@riverrunning Did your hairdresser not have a loo? Or were there no supermarkets? We brazenly use Morrison's loos, or Aldi, when out and about. Even popped into M&S the other day. I'd happily grab something while in there if challenged, but I never have been.

riverrunning · 17/04/2021 20:10

Ah I thought the hair dressers was probably not allowed too - no supermarkets near there!

shouldistop · 18/04/2021 14:36

Railing about lack of sleep again I had Friday night off though and slept 8 hours solid which was good.
Big ds and dh went for a 6 mile hill walk this morning so just letting him have his iPad this afternoon, baby ds is napping next to me on the bed and dh about to watch the football.
At least my nails are pretty getting my hair done on Saturday too thank god.

@riverrunning my hairdresser lets us use the toilets, don't know if it's allowed or not, she just has a sign up reminding to wash hands and I've seen the junior go into clean etc.

shouldistop · 18/04/2021 14:37

@Groovee that's rotten for your ds. I spent my 18th in America and was slightly annoyed I couldn't buy a drink. Your ds must be so annoyed!

Haudyourwheesht · 18/04/2021 15:16

Yes, my hairdresser's loo was open, big city centre salon. I didn't use it, so not sure if there were any restrictions.

rookiemere · 18/04/2021 15:31

We've had a good weekend- lovely day out to North Berwick on Friday meeting friends, afternoon drinking with neighbours outside yesterday- although bad nights sleep as a result and a pleasant walk in Peebles today.

However am putting off phoning DPs.

Now that restrictions are being eased DF will be chomping at the bit to come and stay with us, but DM doesn't think he should be driving on the motorway anymore . I've offered to drive and pick them up ( it's an hour each way) but DF thought this was ludicrous. Then even if they do make it here DM is refusing to go out anywhere due to new variants even though twice jabbed, so no trips to the garden centre or out to the carvery to break things up.

I should bite the bullet and check the calendar and get them up here once overnight visits are allowed. I know it's the right thing to do.

runningpink · 18/04/2021 16:32

My rail today is it looks like I won’t be able to continue my classes when they are allowed back properly. Everyone wants mornings or early evening which I can’t make due to work.
Absolutely gutted, as was relying on being able to have something to get me out the house and for company two evenings a week.
It will probably only be one block (but adding in summer holidays it will be 3 months 😢) and the hope of later class after summer but just feels like another thing covid has taken away.

WouldBeGood · 18/04/2021 20:38

It’s all rubbish.

I’m railing at the prospect raised of no foreign travel til next year. We have effective vaccines, this is getting out of hand. It’s making me panic that the rest of my life will be locked up.

Depressing af.

dancemom · 18/04/2021 20:58

Does anyone else think things will never be normal again?

WouldBeGood · 18/04/2021 20:59

I’m beginning to wonder @dancemom.

I really don’t understand why people are putting up with this now

@wouldbegood I'm sorry you're missing travel but other countries don't want UK visitors anyway.
WouldBeGood · 18/04/2021 21:07

@StarryEyeSurprise guilt free railing here, remember?

OP posts:
titsintiers · 18/04/2021 21:07

Wtf does that matter @StarryEyeSurprise?

Scottishskifun · 18/04/2021 21:10

Foreign travel is so difficult as we definitely can go backwards very quickly and so far the UK is bucking the trend that the rest of Europe is currently in.

Personally I would sacrifice it for the rest of the year if it means that we get stuff open and back to near normal as possible and not face another lock down.

The worry is that even with the vaccination some of the variants can route around them and while they are working on updating them it's going to Autumn til they are deployed.

I would love to get away but if my son can keep going to nursery, get back to his swimming lessons and see his grandparents in England is more important personally.

We have booked several trips around Scotland and visiting England. Going to make the most out of our summer unlike last year and we are taking the campervan on as many weekend trips away.

shouldistop · 18/04/2021 21:10

Doesn't mean people can't be upset / disappointed by it though

Scottishskifun · 18/04/2021 21:12

@WouldBeGood I definitely am missing them though and yep I do just want to hop on a plane!

Groovee · 18/04/2021 21:19

I can't book anything as Dh is unpredictable as we have seen the last 13 weeks. I wish I had something to look forward to.

StarryEyeSurprise · 18/04/2021 21:25

Of course people can miss travel. Hence why I said - 'sorry you're missing travel'.

'I really don't know why people are putting up with this now' - well, other governments don't want us visiting and we're at a crossroads where we either experience a third wave like Europe or we manage to keep cases and deaths lower than they have been. Yes, we may wish to roll the dice but the decisions been taken out of our hands , by home and foreign governments.

Anyway, I hadn't actually realised I was replying on the railing thread so I'll scoot off. Wink

WouldBeGood · 18/04/2021 21:27

I think I’m just at a different life stage, and don’t have unlimited time in the future for travel, especially with DPs condition. This was to have been our time, after years of unhappiness. It’s scary to think this is it for us.

Thanks @WouldBeGood, my father lives in Africa. I wonder if I'll ever see him again

Scottishskifun · 18/04/2021 21:41

Seychelles are accepting tourists if they have been vaccinated and you can quarantine in a 5* beach hotel.....
Might be a good option for you @woodbegood but you would have to fly via London once they allow Smile

WouldBeGood · 18/04/2021 21:41

Oh @titsintiers that’s so hard. Have an awkward hug (those are all I can do even in normal times)
