Just in case railing remains required.

Does that include cross boundary?

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 02/04/2021 12:07

I love how confused we all are ... Confused Angry

It shouldn't be this hard.

Lockdownbear · 02/04/2021 12:12

It definitely shouldn't be this hard.

rookiemere · 02/04/2021 12:12

oh this is where we're hanging- I wondered why the Tiertastic thread was so quiet.
Yeah I'm totally confused by what we can and can't do, but I have discovered a nee and open NT garden within Edinburgh city boundaries so that will be Mondays excitement if there are no more tempting offers. Then friends and I are hitting up the local garden centres on Tuesday for my birthday. I was hoping to have a hair appointment but hairdresser and I have been playing telephone tag, and whilst work is understanding of life commitments I don't think that extends to answering a personal phone call whilst on a video conference.

WaxOnFeckOff · 02/04/2021 12:12
@Lockdownbear I think we've been allowed to have the garden socialising with the 4 adults/2 households since Mothers' Day weekend.
Yes, but we were still not allowed to leave home for non essential purposes so that just shows how stupid and unjoined up it all is.

Lockdownbear · 02/04/2021 12:18

That's even more nuts.🤔

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 02/04/2021 12:32

Sounds like I can browse round Dunelm on Monday. And Dobbies. And the local car showrooms.

Haud me back.

No NTS gardens within the permitted distance. And we're members.

WouldBeGood · 02/04/2021 13:01

I’m going to DP’s for Easter as ds with his dad. A nice change of scene. I’ve bought emergency rose in case it’s warm enough to sip outside.

I never grow up @shouldistop 😃😳

WouldBeGood · 02/04/2021 13:03

And if @Lidlfix is around DP is going to test out a pear and ginger cocktail. I’m a willing guinea pig

titsintiers · 02/04/2021 13:04

I can get on board with emergency rose, in fact I have probably been on board with it since last March 🤪

UnderHisAye · 02/04/2021 13:22

I am doing heavy duty gardening (more like an archaeological dig to be honest) so I will be having garden beer later

WouldBeGood · 02/04/2021 13:28

Good luck @UnderHisAye 😃

I can’t see how there’s any change in these rules at all. Meeting up for a cup of tea etc has been allowed for a few weeks now.

I want to be legally allowed to meet up with my sister and her whole family (classed as 4 people as my nieces are teenagers) I mean we are doing it anyway but it would be nice if it was legal like it is in england. In fact I want to move to England so I can book a self catering house and go to a theme park in a weeks time.
On the plus side of lockdown our nearest pub now sells amazing homemade donuts and coffee on a Sunday morning instead of the rather boring pub meals it usually sells. Hoping they keep it up once they are allowed to open again. I like some of the new things that have opened up because of lockdown 😊

RedactedTaeFeck · 02/04/2021 13:42

Maybe, but you weren't allowed to leave home for non essential reasons and having a cup of tea in someone's garden "just because" isn't an essential reason.

I'm not complaining and happy that folk have been taking their own decisions, but just pointing out how nonsensical it all is and no idea why this stuff is isn't challenged.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 02/04/2021 13:49

Quite, Redacted.

rookiemere · 02/04/2021 13:55

@Icannever yes the golf club now has an outdoor hut selling bacon rolls and soup also to non golfers like us. Just been out with DH and ddog- hope it continues post pandemic.

Yes, it is bonkers. Though I assumed that as they had made meeting 2 other people allowed, they had conceded that it was an essential reason to leave your house. As "vulnerable"/ mental health support was already an exemption that would, theoretically, permit indoor as well as outdoor visits, there would be no reason to add in the exception for outdoor visits just for these kinds of support reasons. So meeting "just because" must have been accepted as an essential reason.

I assume the change just emphasises there is no reason to put off a meeting because you could possibly wait a bit longer and become more miserable, thinking it may become "more essential".

Which is why the council area thing is especially bonkers. Why is leaving your house for an essential reason (meeting someone "just because") somehow not essential if you happen to live in different council areas?!

Icannever · 02/04/2021 14:16

I was sure when they said it was okay to meet for a cup of tea they also said meeting up for social reasons was an essential reason to leave home from then. I could be wrong.
@rookiemere I quite liked when golf courses were shut and you could walk past/through them without fear of being hit on the head by a golf ball 😀

Icannever · 02/04/2021 14:20

There’s a big chat on Fife Facebook coronavirus group today with everyone arguing about whether you could or could not leave Dunfermline before today (not sure why Dunfermline specifically). So many people think this is a massive change and they were not allowed to leave their town at all up until today!

UnderHisAye · 02/04/2021 14:21

Yes I think that's what they said too.
Lockdownbear · 02/04/2021 15:08

Is it a case of they are making the big change to "stay local" as that's what they really meant in the first place?

You know the council 5 mile boundary does that apply for coffee in the garden too ?

Sure just take a can of beans and do some overheads to music then it's exercise and no issue!

@WouldBeGood thanks I'm still in bed but can now say more then 5 words without being breathless which is improvement bloomin fever won't sod off though a week of temps over 38 is tiring!

rookiemere · 02/04/2021 16:33

@Icannever I refuse to go to the golf club bacon roll hut now with rookiedog unless DH was there, since the incident in the snow with the deer Blush. Thankfully by a minor miracle no deer were hurt.

SempreSuiGeneris · 02/04/2021 16:52

Be careful around the deer. My neighbour is not long out the hospital having caught Covid there while being treated for Lyme disease caught from a tick out walking locally.

We have golf courses adjacent to all our parks. So it doubles the space in the park keeping them open. The bacon roll kiosk is in the park though.

WouldBeGood · 02/04/2021 16:54

Keep taking meds regularly @Scottishskifun and rest: it sounds exhausting.

I can reveal that the motorway signs have changed to Stay local; Save lives; Save the NHS !!

We now have enough food to do us the whole week! DP is good 😃
