@ResilienceWanker what did she say about hugging?

RaindropsSplashRainbows · 16/03/2021 16:32

I could have wine in a teacup if that would help?

RaindropsSplashRainbows · 16/03/2021 16:32

Wrong thread, sorry.

UnderHisAye · 16/03/2021 16:39

I dunno, wine in a teacup is a decent suggestion on any thread Grin

RaindropsSplashRainbows · 16/03/2021 16:48

I had read we are not to be allowed wine in a restaurant. Sad

UnderHisAye · 16/03/2021 16:52

Plus it would certainly make sitting on Zoom calls at home much more enjoyable...

dancemom · 16/03/2021 16:53

Are people at weddings expected to socially distance and wear masks?

OP posts:
cyclingbear · 16/03/2021 17:00

I would expect so @dancemom

That would put me off as not enjoyable with a mask on your gob!

FinnRussell · 16/03/2021 17:02

I missed the briefing. Has anyone got any idea when we are not having any restrictions at all? 8 from 3 households does not cover our family and desperate to see them now.

Scottishskifun · 16/03/2021 17:10

@FinnRussell I think they are aiming to be level 0 which will be more contact by end of June but there wasn't much detail on this.

FinnRussell · 16/03/2021 17:12

Thanks @Scottishskifun Trying to see the positives in having dates but NS's view of normality and mine must be very different.

emmathedilemma · 16/03/2021 17:37

likewise @FinnRussell!! It still feels a very long way off.

Lucienandjean · 16/03/2021 17:44

Did anyone hear what's happening with non-essential travel to and from the islands? There's a lot of info about allowing travel in mainland Scotland, but some of us want to see friends on the islands! Also some of the tourist businesses might want to reopen.

dancemom · 16/03/2021 17:48

She said discussions are to be had with the communities about travel there

OP posts:
Scottishskifun · 16/03/2021 17:51

@Lucienandjean separate discussions to be held with the Islands about if they wish to have travel with the mainland due to risk of importing cases.

Lucienandjean · 16/03/2021 17:57

Ugh. That sounds like a no then.

Cismyfatarse · 16/03/2021 18:05

DH got his letter today (59) but got done a week ago as he is now working in a vaccine centre.

It is weird. Some vaccine centres are open only 2 days a week. Others more. But he can't find anywhere with shifts on Mondays in Fife. They must be doing it but not sure how / who as he has a website to apply for available shifts.

Will get more information when he gets back from a 12 hour shift later. Where he is today are doing 8.30am - 8.30pm. So he will be knackered!

user1487194234 · 16/03/2021 18:06

No sign of normality even in the distance

ssd · 16/03/2021 18:11

That's s bad the centres aren't open more @Cismyfatarse

No word here yet, same age group as your dh, but Glasgow.

Bytheloch · 16/03/2021 18:12

Lots of great noise today, but don’t forget to read the small print.

I don’t care anymore, many of us predicted we’d get a bag of sweeties for our good behaviour just before the election and of course, 26th April appears to be our reward. Why would you actually wait until 26th April before you’re ‘allowed’ to freely travel in mainland Scotland? FFSHmm. No comments about broader travel plans- Easter trip to visit your relatives in England, anyone?

My memory is not short, nor am I so busy popping the corks at hairdressers reopening (finally, good news for them) that I’m not looking over there.

theotherfossilsister · 16/03/2021 18:14

today's announcement actually made me feel positive for the first time , my work can reopen in April (Librarian.) Last time we reopened it was so good to see people so happy to be in.

That combined with the sunny weather and a wander along Porty Beach made things seem, well, OK, for the first time in a while. I had a huge bereavement in Lockdown #1 and at the time blamed the Covid restrictions for the fact that the person hadn't got the help she needed, so I spent a lot of time angry, but maybe that was unfair and really I should blame Covid, not the government.

We're meant to be going to Jura, Islay and Colonsay at the end of May. I still don't believe we'll be able to but I love the idea of being able to go somewhere. Any good recommendation for where to book last minute if the islands decide not to take us dirty city dwellers?

Oh, also I have my vaccine on Saturday! I'm thirty five but have RA, so must have flagged for that.

polarisation · 16/03/2021 18:37

DH is listening to the briefing and questions just now, did someone say that cancer survival rates are down by 50%?!

havingamomen · 16/03/2021 18:41

I've got haven booked in Scotland for end of august was hoping all restrictions would be gone by then. Do you think the swimming pools , arcades and kids activities will be open by mid august ?

WouldBeGood · 16/03/2021 18:46

Oh my god, @polarisation!

Icannever · 16/03/2021 18:51

@Bytheloch I felt like that as well. It initially seemed positive but there was lots of small print. Weddings allowed but no alcohol!
No meeting more than 4 people outside until the end of April. This means I can’t meet my sisters family as her kids are both older than 12.
Even in June were still only allowed to meet 8 people from 3 households outside! That’s hardly exciting. I want to meet my family but we are way more than 8 people!
And by June still just 6 people inside which means we can’t go on holiday with another family.
I really don’t think it’s as positive as it originally seemed 😢
