Under 50's vaccines

Does anyone know what's happening up here for the age groups under 50 (who don't fall into the carers / underlying health conditions etc that have already been done)?
I read that NHS England weren't planning to start them before May due to supply issues and to enable them to keep up with second doses but I haven't seen anything relating to Scotland. The BBC website just has all age groups under 50 defined as "by the end of July". The omni queue calculator reckons first dose for age 40+ between 10th & 19th April but I suspect that's fake news.
Has anyone under 50 had an invite yet??
I'm getting impatient now!!

Also, we didn’t receive a letter. Phone call asking us to come along the following day.

@maldivemoment

Hi folks

Hope you don’t mind me jumping in? Husband & I both got ours on Thursday. I’m 45, husband 46.
Argyll & Bute.

I think we have a winner!! FlowersStar

@Callisto1 the 38% of over 40's who've been vaccinated with predominantly be those with underlying health conditions and those who got one through their job e.g. NHS staff, social workers, carers etc. Plus a smaller number in areas who are ahead of the game which seems to mostly be the island communities where they've done everyone in one sitting (which makes sense!).

Although we’re Argyll & Bute we’re not on an island. Actually fairly close to the big smoke!

maldivemoment · 19/04/2021 10:56

I’m a teacher so delighted to have had it (although side effects not too pleasant)

I'm surprised you got called as Argyll and Bute are only at 88.6% of 50-54 age group. Had you put in to be contacted if there were spares?
maldivemoment · 19/04/2021 13:23

demented no, just got a call out of the blue! Didn’t even know you could request to be contacted if there were spares.

Littlemissweepy · 19/04/2021 20:31

Not got mine yet but spotted this on BBC, NI now inviting the under 40s. Seems like a better system than we have here.

Flossy05 · 19/04/2021 22:30

Have just seen this too. I thought that the issue for over 45s was supply but it can’t be the case as NI and England seem to be getting on with it. Not sure about Wales.
I wonder what the issue is in Scotland. I am in Forth Valley and apparently they have done the over 50s so I wonder what they are waiting for.

dementedpixie · 19/04/2021 22:34

Forth Valley is at 91.7% of 50-55 according to the link I posted earlier

Flossy05 · 19/04/2021 23:11

Ok- so pretty much done then. Anybody know what the target is for any age group?

dementedpixie · 19/04/2021 23:14

Don't know but lanarkshire is at 95% and I've not had my letter yet

Flossy05 · 19/04/2021 23:59

I guess we just have to be patient. They did say last week that letters would start to come soon.

Icannever · 20/04/2021 06:58

It’s hard to be patient when people younger than you in every other part of the U.K. are getting their vaccinations and still no sign of letters in Scotland.

Icannever · 20/04/2021 07:00

Also Fife nhs posted at the very beginning of April to say they were finished the top nine priority groups so they would be taking a break for a couple of weeks to regroup/reorganise 😳

ChrisQuean · 20/04/2021 08:21

It’s hard to be patient when communication is zero from NHS in Scotland on potential dates. It’s also extremely disempowering when you have to sit and wait and others can book. I have dozens of friends in England in the 45-49 age group who were jabbed this week and last. My sister (41) and her DH (47) in Bristol were called a month ago.

pawsbaws · 20/04/2021 09:02

Just 3000 first jags yesterday. Patience will be needed I think.

ParkheadParadise · 20/04/2021 10:32

I received my letter this morning. My first vaccine is in the 27th April. No letter for DH.

emmathedilemma · 20/04/2021 10:35

woohooo @ParkheadParadise!!

Taking a break?!!

ChrisQuean · 20/04/2021 10:47

What I don’t understand is the mismatch between England and Scotland. We are allocated (per capita) the same amount of vaccines at the same time. Last week England announces booking is open to 45-49 and has been going hell for leather with 1st doses (if my Whatsapp is anything to go by), so their vaccine supply is sufficient to do that.

Scotland also announces last week it will call the 45-49 cohort and.... deafening silence. Only 3000 first doses yesterday, presumably in the older age groups. The supply must be there if Scotland announced (and if Westminster hadn’t supplied Scotland we’d damn well hear about it! Smile )

In public health, getting 1st jags in arms is critical - more critical, at this stage -than going back to track down the very small number not done in other cohorts when the offer is still there. Meanwhile, we’re waiting with our sleeves rolled up.

I’ve been broadly supportive of the Scottish approach to the pandemic, but the lack of information and nimbleness of the wait for the blue letters approach is a problem. I’m happy for Nicola or Jason Leitch to explain any issues to me, but there’s a vacuum.

ChrisQuean · 20/04/2021 10:49

@ParkheadParadise Hurrah!

In Glasgow? Guessing from your name Smile

TheMShip · 20/04/2021 10:55

Someone above commented about the cities having overall lower percentages. If you look by age group they're performing closer to the average across Scotland, it's just that the cities are a lot younger overall so the percent of over 16s with first jabs will be lower.

ParkheadParadise · 20/04/2021 10:56

@ChrisQuean
Yes, the Hydro.
My username is definitely a giveaway 😂😂

emmathedilemma · 20/04/2021 11:06

My friend has just received hers for the 1st week in May. That's Lothian NHS.
