end of June hits!

shouldistop · 10/05/2021 22:52

Fucking joke isn't it. And this is what people have voted for Hmm
I suppose my only option is to do a garden party again and hope for the best. I don't imagine the people I'm inviting will care about the number of people in my garden.

"It's shite being scottish"

Lockdownbear · 11/05/2021 07:56

I wouldn't have said 40s are young, 40s women are actually at high risk of long covid.
I know one 40 year old lady who has suffered since early March last year, 3 young kids and still unable to return to work. And I know of another who's even younger without kids who's still suffering.

That's scary.

We have come this far we might as well hang off until all adults are protected. And that should hopefully protect kids too if adults aren't spreading it.

WouldBeGood · 11/05/2021 08:03

Fair enough to your rail @Lockdownbear.

I’ve had enough now, and anything other than collapse of health services is insufficient for these restrictions in my view. I found an old Facebook post of mine and can see that I’ve been railing on this for a year now, so it’s not surprising I’m fucked off and knackered 😂

On a more positive note, I’ve booked in to actual indoor gym classes for next week. Best get fit for my summer hols in the Falklands!

I am really concerned about the return of students, including international students, in September and people starting to return to offices. I think we might see a move back up the tiers in September and October.
