Plus we'd only just caught up on vaccinations, so while England had a lull we had that brief moment when we were vaccinating "at highest rate in Europe" so one of the Scotsnet posters told us a few times, with the link to prove it.

But a vaccination three weeks ago confers a noticeable level of protection whereas one yesterday does nothing. So timeliness matters.

Scottishskifun · 15/03/2021 11:07

@LizzieMacQueen

That's the Netherlands suspending use of the AZ vaccine too now .... would SG be allowed to do the same?
Why would they need to? 40 cases of a blood clot in 17 million vaccinations given in EU.... Sounds more like its just normal blood clot levels which occur for many reasons! Countries are suspending the use whilst they investigate which is their choice but to say that level is very very low is an understatement!
speedtalker · 15/03/2021 11:22

Really hope all these cancelled AZ vaccines get sent to us, and all of Scotland could be done in days! Grin

blowinahoolie · 15/03/2021 12:01

Thank goodness schools are all back. DS(13) getting two full days back in school for next three weeks. P6 DS glad he is back full time.

How is everyone enjoying the peace?!?

UnderHisAye · 15/03/2021 12:07

Finding it a bit weird @blowinahoolie

Glad to get some work done without being asked a million questions, but I miss their wee faces. And I was enjoying watching them learn (I'm a teacher at heart without the good enough Maths grades...)

Lockdownbear · 15/03/2021 12:08

The peace is bliss, having the day off to sort the house, except I don't know where to start.

blowinahoolie · 15/03/2021 12:14

UnderHisEye it's a shock to the system isn't it after all these weeks. I can hear the hum of my fridge freezer, it's so loud. Never noticed these wee things in months. Had lunch with DH in peace. It was lovely 😊

Lockdownbear enjoy your day off, don't over do it. I have loads to do, but going to take it easy for today. Back to chores tomorrow 😩

The first minister confirms a further 456 people have tested positive for Covid-19, 4.7% of the tests carried out yesterday.
This takes the total number of positive cases in Scotland to 210,008.
Breakdown of cases in health board areas:
·NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde: 138
·NHS Lanarkshire:76
·NHS Lothian: 70
The remaining cases are spread across nine other health board areas.
There are 447 people in hospital with recently confirmed Covid-19, a decrease of 14, and 40 in intensive care, the same as yesterday.
No deaths were reported in the past 24 hours of people who tested positive in the last 28 days.
That total number of deaths by that measurement remains at 7,510.

I didn't get a click and collect today, with the kids at school. Went into the shop for the weekly haul. Bought some stuff I didn't need Blush but it was so nice being able to see the items I was going to buy, to browse real life objects, and seeing all the easter stuff out.
I've been conditioned so much by this lockdown and always getting deliveries, I had to reassure myself I wasn't being reckless going into a supermarket Hmm

UnderHisAye · 15/03/2021 12:33

@speedtalker I had to go to three different shops yesterday and felt completely reckless!

(Then I let my mum and dad in for a coffee so I guess I was having a fuck it sort of day).

latissimusdorsi · 15/03/2021 12:35

Numbers looking better today, hopefully the 600+ were just wee blip

UnderHisAye · 15/03/2021 12:45

Oh look and we're on to questions about Old Firm football again...

hilbil21 · 15/03/2021 12:51

Why is she sounding like everyone will go to level 3 again. Argyll and Bute up until yesterday are 5 per 100k for last 7 days. I know (in Helensburgh at least) we use the central belt hospitals but come on!

anon444877 · 15/03/2021 13:03

What excellent benefits does tier 3 bring? None as far as I recall. That'll be an 'announcement' to miss! Il wait for the synopsis.

hilbil21 · 15/03/2021 13:05

Her answer to so many questions today has (as usual) been... "I will set it out to Parliament tomorrow" ... I will definitely be watching, even though it will no doubt give me the rage Grin

blowinahoolie · 15/03/2021 13:23

Strangely enough I tend to zone out when football stuff gets mentioned...

Yep, heard some questionable stuff about AZ vaccine. That's probably the one I will end up getting whenever I get the letter.

hilbil21 · 15/03/2021 13:24

I got AZ and I'm here to tell the tale, although had a ropey 36 hours afterwards.

latissimusdorsi · 15/03/2021 13:54

I've given up watching daily briefing. There's no major announcements made there and all I need is the figures.
And the inane questions from journalists does my head inAngry
And that was even before the football!

Rae36 · 15/03/2021 13:54

My youngest is back in school today. I've got a million and one things to do and I've managed absolutely none. I can't seem to settle to anything, it's really strange. My concentration span is so short after months of being interrupted by him every few minutes.

ResilienceWanker · 15/03/2021 14:07

I've given up with even the live BBC reports of the briefings. Catch up with the figures with dancemom's posts (Flowers thanks!) and look at the travelling tabby graphs once the UK page is updated in the evening and that's about it now. I do watch the Tuesday ones where something important has been trailed, if I have time. I think I have covid fatigue.

I feel like that too rae! Had so many things on my list and have managed two of them. I just keep wandering round the house aimlessly instead of sitting at the computer. But then had to collect DS at lunchtime as the school closed... Grrrrrrr. So feels normal again now.

You can go swimming in tier 3, can't you? Old tier 3 anyway.

dancemom · 15/03/2021 14:13

Oh, swimming. I so want swimming back. And coffee shops. Never thought I'd be desperate to get back to tier 3...

On the schools, I kind of hope that there is some small increase in numbers when they are back. Because if there isn't, why on earth have they been closed for 3 months!! The first three weeks of the little ones being back doesn't seem to have made that much difference to the numbers though, which is promising. Even with all the reckless mums immediately going out and partying from the school gates as JS was predicting.

I really hope all the news over the AZ jab doesn't affect people's willingness to get it. I agree the overall numbers are tiny, and likely reflect the background incidence of clots in the population (though there was something on the news about two having been from the same batch of vaccine, which sounds like an unfortunate coincidence... I may have misheard though). I've stopped reading the warnings on the safety sheets of any new medicine though, as they all make it sound as if you'll drop dead if you take it!

Rae36 · 15/03/2021 14:36

had to collect DS at lunchtime as the school closed...

@ResilienceWanker oh no, why? Was this his first day back?

ResilienceWanker · 15/03/2021 14:48

(Turns out that a "batch" is a million doses, so still, not that surprising given blood clots affect about 1 in 1000 adults every year... So 1000 per million in a year... or 80 or so each month per million adults).
