DH had a completely random DVT at the end of November and no cause identified.

He's had his first dose of AZ as well. Surely they just need to make sure that people know what to look out for and what they should do if a blood clot occurs? Useful information anyway.

It sounds like a storm in a tea cup to be honest.

ResilienceWanker · 15/03/2021 14:53

@Rae36

had to collect DS at lunchtime as the school closed...

@ResilienceWanker oh no, why? Was this his first day back?

"Water supply issues" apparently Hmm. Presumably someone hadn't checked all the pipes and so on in the upper school before reopening. I mean, it's not like they had any notice or anything... We may or may not be able to go back tomorrow, which is helpful. Maybe the ceremonial deletion of Teams from DSs tablet on Friday was a bit presumptious.
Purplebees · 15/03/2021 16:06

Sorry I seem to have missed this.
Is the SG hinting we may all go to tier 3 in tomorrow’s announcement?

ssd · 15/03/2021 16:08

No,tier 3 from 26th April

Icannever · 15/03/2021 16:22

I’ve just got a vaccine appointment for Friday! I’m in total shock. I am early 40s and my mum who lives near me had hers on Saturday. Better stop complaining about fifes vaccine roll out then I guess.
I have underlying medical issues in that I had a stage 4 blood cancer twenty years ago! It does affect my immune system but not in any serious way. I’m now wondering if they just decide based on the thickness of people’s medical files (mine is pretty fat)
Anyway I’m very happy and certainly not put off by the blood clotting issue. I just want jabbed.
Shame I’ll have to go on holiday without dh and dc though 😂😂

UnderHisAye · 15/03/2021 16:32

That's bloody brilliant @Icannever hopefully I won't be too far behind you then. We can holiday together! Grin

Icannever · 15/03/2021 16:34

Brilliant @UnderHisAye. Where should we go? 😂
They must be ramping it up after all I guess

TeenTraumaTrials · 15/03/2021 16:38

That's what we've been saying to our DCs - we've booked a holiday (Europe) for October hols on the basis we'll both be vaccinated by then, but have no idea what the rules will be about children (particularly as DC1 will be over 16 by then so technically allowed the vaccine but not currently in the plans to get it).

mibbelucieachwell · 15/03/2021 16:40

icannever.

Excellent. I was surprised to get mine the week before last - I'm early 50s. Your theory's interesting. Like you I had cancer a long while ago. Stage 3 bowel cancer ten years ago.

I was speaking to someone who's working for the NHS phoning people about their vaccines this afternoon and she reckons what counts as an underlying health condition can vary tremendously in severity. I asked if I should get a flu vaccine at the end of my chemo. The GP didn't know and by the time anyone got back to me to say yes, it was advised it was the spring so I didn't bother, but I used to get an invitation for the flu vaccine every winter (until I felt guilty about it and asked to be taken off their list) . So, I wonder if they used an old register of people entitled to a free flu vaccine?

peppefrig. The World Health Organisation has said today that there's no evidence of the AZ vaccine causing blood clots. Try not to worry if you can.

Icannever · 15/03/2021 16:59

I’ve never had a flu vaccine 🙄

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 15/03/2021 18:11

DH and my sis have both had it (both under 40) and they're both on the flu jag list, for fairly minor reasons.

Tier 3 from the end of April
FFS
How much longer can we expected to put up with this

anon444877 · 15/03/2021 19:04

If tier 3 brings swimming that would be something but will we have the same farce as last time where the councils take further months to re-open? I hope not

DinosaursOpticNerves · 15/03/2021 19:08

I'm ok with Tier 3 if it's the old rules.

Restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars can open indoors and outdoors for the consumption of food and non alcoholic drinks. Alcoholic drinks cannot be served. Last entry is 17:00 and all venues must be closed and all customers off the premises by 18:00.

And retail and salons open!

rookiemere · 15/03/2021 19:24

Big issue with Tier 3 - still not officially allowed to leave your own damn area. Sure it will be nice to go to a cafe and have gyms open, but meanwhile in England self catering is open from12th April so presumably they're allowed to travel round the country.

frasersmummy · 15/03/2021 20:07

I am really hoping that cafes pubs etc will be open beyond 5pm

I want to go out for dinner. We are close to Glasgow and we are gonna be in tier 3 forever!!!

MrsAmaretto · 15/03/2021 20:10

Teir 3 does feel lovely, but not being able to meet friends for coffee after 5 is doing my head in. The weather is too horrible to meet outside here.

Not allowed to travel to another local authority and not even allowed to travel to the islands within Shetland. Not seen my Shetland family since November as they live on a different island to me. They can travel for essential reasons, but so far their food shopping and vets appointments have fallen when I’m working.

They can’t really expect people to wait until the 26th April for restrictions to ease can they??

GreenlandTheMovie · 15/03/2021 20:11

This internal travel ban is really doing my head in. What is the purpose in it in a country with only a small population like Scotland? Its not so bad if you live in a large county like Aberdeenshire, or East Lothian, but imagine if you live in Clackmannanshire? Or Dundee and you can't go walking in the Sidlaws?

Its beginning to look like another ruined summer in lockdown Scotland, the strictest country in Europe.

user1487194234 · 15/03/2021 20:11

I want to go out for dinner too
And have a glass of wine
Looking like no chance of that
Can see no justification for this at all

Icannever · 15/03/2021 20:13

I want to leave Fife please 😬

user1487194234 · 15/03/2021 20:15

Doesn’t matter what we want, will have to do as we are tellt

user1487194234 · 15/03/2021 20:17

You wouldn’t think that tourism was an important Scottish industry

Bananaman123 · 15/03/2021 20:17

Hate the travel ban, nothing in our area. I'm 40 and had my vaccine last night because i have an autoimmuse disease. Im also carer for my partner who had his too. Feel ok after it, arm a little sore but thats all.

@anon444877 my local private gym has reopened their outdoor pool so I’m going on Wednesday when DS is at nursery. Not allowed in the changing rooms though so I’ve bought a big towel poncho thing to change poolside. Going to be an interesting experience doing that in March and then walking home but I’m so desperate to swim again.

I have a holiday let in Edinburgh. I'm getting no booking enquiries for this summer at all, or maybe one or two speculative ones but nothing concrete or worthwhile. The flat was empty last year from April - October (its a student rental outwith the summer period). It really drives home how quickly even the most expensive parts of Edinburgh can quickly turn into a ghetto type environment. Very few people, other than tourists, students or druggies, actually want to live in central Edinburgh.
