I'm thinking of going to Pagazzi lighting and Next Home this week. I don't need anything, I just fancy wandering round a shop. Not IKEA though - queues looked mental today.

shouldistop · 05/04/2021 20:26

@RaspberryCoulis I know! My hairdressers is in Glasgow and I'm bearsden but I'm counting my appointment in a couple of weeks as essential Grin

I drove to B&Q at 7pm the other day for a plant. Just one plant, there was a spot in my garden that I thought needed something taller than the 50+ plants I had ready to plant in it.

I think I just needed out!

shouldistop · 05/04/2021 20:39

@StatisticallyChallenged I take my 4yo to Morrison's for an outing as he likes to choose the fruit Grin sad isn't it

runningpink · 05/04/2021 20:39

Thank you all for the virtual hugs.

I actually have a counsellor who I have been speaking to every couple of weeks. I do find the online sessions harder to communicate with than the in person ones.
I think maybe medication very short term will help me get out of this slump and deal with the issues I’m struggling with. I will definitely consider anyway.

Oh the beach. I can’t wait to get to North Berwick for a walk in the sand

runningpink · 05/04/2021 20:48

Talking of hairdressers reopening. I passed a barbers today, fairly small building and there was either two or three staff cutting hair (didn’t look 2m apart but hard to see properly from car), again another two or three customers sat waiting inside and a queue of about eight waiting outside!

It was the queue that caught my eye as I was wondering what was going on.

I thought barbers would have been appointments only at the moment as well?!

Still don’t get how hairdressers have got priority to reopen over most other things. Why not Sports and remedial massage who treat pain, or driving lessons where the back log will take forever to catch up etc,

That's definitely essential travel! For physical and mental well-being Smile

littlbrowndog · 05/04/2021 20:52

Running pink. You seen my hair. 😂

It’s like ratty hagrid hair

runningpink · 05/04/2021 21:09

@littlbrowndog mine ain’t much better! 😂

I just don’t get how hairdressers have been singled out amongst other close contact services.

titsintiers · 05/04/2021 21:17

Call me cynical but I reckon it's related to a certain politician with short, dyed hair 🤷🏼‍♀️

rookiemere · 05/04/2021 21:31

BBC does seem particularly predicated towards pointing out the very few things opening in Scotland first.

So very long item on Radio 4 comparing Scottish hairdressers opening up before English ones, was glad the hairdresser they interviewed made a point of mentioning that England was several weeks before Scotland last time round.

Icannever · 05/04/2021 21:47

@runningpink it’s really good you had someone in. It’s totally allowed for mental health reasons anyway so defiantly no need to guilty.
I know a couple of people who’ve gone on medication for anxiety in the last few months and it’s made a huge difference to them, really hope you find something that works for you and keep on seeing people and having hugs.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 05/04/2021 21:52

What's with the "stay local"? Are we still not allowed out of our LA then?
Is it 'law' or 'guidance'? They're not making it clear, or is it just me?

Scottishskifun · 05/04/2021 22:06

I think they have been quite vague it's still in law at the moment as the legislation is for tier 3 or tier 4 not to leave LA so until they change it on the 26th of April the legislation still stands unfortunately.

WouldBeGood · 05/04/2021 22:30

I am so fucking angry with her and her hairdresser pic when I don’t know if my child will be back at school.

rookiemere · 05/04/2021 22:38

The current rules/guidelines around travel are very vague, but I'm not venturing out of Edinburgh just yet as friend of a friend fined £1000 for going to Tesco outside of council area when there was one inside the area. Yet again it's friend of a friend but the amount made me gasp. I'd assumed it would be commensurate with a parking penalty so maybe £60 - £100. Legally I'm sure you can challenge it, but it's one heck of a gamble.

Scottishskifun · 05/04/2021 22:47

@rookiemere the first fine is £60 but I think it increases in amount the more times your fined up to £960 so by the sounds of it they have been busted quite a few times!

latissimusdorsi · 05/04/2021 22:57

Anyone going on an exciting outing to get a key cut this week? Hmm

WouldBeGood · 05/04/2021 23:11

@latissimusdorsi I’ve broken my chains 😂

Cocacola12 · 05/04/2021 23:42

@runningpink sorry to hear that you’re struggling. Your post resonated with me as I posted a few weeks ago on one of these threads, with similar problem - my anxiety (not about Covid) was taking over my life and I was crying multiple times a day. Was really reluctant to start meds having been on AD’s for years previously and being off them for the last 2 years. I caved and spoke to my gp who prescribed citalopram. That was about 6 weeks ago and I can honestly say even in that short time I’ve felt so much better. I haven’t cried once since taking them, having previously cried at least once a day for months. I just feel like I can focus and it’s taken the edge of everything. I wish I had gone to the GP sooner. 💐

Bytheloch · 06/04/2021 01:02

Really annoyed too that the news outlets haven’t been clarifying that we are still officially in council cages. I’ve corrected a few friends in England who were calling me ‘lucky’ to have hairdressers reopen🙄
Unfortunately, ‘friend of friend’ stories of fines still circulating mostly fake news from social media are not helping anyone’s mental health and bringing unnecessary worry to those who don’t wish to go against official advice.
I’m not staying in my council cage, instead I’m making decisions that still protect the welfare of others, but mostly I’m being a grown up and using critical thinking to determine how my family spends each day, just as I was last trusted to do in 2019/early 2020.

runningpink · 06/04/2021 02:59

@Cocacola12 my GP practice are doing mostly online appointments/calls. Do you think I would be able to ask for help this way or would I need to go in and have face time face? (Would much prefer online)

Would also prefer a specific doctor who has helped in the past with a completely different health issue. She isn’t my registered doctor though so not sure I would actually get to speak to her.

I realised earlier I can’t actually remember the last time I felt happy. But I guess there hasn’t been much to feel happy about has there

WouldBeGood · 06/04/2021 04:21

@runningpink I was able to get help over the phone from the GP last summer when I was feeling really down. I’m sure it’s possible. To be honest, I think there are loads of people feeling like you. But help is there. Also ring or email Breathing Space or the Samaritans if you’re feeling you need help right away. 💐

OP posts:
Groovee · 06/04/2021 04:28

@runningpink hugs, I think sometimes being able to just admit to the feelings can lift a huge pressure but worth speaking to the dr.

I forgot to take my meds last night. Hence being up at 4am. Males are all booked in at the barber then Dh has the vaccine at 4pm. Long long day.

DeepfriedPizza · 06/04/2021 07:26

For the poster who asked about barbers. DH had made an appointment online but when he turned up he still had to wait an hour! The barber said when they opened lots of elderly gents just turned up without appointments so they let them in and it pushed all the appointments back.
