I’m always telling the kids I look after to stop the forced screeching on the trampoline. The noise goes right through me never mind the neighbours. (Whole street is full of kids so there wouldn’t be complaints but it’s annoying)
The kids next door sit on top of the climbing frame and peer into garden asking a million questions!

I’m feeling rotten from the meds, going to be a day sat in the garden trying to keep my brain occupied as it’s in overdrive. I hope the side effects ease off fast.

@StatisticallyChallenged were you speaking to your GP yesterday? Were they able to offer anything to help you recover?

Taking of the park reminded me of this...
Was pushing a friends kid on swing in park last week and a father/son came along to use the second swing. The dad made a big thing about making sure his kid was facing opposite way to mine so we were apart.
It wouldn’t have crossed my mind to do this. Is this the new park covid etiquette that iv missed from being off work?!

shouldistop · 24/04/2021 11:46

Thanks for your kind words the other day guys. Feeling good today too, getting my hair done this morning & couple of friends round to the garden this afternoon.
The past 2 days the baby has had a monster nap in the morning which has made me feel less frazzled and strung out. And I've booked swimming for next week.
Have missed most of the thread the past couple of days so will have a look through now

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 24/04/2021 12:03

You can go anywhere you like, for reasons such as exercise, aka a walk after you've parked the car.

On the other hand, our neighbours have been away for the last 2 days... But they always had exemption from the Roolz anyway. Apparently.

Haudyourwheesht · 24/04/2021 20:55

@runningpink It would never occur to me to position myself in a particular way in the park to remain 'covid - safe'. As Mummy Pig says, 'the only rule in the playground is: everybody waits their turn'.

rookiemere · 25/04/2021 08:46

Our nephew from England will be staying over next weekend in the house. Genuinely forgot about the covid rules until it was organised as originally DH was planning to go away - without the dog that he said would always go away with him - but they couldn't get anywhere booked.

I do feel slightly bad, but doubt neighbours will report as the ones at the back had a party for 10 for their DSs 16th in the last lockdown, the ones opposite have had sleepovers for their DS, the alleged sticklers for the rules who normally we like have had their grown up DS and his GF staying in March. Gosh I used to think we were a law abiding neighbourhood.

More of a concern is changing my study back into a visitor bedroom. I'm being a bit hardline about making DH get it ready as the leaving his dog behind has alerted me to much taking for granted, but as he is busy on an unnecessary garden project nephew may end up with used sheets ( I'll crack before then don't worry).

Good to be back to the old arguments, I suppose.

WouldBeGood · 25/04/2021 09:09

@shouldistop glad things looking up a bit! I’m getting my hair done on Wednesday and am very much looking forward to it.

@runningpink that’s nuts about the park. Thank god I don’t have to contend with that!

@rookiemere it will be lovely to have a visitor. Hope your DH gets it organised. Most frustrating!

@Groovee hope you and Mr G doing ok and that you’ve had some rest.

Going to have a lazy day. Tomorrow is scaring me as I have much exercise: both of my classes start again and the thought is terrifying as I’m so fat and unfit again - aargh!

OP posts:
Mistressinthetulips · 25/04/2021 10:05

I think two exercise classes in one day is very brave!
I'm moaning this morning as trying to organise a decent birthday for child about to turn 9 - last year's we made as good as possible though obviously was entirely at home; hoping to make this year a bit more exciting but have to sort through far more in terms of what will actually be open, can be go with friends, will they be willing to come in my car etc. (Bit relieved to be honest that a full class party is out of the picture!)

WouldBeGood · 25/04/2021 20:00

@Mistressinthetulips I’m actually terrified now .. contemplating just sinking into old age and fatness and staying under the duvet!
Hope you got some party ideas sorted.

runningpink re your swings dad. Wouldn't it be less of a risk to face in the same direction?

BettysCardigan · 26/04/2021 09:05

@runningpink that dad sounds, er, a bit overzealous! Literally wouldn't cross my mind. Little kids haven't had to distance for the best part of a year now.

DeepfriedPizza · 26/04/2021 09:07

I have seen the headlines already of the likes of "shoppers queue from 4.30 am for Primark" then all the bashers on facebook demonizing them.

Is anyone going out to commit any perfectly legal and legitimate shopping crimes today?

I finish in my job on Friday (redundancy) so will be doing the rounds of charity shops and other shops next week.

WouldBeGood · 26/04/2021 10:04

Day off to a bad start as I was refused my first gym hour as I wouldn’t scan the app.

They have my details, so I’m not being wide!

Aaargh. It’s sorted now as they’ve apologised but I hate all this stuff. I’d had to really psych myself up to go as was feeling so fat and old and hopeless and now feeling all that plus a bit shaky. Time for a soothing cup of tea.

OP posts:
DeepfriedPizza · 26/04/2021 10:09

So I take it all your contact details are attached to your membership and they should know already who is in and out the gym anyway? Were they asking you to do the tracing app too?

Coquohvan · 26/04/2021 10:09

Me @DeepfriedPizza travelling today to England for our lakes break, will stop off at Gretna Outlet 😜
Hope you find something soon.

DeepfriedPizza · 26/04/2021 10:15

Love an outlet village. I want to go to Cheshire oaks soon

WouldBeGood · 26/04/2021 10:32

And now my gig rescheduled to thus November from last November has been moved to 2022.

It’s just never fucking ending

Is that the Check In Scotland app? It's not been very widely advertised (mind you I'm not on facebook) but I did see a tweet from Jason Leitch about it.

riverrunning · 26/04/2021 10:43

If I'd been off work I'd be in the shops - saving that for next week as the week of holiday I've booked is forecast for endless drizzle and cold. Good shopping weather!

What app is this? would I've never heard of it!

WouldBeGood · 26/04/2021 11:30

This is it @LizzieMacQueen a check in thing

I'm taking DS to Waterstones after school - with Christmas and his birthday he has loads of vouchers and is desperate for some new books. DD wants to go to Primark but I've said let's leave that until later in the week.

rookiemere · 26/04/2021 12:23

@WouldBeGood at least your concert has been rescheduled. Still waiting for an update on concert in Dublin in June 2021, rescheduled from 2021.
Last time they confirmed the new date about two weeks in advance of when it was meant to be. Question is do we book flights for 2022 when we do get new dates - feel it's impossible to know at this stage if it will be possible.
Not going anywhere shop wise. To be honest all the shops I go to were already open apart from maybe Hotel Chocolat and I desperately need to get out of my evening chocolate scoffing if there's any danger we'll actually make it to Majorca in August- if it's the fallback Oban then I guess it matters less if I resemble a whale myself.

LizzieMacQueen · 26/04/2021 12:44

@WouldBeGood Yes. That's the Scot Gov one. i've downloaded it though I suspect my old phone will reject the next ios upgrade.

WouldBeGood · 26/04/2021 12:48

This isn’t an app as such just a check in. But I’m not doing it.

I suppose @rookiemere but it’s a long time away and DP is sixty with MS 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm not bothered about shops but got a late lunch booked for Saturday.

Just wanted to say @wouldbegood, I know everyone is different, but I worked with a bloke in the early 90s who was in his early 40s with MS, he'd had it for a few years by then and had intermittent issues. By 2000 I think he had some ankle splints to help support his walking. I still follow him on Fb he's nearly 70, still flying out to Vegas (not last year clearly) and walking with just a stick. Hope you DP has many years of good mobility ahead but I understand the frustration and anger.
